QuestionI was under the impression that several surround sound fields were available but I have found no way to find or choose any of these programs. The manual doesn't help. Maybe I just don't understand. How do I get the best surround sound from the 485 ?

QuestionThere was question about space needed for this unit. I have about 12 inches between the shelf and the top but it is a cabinet with glass doors that will be closed. The remotes work thru the glass doors. Will there be enough space? The Yamah 400w 5.1

- Answer You will have space, but this unit it's recommended to have room for ventilation. This units generates heat. Make sure you keep cabinet door open when you use that unit

- Answer If you have a passive sub with high level input and output, you could run speaker wire from the left and right speaker to sub, then to the speakers

- Answer Yes. It comes with the required hookup but for a passive subwoofer, you shouldn’t need it.

QuestionI have a pair of SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers, rated between 20 and 150 watts. I'm looking to bi-amp them using this receiver. Will this receiver have enough power to safely run these? How many watts do I get using bi-amp option?

- Answer If you have SVS speakers, you should be looking at the 6 or 7 series. In any case, I don’t think the 4 series can provide sufficient power. If you are using a sub, bi-amplification is a waste anyways.

- Answer An RCA cable from the “pre out -subwoofer” jack on the receiver to either the left or right RCA input on your subwoofer ( check your manual for the correct one to use) will do the trick if it’s a powered sub.

- Answer Yes. There's an USB slot in the front panel. All you have to do is to insert a pen-drive and choose USB input in your remote control. Done!
