This is one of the few movie adaptations that is on par with the book. The cinematography, directing, and acting are all pitch perfect and work to create an engaging dystopian tale. The Criterion Collection release is a nice upgrade from my DVD copy. The restoration is immaculate. The picture is crisp and gorgeous, this is done without disrupting the muted color palette. Most 80s film transfers to Blu-ray are unremarkable. It is hard to believe this film was released in the 80s, you simply can’t tell from the image quality. This disc includes a good number of special features and should be viewed. Both scores for the film are included.

1984 is one of the most important movies to watch in our time. This criterion Blu ray is the most perfect version to own. The picture is perfect, and the special features are exceptional in delving into the making of the film, and its history of the story.

I remember watching this on local TV years before 1984 and really enjoyed it. Has been years since I last watched it, and when I saw it was finally out on DVD, I had to have it. If the title has been 2024 it would have fit into todays world.

This is a movie that is a snapshot of what can happen when Socialism takes over and ultimately turns into Fascism...

this is a must see. my english teacher showed us this back in like 10th grade. Revisiting it as an adult is mind blowing.

Had this movie on VHS and decided to upgrade. This book is awesome and the movie is quite good as well. This is a classic movie for anyone's collection

This movie is very pertinent to what's going on today in our country. This is the original movie based on the George Orwell novel.

I’m a huge fan of the book and this is a great film version of said novel. Released in 1984, it, like the novel, where ahead of its time.
