Got the coverage for my college student's laptop. Thankfully have not had to use it :) but have it for 3 years.

Geek Squad deleted my files

When I phoned in for support about a minor problem, the remote Geek Squad support technician suggested I also get a "tune-up" which is included in my protection plan. In doing so, he deleted files from my computer. Two months and at least 20 hours of phone calls later and my files are still not recovered. Geek Squad wanted to charge me a minimum of $200 to retrieve my files which they deleted! It took me over one month to get the fee waived. My computer is currently at their lab in Kentucky and I cannot get an update on the status of my repair. Geek Squad claims they cannot call their own lab in Kentucky to check the status for me. Only one representative that I have spoken with over the past two months has apologized that Geek Squad deleted my files which leads me to believe this is a common occurrence. They claim there is no way for me to contact the corporate office to file a complaint by either regular mail, email, or telephone.

I'm truly sorry to hear that was not the case with your computer files as the experience you described is far from the one we aim to provide. My Asus Q553UB 2-in-1 - 15.6" Touch computer has needed in store repair once and online repair 3 times. The problems with the computer "not responding" continue. I expected an Asus computer to function better than the used computers I've had in the past. I also expected Geek Squad to be better than what they have been.
Hi Russ1 – I’m sorry that your computer continues to give you trouble even after multiple repair attempts. Since your Geek Squad Protect & Support Plus plan covers both hardware and software, I’d suggest going to www.geeksquad.com/schedule to set up a reservation to bring it back in to the store to get checked out again. I suggest bring in in any peripherals you have connected to it, like a mouse and keyboard, as sometimes they are the cause of the issue, and an attempted repair without them attached may not find the issue.
