Somewhat Challenging going from PC to MacPosted .
Since i own an iPad, iPhone, itouch, I thought it was be an easy transition from PC to Mac, but it has been frustrating at times. You have to relearn pretty much everything, if you have been using a PC all your life. Don't get fooled like I did, it is nothing like your iPad. I use my computer for business so I had to buy Quicken for Mac and Office for Mac. Both of those programs are totally different from the PC versions too, so not only was I having to learn the basics of navigating around the Mac but also relearn how to use programs (they are called apps on Mac). I also got the trackpad and the Time Capsule. i thought I would be able to sell my PC since it is newer, but I have had to set it up in a different room because I am not ready to let go, i still need to go to it for Quicken reports, the Mac version is very slim on features compared to the Windows version. Read the reviews of Quicken essentials. I would have returned it but had the geek squad load all the programs before I picked it up and all my files got copied over, so I was pretty much committed at that point. I am 56 and have been using a PC for many, many years, I thought I was pretty savvy since I have all the other apple products and love them, but this is a whole different ballgame. There are many good features and I am sure I will learn to love it, (in a few months)I would recommend this to a friend

Im glad I finally just ignored the bad reviews....Posted .
I have been contemplating buying Quicken Essentials for Mac for several months. I would have bought it a long time ago if I hadnt read all the bad reviews online that it gets. I have been using Quicken 2007 for Mac for a few years and needed to switch to something else, as it is not compatible with the Lion OS that I am upgrading to soon. I personally didnt care much for Quicken 2007. I disliked how every account was in a separate box/window that never was the same size as the others, and that I couldnt change the order of the accounts at the top of the program, ect. All fairly minor things. I finally bought Quicken Essentials and Im glad i did. Its not the best program in the world, but it easily exceeded the low expectations I had due to all the bad reviews Ive read. I must say that I really only use my financial software program as a checkbook to keep track of our checking account, savings accounts, and credit card transactions. I dont track investments with it. I dont print checks. I dont pay bills online with it (i use our online banking with Chase Bank for that). So for those of you looking for more than that, there may be a lot lacking in this program that just doesnt pertain to me. The program installed without any problems. The instructions were clear on how to convert my Quicken 2007 file to the new program. All the accounts loaded without any problems. It took about a half hour for everything. Then I spent about that long adjusting some of the settings/columns/ect, So far I like it better than Quicken 2007. Some reviews said check numbers dont show up... They dont to start with, but there is a setting for fields (check # is one of them). All you do is click it while you are on that account and its there! Works fine! And the field is there everytime I go back into the program, you only have to do it once. Also, it says right on the box (in large print!) that you CANT use bill pay through Quicken and that you CANT manually enter investments with this program. So you cant complain about that if you bought something and didnt read what it says in big letters right on the back cover! Overall Im happy I finally just bought the program.... Now I can upgrade to Lion! Note: Before buying Quicken Essentials, I tried the trial version of iBank and did not care for it.I would recommend this to a friend

It is good enough for personal financePosted .
Adding an iMac in the family computers, I wanted to install Quicken since I have been using this software for many years. I do not understand why intuit designed this differently from the Windows version - i.e. the reconciling of accounts. So for Quicken window users - it is not an easy transition, there is some learning to do. For others who have not used Quicken in windows, the product is good enough for personal finance tracking - learning level: not easy. Intuit should improve on the instruction of useI would recommend this to a friend

Not Quicken Essentials 2011Posted .
I ordered this product with same cover "Simple Money Management" from another site thinking it was the new version 2011 (matches Quicken for Windows 2011 packaging). Release date on item listing here shows released Oct 3, 2010. When I received package it showed "Version 2010 System Requirements." I contacted Inuit and received information from support email that Intuit has not released Quicken Essentials 2011 and according to support message, has no plan to at this time. I confirmed this with a chat session from Intuit's customer service page. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Don't know what they were thinkingPosted .
I have used Quicken on my Mac for many, many years and loved it completely, so it never occurred to me that I would feel any differently about their latest version. What were they thinking? The old Quicken was intuitive, neat, clean, did everything I needed or wanted. If you have used a check register, you can use Quicken. Essentials cannot be described this way. Why have they limited the reports so badly? Income statement? Balance Sheet? Where are they? Why do I have to use the mouse and click New in order to add a new entry? Why make it harder? So, we have that old "Don't fix what isn't broken" thing going here. I have heard rumor that somewhere Quicken 1997 is available for Mountain Lion and I will be looking for it. I have given this program a month and am so very disappointed. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Installation took too long because of softwarePosted .
Took too long to install because software that was included with purchase was not up to date. Spent way too much time on internet researching and finding the correct software for MAC with Maverick. You must have the correct software before you can convert your old files. The new version of Quicken is not all similar to the old version. Not easy to navigate when you first use the new version. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Bare bones financial softwarePosted .
I had used earlier versions of Quicken and was forced to switch to this due to OS updates. This is not even close to the earlier versions. I had read previous reviews stating this but decided to proceed with this version. It does the basics and that is about all. Compared to previous versions, it is not a good value. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I'm able to see where my money goesPosted .
You need to know a little about bookkeeping when setting up the program on your computer. I had put all my bills on it and when I went in to find them again I guess I didn't save them or something and they were gone. I like that I can look and see how much I spend on each category though.I would recommend this to a friend
