If you look at the majority of reviews, they are from people who have only owned the unit for just weeks or several months. I would have given it a glowing review 4 months in! We have had it for about 2 years now, and it has been a nightmare. In fact, there is a class-action lawsuit against GE for this unit. About a year in, we started using it only for wash and taking our clothing to dry at the laundromat - now we do both washing and drying there because the unit barely dries at all. We have had a service tech come out several times but to no avail.
The unit's primary design flaw prevents users and service technicians from accessing areas that need to be cleaned or serviced. The design of the unit has users interfacing with the lint trap in a particular way - via an extremely narrow 2 inch wide by 7 inch tall slot at the top of the drying unit. The recommended brushes for this unit do NOT address the buildup, nor reach the major buildup spots. You are unable to reach with a proper cleaning or vacuuming tool per the narrow slot mentioned. Most importantly, the amount of buildup of oils and residue, per the closed loop nature of the condenser system, can only be cleaned and removed with efforts beyond a vacuum or brush, requiring the units costly and impractical disassembly.
The user manual states "clean inside the filter compartment by removing the filter frame. Use either a vacuum with a crevice tool attachment or the Appliance Brush Set. When cleaning, be careful not to damage or bend the fins of the evaporator which is just inside the area to the right of the opening." Upon first servicing of the unit, said damage to fin was present. Given the design of this unit, it is clear that there is literally no way to clean this unit short of recurring disassembly without knowledge that regular maintenance will cause damage to this unit. Users are being instructed to clean their units and are provided no way to do so without damage occurring due to the access design per manufacturer.
The filter compartment does not create a tight seal with the filter itself, which allows fine lint and debris to blow around the filter itself and naturally this clogs and combines with evaporated detergent inside the closed loop of the condenser and its fins.
In short, we do NOT recommend this unit.

Got Family, and Limited Time. Do Laundry Right

For a family of five, this machine has definely lived up to the hype. The convenience of throw and go cannot be overstated. Gone are the days of walking into a musty load of washed clothes, only to be rewashed and rewashed and rewashed. Our basement has more space than ever and we also have an unused dryer circuit.
Delivery from best buy was fast and professional, preparing connecting and hauling away the old appliances. The price was amazing and the job was spectacular.

We have had this washer dryer combo 1 year 1 month. This past month things have been breaking more often now that we are out of warranty. Even when this combo is working properly (fort the first 3 months) it doesn't dry clothes all the way and they always come out wrinkled. No matter the load size or if you pull clothes out immediately. I have to iron or stream nearly every item i wash. It would take you less time to just do things traditionally and switch things to the dryer yourself. Now it's not drying at all even though i clean the filter religiously. Which I've never had to do with a traditional dryer. Like i clean it with a vent brush and vacuum. Lucky for me i have a washer and dryer in my basement from the 80s that still runs so i can keep up with laundry until a repair person cones and changes me an arm and leg to fix it.

I have owned this for 2 yrs and it has been a nightmare from the beginning. Clothes never dry even after 2-3 hrs on dry cycle, it is loud, house shakes when in use, and its a pain to clean filters. GE is less than helpful and Best Buy said I had to go thru GE for issues. My warrantly expired 3 weeks ago and machine wont work at all now. Tried to return after purchase and would not let me until I had GE service 5 times and it was considered a lemon within a year. I had to deal with it and now it wont work at all. Save yourself and DO NOT BUY THIS, it is the WORST purchase I ever made. BUYER BEWARE would rate zero stars if it would let me

So far so good the only thing is that it does take awhile, I know it’s doing both washing and drying but I’m used to quick wash cycles that last like 30-45 min and then dry time also like less than 30 min but this washer even on quick cycle it’ll say like 1hr and 30 min and I guess with the sensors sometimes it might take longer but besides the time it takes to wash I have no complaints

Watch out for the lint filter

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
So the machine does a great job of washing and drying all by itself. In 2-3 hours you uave clean dry cloths. The maon problem is with the lint trap. Lint constantly gets by the filter and atarta blocking the coils on the heat pump. After a frlew months the dryer portion will stop working properly. Its a know issue. We ended up getting the lg washer combo that uses a different lint trap design. It also washes the coils out every load so it eliminates the issue the GE has.

There will be some lint just like on a regular dryer. Lint can still find its way past the filter, and it looks more evident or unusual to some consumers on our Combo due to the filter opening where you see our heat exchanger box. However, even when lint accumulates on the heat exchanger fins, be assured that it will not impact the great drying performance of our Combo.

This thing is amazing! We had a Samsung front load washer and dryer that were still in good shape, but needed something for our guest house where our two oldest boys live. We decided to give them what we had and get this combo unit because the reviews were so good. We were NOT disappointed!
I would like if the dry cycle got the clothes a little bit more dry in the default setting, but the More Dry button gives me clothes that are perfect when the cycle is done.
If you’re like us, and wind up washing a load of clothes two or three times because you keep forgetting to move them to the dryer, this is the unit for you! Now, I just slap the clothes in, start it, then come back later when they’re finished.
The auto dosing function for the detergent and fabric softener is awesome too! It just figures out how much clothes are in there, then adds what it needs to get everything clean and smelling fresh.
I decided I must be old now, because I really feel like this is the best purchase I’ve ever made. I’m not getting paid for this review and we bought the unit ourselves, so this is a fair review. We’ve only had it around a month, so I’ll update if anything changes, but so far, I wouldn’t dream of buying anything else again.

We have had this product for nearly a year and so far have had minimal issues.
Pros: Serious space saver!
No more mildew-y clothes, when you forget them in the washer for 2 days!
Auto-dispensing detergent & softener, great for families who don't want to waste product.
Cons: Hard to clean lint housing
Seal around door can build up with hair/lint easily.
Needs more frequent maintenance if you have animals.

I love this all in one. It’s great for my back problems not having to transfer from washer to dryer. Takes about 3 hours to wash a heavy load I will say if you separate your clothes and do multiple loads of laundry, it may be beneficial to look at two separate units as it does drive a little slower than the traditional dryer, but it does dry well

Haven’t had this that long but I absolutely love it. I love not having to switch clothes into a dryer, I love the auto detergent dispenser, it holds a lotttt of liquid. Pretty heavy but still compact and fit into my closet space. Clothes have come out dry mostly every time if it needs a little extra time just press “more dry” its simple. Highly recommend.

“Load Sensing” nightmare - do not buy

I am on my second machine. I purchased my first in October 2024. It stopped working in August 2025. At that time, it was perpetually stuck in load sensing instead of drying so the clothes would all get washed, but the water wouldn’t get spun out, and it would not dry. But worse than that load sensing will run as long as you let it. So do not do a load of laundry before bed or before you go to work because you will come home in the machine will have been running all day. It’s really helpful in the app that they tell you how many kilowatt hours you’re using in a day just puts the knife right to the heart of how useless this machine is and how it actually cost you money. That coupled with the laundromat expense is phenomenal. October 2025 GE replaced it with a new machine same model. I’ve had the machine eight weeks. It’s doing the exact same thing. GE doesn’t look at it as a continuation of the first problem they look at it as a new problem. So they’re insisting on going through the hassle of trying to find a technician in my area who will come fix it… guess what nobody will come fix it. It weighs 318 pounds and requires two people to move it so technicians will not work on this machine because it takes two of them for one job and they’re not gonna get paid for two technicians on one job.

I am a thorough researcher. I believe you get what you pay for. This is not an inexpensive washer and dryer, so I wanted to make sure it was the best all-in-one unit. I read hundreds of five star reviews on this washer dryer combo and was convinced that there wasn't a better unit available. We've had it now for about a month. In the first week we had it. My wife told me she did 17 loads of wash lol holy smokes! I'm not that ambitious, but I have to tell you I love the convenience of throwing my gym clothes in the washer and pulling them out ready to go. This is super helpful to me also, because I've had 11 knee surgeries, back, neck, and ankle surgery and the additional bending, transferring the wash to the dryer wasn't great. Filter is super easy to clear. Great capacity, king size comforters and sheets no problem. Does a really nice job cleaning too. 5/5. Best Buy was great to deal with also, easy delivery, good sale price and 24 month interest free financing on our Best Buy credit card. Always like to work with other peoples money.
Hope this helps!

This washer is the coolest appliance I’ve ever purchased, It has a very large drum. It automatically transitions to the correct drying cycle after the wash is done. The controls are high and easy to use. The detergent and fabric dispenser holds up 32 loads and sends a notification to your phone when it needs to be refilled.

This is the best washer and dryer I have ever owned! The first things I washed were 2 king size blankets. They were washed and dried in less time than separate units. I was extremely impressed. I would recommend that when you have it delivered, have them take it out of the box. It's nearly impossible to pick it up off the bottom of the box. It weighs over 300 lbs. I had to spend $50 on lifting straps to pick it up over a massive Styrofoam hump
Other than that, it's an awesome machine!!!

Tried Competing Unit from LG - This one the Best

So I have a whole story here. I got one of these becasue I live in a space confined condo. It worked like a champ. Most loads are 2-3 hours - even with a ton of towels and other stuff. Then the LG came out with a similar product and because the brand is sexier, and it's 9 inches shorter for more space savings I tried that.
This one is just much more reliable than the LG. LG has a more compact unit and the software is slicker but I may have had a dud. It would not dry.
I LOVE the GE unit, I feel bad for straying to the sexier unit and not sticking with what was working well. I'd love for GE to reduce the height in the next versiuon and add some bells and whistles like LG has in the software. Other than that- it's perfection.

This washer/dryer combo works like a dream! I was one of those people who ended up re-washing clothes because I would forget to transfer them to the dryer. No more! Easy to use, very intuitive, and it gets every bit of pet hair off of our clothes! Electric bill went down, too! Takes 2-2 1/2 hours to complete wash/dry cycle.

The product works great. Drys just fine with standard 110 electrical outlet and no need for a vent. Just hook up water hoses, plug it into an electrical outlet, and go. It takes a little longer than other machines to dry, but acceptable. Nice to not have to move washed clothes to a dryer - already there. We were a bit disappointed with Best Buy installation though. It is a very heavy machine (about 300 lbs), so professional delivery is needed. They got it into the room ok, which was good, but they refused to hook the machine up saying the water faucets needed to be replaced. They did not even hook the hoses to the machine. We just cleaned off the faucets ourselves later, easily put on the hoses, and plugged it in. Faucets are fine. There are no leaks. It was easy to do, and it works great. Seems odd that the included installation did not happen. They did not even try. Not a huge thing, but maybe don't expect the included installation unless faucets are pristine.
