What a great move to pay homage to the male gender and all its gory blood glory. Some people may not like the dialogue, but they have to remember that this movie was written in a epic manner where they play on the passing of stories from one generations to another in ancient times to preserve their perception of history. It is written to play on that fact and the camaraderie that exists in conquering times. People have to get over the excessive blood and gore because it tried to convey how our brutal history made us who we are now. What an entertaining and well developed movie. I ooze testosterone and want to join the UFC after watching this movie. Great Zuess it is good to be a man!!!

300 is easily one of those movies that you can watch more than once and still be happy with it. There are so many awesome battle scenes and the contradictions between what a good dictator king can do versus a political assembly that can get corrupted very easily. I rarely own movies and if I do, sometimes I regret because I dont' watch them anymore and they just sit there-this is one of those movies that I dont' regret purchasing. I actually got the bluray version of this movie so it looks even crisper and nicer but they didn't have that here to review and I thought this movie was definitely worth the time to write a good review. Would I reccomend this movie? Without a doubt yes.

When I first saw the trailer for this movie I thought, while rolling my eyes: "Another over-the-top special effects movie with a weak plot." I couldn't have been more wrong. The plot has good depth without being convoluted or slow, meaning that it keeps you interested and engaged without putting you to sleep or confusing you.For me this movie is first a great dramatic retelling of true events and second a visual feast. My five star rating doesn't come lightly. I am not one of these people that get on here and emotionally rate everything either 1 or 5 stars. I would probably give the movie 4.4 or 4.5 stars, but since that isn't an option I choose to round up.

A more intense shot of testosterone you will not find in any film. Equal parts bravado, guts and glory, "300" is simply the most exciting film to come out this year - or in several. Criticized for its violence and gore, fans of Miller's graphic novels will find that violence and gore to be as beautifully depicted on the screen as in the print version. A highly hyped CGI affair the cast could easily have been overcome by the sheer impressiveness of the physical production. To his credit director Zack Snyder is blessed with and uses a cast every bit equal to the challenge of competing with Miller's dark fantastic take of the Spartan's greatest story.

I RECENTLY DECIDED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE AND BOY AND I GLAD I DID. I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH I'M TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT IT. I'M NOT MUCH FOR THOSE B.C. MOVIES, BUT I REALLY ENJOYED THIS AND GERARD BUTLER MADE IT ALL THE MORE WORTHWHILE WATCHING. HE IS SUCH A GREAT ACTOR AND A GREAT CHOICE FOR THE PART. THIS IS SUCH A MUST SEE FILM AND THE STORY IT TELLS ALONG THE WAY IS SO INTERESTING THAT THE 2 HOURS JUST FLY BY. I WILL WATCH THIS OVER AND OVER AND I HOPE THERE IS ANOTHER ONE LIKE THIS COMING OUT SOON. I HAVE NOT SEEN GLADIATOR OR TROY, BUT I JUST MIGHT WATCH THEM NOW. THANK YOU FRANK MILLER FOR MAKING SUCH A GREAT MOVIE AND ENJOYABLE ONE AT THAT.

This was an excellent movie. The movie starts with storytelling to set the scene. Leonidas, his 300 soldiers, and his wife depicted strength at its finest. I loved the Spartan bravery and courage portrayed in this movie. It displays winnig against all odds. This was a break from the run of the mill comedies and action movies that have been in theaters. The graphics are outstanding! You can't help but to cheer for the victory of the 300 Spartans that fight Xerxes' army. I highly recommend everyone to see this movie. My brother, father, boyfriend, and best friend all watched this movie and loved it.

300 is a great movie. Before I bought a blu ray player, I knew that 300 would be the first movie I played on it. I took advantage of a sale during Christmas and purchased it. The DVD I rented months earlier was good but the blu ray was better. I have a 46 in Samsung tv and an old Pioneer receiver (no hdmi). I used an optical audio cable to connect the blu ray (Panasonic) to the receiver. I have a pretty decent subwoofer. The audio was fantastic and the picture was superb. The movie itself is great for people who are into those crazy battle scenes.

I would highley recommend this movie. This movie in blue-ray is the same price as the original movies. But getting the blue-ray disk lets you see better pixels and with HDMI cable it'll blow you away. This game features many fighting scenes and blood so I would buy this for your dad. The ps3 is a dvd player so it'll save you $50 on a dvd player beacuse from now on you can watch it on your ps3. So get the HDMI cable and you'll know that it's much, much better. This movie does feature some nude so get your parents permission before getting this movie.

Early trailers for this movie made it out to be entirely about the action. While it is filled with intense and well-shot action scenes, there is so much more to the movie. With an underlying theme of honor, 300 earns a spot among the great "guy movies" of all time. It is not historically accurate. However, unlike "Gladiator," it does not pretend to be the truth. It is based off the graphic novel which emphasises key points in history and adds an element of fantasy to them. Wonderfully acted and shot, 300 is a movie to watch over and over again.

300 was outstanding. The movie was brilliant in that it was a great action eye popper, but still managed to be powerful without overdoing it. Everything was cgi except the people. Beowulf should have done it that way. The two lead performances were terrific. When I first learne the music my mouth dropped to the ground. I was then saddened to hear that Tyler Bates, the "composer" had stolen the music from "Titus" without the filmakers knowledge. Its too bad because if he hadn't done that, 300 would have definitely shone up in the oscars.

It's been quite a while since I saw a movie that was just raw, blind action. 300 is one of those movies that just gets you pumped up! The CGI scenery and effects were spectacular! The acting...TREMENDOUS! The plot was very simple, but it hit hard with all of the action, fighting, and whatnot! Need a thrill ride that you don't really want to think your way through? Pick up 300. It's the kind of movie you can watch time after time. Oh, and try it out on a surround sound system. Trust me on this one... "THIS IS SPARTA!!!"

I thought that seeing this in the IMAX theatre when it first came out was absolutly incredibly, I didn't think anything could get better than that, until i bought the Blu Ray disc from Best Buy and thought it was amazing. I can't beleive how immaculate the picture and sound was. It's insane. This movie is going to be a classic, one of the all time bests. I personally give this movie on Blu Ray 5 stars. If you haven't seen it yet, GET MOVING !! BUY IT !! It's worth owning because you will watch it again and again.

After seeing the movie troy and loving it i wasnt thinking this movie would be as good but it was a little to futuristic for my taste to represent the 300 but the story line was great and the fighting scenes are great the special effects are amazing and i think that is what makes this movie more appealing to younger kids any way i already seen the movie 3 times and will watch it again one day soon!

I had the privilege of viewing this marvelous film on Imax, then rented the DVD. I was just as entertained. This movie is a great study if you're a film major or wish to enter the entertainment industry. The special effects are top tier and the ensemble cast hits the ball out of the park!! If you loved Gerard Butler as the phantom in "Phantom of the Opera," you'll certainly fall in love with him as King Leonidas! He shows how REAL MEN are supposed to treat their women. Bravo!

If you have never seen this movie, then you are completely missing out! A lot of historical content went into the making of this movie, as well as a lot of time and talent! The special effects in this movie are intense, as are the fighting scenes! The fact that this movie was inspired from a graphic novel was creative genius! The commentary about the movie is not only informative (about how the movie was made, etc.) but pretty funny. This is one of the BEST movies ever!

This movie was incredibly done. There were scenes that were just like the book. Many scenes had the spirit of the original illustration while greatly utilizing the abilities that a film has. Some scenes were added in, that weren't in the original book (it was kind of short). All the added scenes were appropriate and well done. Definitely worth a watch! Note: Not for the faint-hearted. This is a movie about a bloody battle, and there is some gore in it.

For someone who already bought this movie on DVD, I can honestly tell you that this is a must better viewing on Blu-Ray. Now don't get me wrong, it's pretty much the same exact movie, but the action sequences and the picture quality led me to buy this version. Those war scenes are so much better in hi-def!!! It was also only $15 (2 for $30 sale on Best Buy) and for that price, this was a good value pick when it comes to increasing my Blu-Ray collection.

For those who love Epic battles.... The graphic novel lovers...... Or just plain HOT men... (yes, female here).... This movie had a storyline anyone would appreciate with long battles, love and friendship... Am I reading the Iliad?? Along those lines.... The geek in me loved having a graphic novel turned into a movie that expands peoples imaginations.... Great acting, awesome cinematography...anyone would like some aspect of this movie!!!!

First off this isn't a documentary on the History channel, Frank Miller's 300 is a dramatization on the historical events that happened of the battle at the "Hot Gates". This movie is what storytelling is about! We also can't forget Zack Snyder and the awesome cinematography by Larry Fong. A great story about how a few can hold back a tide through strength of will and determination. Buy this dvd, you will want to watch it more than once.

Great movie with tons of extras. No Blu Ray collection is complete without this stunning masterpiece. This film was made to be viewed in HD, hands down. Blu Ray is a little pricey right now but I hopefully the battle between HDDVD and Blu Ray will have settled and consumers can finally have a complete list of titles in one format without all the corporate political headache. However, great movie, must have for any movie collection.
