Do this has to be on an outside wall? null

Of course where your towers are located and the obstructions between you and them makes a difference, but in my case, we live about 10-15 ,Ike’s from the local broadcast towers and I have these mounted on interior walls with no problem getting all the channels expected in my area.

No. The antenna connects to the back of the tv with the cable that’s included . The cable is not too long so allows the antenna to be placed anywhere around the tv.
