I gave it chance, but after the 2nd unit having issues after owning it for only a month in half, that kind of tells you the tech that they offer. Received the 1st action cam gimbal as a Christmas gift but didn't opened it until February because I was traveling. Opening the box the first time and I saw a sturdy and well made exterior shell and nothing tells me by looking at it that it's a slightly budgeted unit compared to the others in the market. Except for the batteries. Read the instructions first, charged both sets batteries and after that put in my Hero 4 in the unit and turned it on...nothing happened. Checked the batteries, the unit itself, again, turned it on...Nothing Happened. Grab the 2nd set of fully charged batteries, press the power button once again and hoping it's only the 1st set of batteries that are dead...then...NOTHING HAPPENED! Customer service is in MN, replied to my emails(because that's the only way you contact them) within 12hrs or roughly 24hrs given that you keep emailing them for a reply. Long story short to that is I was given a replacement unit because after the firmware update and all it still a dud unit that I got from Bestbuy! Took 7 business days to get the new unit and the box it was in when it was delivered has a big hole on the side and there close to none cushion wrap to protect the unit even if its still in the manufacturing box. Alright, that time it felt like these skylab people are saying take it or leave because you really have no choice but to deal with it because it's already too late for you to return their so called top of the line product. So suck it up I did. That's why whoever buys this please, check the gimbal if it's working ASAP! And now my replacement unit is having a problem with the pitch axis servo and having used it for only 3 days total!!! No jumping or back flipping redbull action happening just walking around Disneyland and Universal Studios and Lego Land. The unit wont tilt up via the joy stick even after I reset it and re-calibrated it. Man, I was overprotective of that gimbal. I was carrying the box it came with in my backpack and after every use I made sure to put it back in the box. Also made sure it didn't get wet or it got dirt inside by using my camera cleaning kit. Overall, after the 2nd replacement unit giving me a set of problems and frustrations of going back and forth yet again with customer service, I am giving up giving it a chance. So, if you're not bothered with the hassle of going thru the emails and waiting for days, weeks to get your gimbal replaced or repaired even after just getting it brand new then please go ahead and purchase this. Or you're better off getting the actual gopro gimbal for the hero5 but if you have the hero4 then I guess you just have to cross your fingers and wait when you get the "new" skylab action cam gimbal that's coming out soon and hopefully they fix the issues.

This things is truly amazing. I've been using it about a week now. My videos on my GoPro Hero 4 Black have never looked better. I've been flying stabilized on my drone now for over a year and really wanted to step up my handheld shots as well. This really did the trick. The price tag was great compared to all of the alternatives, I'm glad I picked it up. I'm going skiing with it next week and I'll update my review to let you know how it went.

Unimpressed from the previous videos I recorded during my last vacation due to the shakiness, I found myself in the market for something that'll remedy my previous issue during my upcoming trip. After some research, I decided to buy the Skylab gimbal. Pros: good battery life, Solid build quality and did what it was supposed to which panned perfectly without shakiness. Instructions were simple. Cons: A bit pricey but the Skylab gimbal price sat in the middle compared to other brands. gopro didn't sit straight even after numerous attempts to recalibrate. I read on best buy that others had similar experiences. In the end, I ended up returning it due to it not sitting straight. Although most people didnt notice when I played back video utilizing the Skylab gimbal, I noticed it and it bugged me enough to return it.

This 3 axis gimbal is a good entry level stabilizer. It works great and has smooth movement. There are 3 types of shooting modes which comes in handy depending on your shot. There are times when the gimbal itself would get into the shot because of over rotation and the wide angle of the GoPro lens. There were a couple of times where it spazzed out while trying to rotate the gimbal from high angle to low. I think it got confused and tried to autocorrect itself. I like the thumb control stick which helps adjusting the gimbal. Make sure that its completely off before laying it down or it will get hot from to move around. And it gets really hot in the handle. One thing that I do have to complain about is the lack of information in the supplied instructions. Its more of a quick start but without any explanation. You have to look that up online on their website. I did purchased this item open box, so I got about $100 off but everything was intact. *Note... this is for GoPro 3 Silver or Black and 4 Silver only.

I love the product! would have given it 5 stars but it does not rotate a full 360 degrees. Besides that it is VERY useful! Come with an extra set of rechargeable batteries which is helpful when you have 2 GoPro's.

Do not hesitate to purchase this gimbal. It is rock solid when it comes to stabilization. I had no issues with it filming in Indonesia in muggy 100 degree weather. I paired this with a Hero 4 Black and the gimbal battery outlasts at least 5 (Hero 4 Black) GoPro batteries - hold down joystick for 2 seconds to put the gimbal into sleep mode, push again for 2 seconds and it comes back to life with out having to recalibrate.

Affordable, well made, solid gimbal for GoPro HERO4! Good run time and extra rechargeable batteries included.

I have dealt with many companies over damaged or defective products; and I have to say that by far "Skylabs" has THE BEST customer service reps that I have ever dealt with. I would choose one of their products over another company offering a similar product, just for the quality of customer service alone. Eventually everyone has to speak with someone in Customer Service over an electronics item, and no one wants to deal with the cookie cutter scripted responses that most companies have. Skylabs is personable, caring, and can see things from the customers point of view and offers "TOP NOTCH" results. Consider me a lifetime customer in the event I ever need one of their products again...

I was nervous about buying this item for my GoPro however, I'm glad I did!! This is the best/cheapest gimbal that I could find. I've tested this a few times and the results are amazing! It's a little heavy with the batteries in but it's a nice metal frame. Make sure you buy a case for it or you can keep the bestbuy case/package that it comes with.

I bought this product for 250.00 at a Best Buy location and the first guy slipped me an open box at full retail. After making the 100 mile drive home, it was broken. I took the product back to a local location and got a refund and promptly ordered a new one online. A couple days later my friend went to buy one as well since I liked the gimbal so much and the local store just happened to have ONE in stock. He purchased it for full price, open box and it was the same one I had returned. I love the product, I HATE the Best Biy experience.

your footage will look clean no shaky footage. Pro's light, easy to use. Con's no storage case, could damage the Gimbal.

Could be a little more smooth but overall I'm pleased. I have a Silver 3+ and has a screen attached to the back. You have to take the screen off to use the gimbal. I am looking for longer screws to attach with the correct bracket with screen on. I tried using rubber bands to attach with the screen and it works great. Once I find screws 1/4" longer I will be in business.

Perfectly calibrated right out of the box. Create smooth shots and is very easy to use. Very nice performance for the price.

No setup required, just plug and play. Super easy to attach the GoPro and calibrates automatically once turned on. Only downside is your limited to where you can purchase replacement parts and batteries since it’s only sold through BestBuy or the manufacturers website.

This is first time qhen I get a 3 axis gimbal for my go pro 4 camera. It is pretty easy to use, to set up the camera and calibration. I got an open box, and my only concern that I didn'y have a amanual provided with it. Actually I could look it up online finally! Is a good buy!

I got this as a gift from my fiance and it works well for steady high quality video. I was using the a go pro stick and you can tell the difference in the videos taken. I would recommend it for video purposes and catching everything with a steady hand.

There wasn't much selection in a big city while on vacation and my old gimbal quit. The Gopro gimbal needed an adapter to work with my camera which wasn't available the only option was the Skylab. I flashed new firmware and went to work. The gimbal was having trouble getting a good zero and establishing a level horizon. The stability seemed ok, the battery life was about an hour of use. While adjusting the unit I managed to get a level horizon, tinkering and short battery life made me return it. For casual use the price is a great deal. I needed just a bit more reliability and a larger battery that could charge the camera.

Easy to follow instructions, especially for a beginner.

I loved using this device and it got all kind of cool looks. I love that i comes with a spare battery. It's simply but does help with balanced recording.

If you have a go pro then you should get a stabilizer like this one. Skylab makes one of the more fordable stabilizers on the market and they will make your videos much much better
