DO NOT plug into house power line or ZAP it will do to the unit. . Must have mechanical door bell and its transformer to step to low voltage

It's not "plug and play". You have to wire it into your existing doorbell's power circuit. It takes the place of your existing doorbell.

It has to be connected to the wires that currently connects your existing door bell.
