Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.ABSOLUTELY! I upgraded from an OLD Sony 5.1 system for the HDMI connections. Within a little over a month, I replaced my old speakers with Elac Front, Center and surrounds. I also added Klipsch surround and front presence (height) speakers along with pairing my 10" Yamaha subwoofer with a Klipsch 12" sub just to take advantage of this systems true abilities. This system allows you to start with stereo sound and grow into 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 7.1 and 5.1.2 along with preamps for front amplification and second zone abilities. Plenty of sound and video decoding to suit the needs of most people. And this baby ROCKS!
