Q: I can’t figure out how to get the side light to work??? The button only has 4 positions-off,high,low,and blink. No other option that I can find.

A: The flash light controls are a bit rudimentary. One button does it all. Press it and it turns the front facing led on once for full, twice for medium, three times for flashes and lastly four times turns off. But...... If you press button and hold it down for 2 seconds it cycles to turn on the side white LEDs. Those, pressing the same button, also cycle full, medium, flashes and then turns off. Now, if the same dumb button is pressed and held down even longer, like 3-4 seconds, it triggers the side RED LEDS. And as you can probably guess, the same button controls those lights as well and in the same matter mentioned before. (Full, medium, flash, and off). That's it.

Q: Using the USB, how long does it take to charge? How many days does the flashlight hold its charge (considering light, medium & heavy use)?

A: It takes about 2 hours to full charge with USB. According to manual in bright mode it lasts 1.5 hr, dim 2 - 3 hr, strobe 2 - 3 hr-s; white sidelight - bright 8 - 9 hr, dim 15 - 16 hr-s; red sidelight 15 - 16 hr-s.

Bulletproof Construction, Great Buy!
This Renogy Product is one of my fondest buys in a long time. I live off the grid, so any item with a solar panel built in is right ‘up my alley!’ It has multiple illumination modes including two red emergency flashing modes if you were ever to break down or get in a rescue situation! I am not a back packer, but I think this would be an outstanding buy for that purpose. It also has a seat belt cutter and window smasher if you were ever in some other kind of an emergency. From my tiny home, to my center console in my car to my campsite, this solar flashlight is built like a tank, yet compact and so very much worth the money. Matter of fact, I never expected even near the qualityI got upon opening the box!!! Bought my daughter one for Christmas for her car too! Oh yeah, you can also charge this via USB or use it to throw a little charge into your phone. This is a forward thinking product and we need more ‘brilliant’ possessions like this in the future! No more batteries in the landfill!

More than just a flashlight
This flashlight is perfect to keep in the car with its multiple functions from beam light, broadcast lighting, to emergency warning lights. Beyond that it has the glass breaker and seatbelt cutter. It seems very solid, it's bright, and it's always ready to go with solar charging.
