• This is just a modem, you will need to add a separate router for wired/wireless operation. The AC1600 is a cable modem with a router built in that would replace the Zoom modem; the AC1200 is a wireless router that you could add on to the Zoom modem.

• No, it is not a modem AND a router. You can connect one computer to it directly if that is your plan, but to have a home network you need to connect it to a router which will have more connections. I have my Zoom connected to an Apple Airport Extreme; three Cat 5 hardwired connections and a whole bunch of wireless options.
