I paired it with an Otterbox Defender case (the new one doesn’t come with a built in screen cover) and my phone seems very protected. Have already dropped numerous times and is completely unscathed.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The case gives the body of the phone better grip and provides some protection in case of dropping, but it does not cover the screen. The screen protector is in addition to the case/cover to protect the screen from scratches, shattering, etc. I haven't abused my phone (yet), but I think the additional grip provided by the case has helped me not to fumble it.
