Do I need to go to TV, or can I go directly to AV? null

There only needs to be a single HDMI cable from Receiver to TV. All other sources can go to the Receiver. If your TV HDMI input is ARC capable (Audio Return Channel) then the TV's built in apps such as streaming will play audio back to the Receiver over the HDMI cable
