Don't lose the remote - Good TV for kids

My kids wanted TV's and laptops so they could watch YouTube, Netflix, etc...We compromised and got these for each of their rooms.
Easy set up and use, Lightweight and easy to mount, Cheap enough that if we have to replace them its not a big deal.
You can customize the list of channels available to watch. You can also control the TV itself from your phone (so if someone is watching it instead of going to bed you can shut it off from across the house). You can choose to link it to an account if you want to be able to purchase channels/games/shows but you are not required to - which is nice when you don't want the kids to buy something without your knowledge.
The only con we have come across so far is that if you lose the remote you cannot work the TV (unless you use the phone app). So havimg a dedicated place to store the remote has been vital for us. Remotes from multiple TVs will all work with each other so make sure they are far enough away from each other that you aren't confusing signals if installing multiples.
Dependability is pretty decent with this model. Our youngest carries his out to the living room when he wants to share a movie with us and we've never had any crack, scratches, or bad screens/ports with multiple moving/plugging in and out/ short drops (less than 3 inches).
We did drop one face first from coffee table height and it landed on the screen which busted the LCD - totally our fault and not worth repairing. So we just bought another.
I look forward to using these models/brands for years to come.

This is the fourth Insignia TV I've bought in the past five years and the second one with built in smart capability. I've been impressed by the features and quality and the price is hard to beat especially when it's caught on sale. This TV was for my son's bedroom and is the perfect size for there. His room doesn't have a cable outlet so the built-in Roku was important to have. It has a simple interface that he's able to use even at 4 years old and has the channels on it with things he can watch.

Purchased this TV during the thanksgiving weekend. Thanks Bestbuy, got a good deal. With Inbuild Roku I did not have to spend another $30 or 40 for the smart TV device. Having read a few negative reviews after purchase, 'not useful with Antenna', 'needs a paid Roku account' etc, walked into my local Best buy store and clarified my doubts. At startup, it connected to my Wifi and updated the Roku software. Created online Roku account (I did not give any credit card details). I have few free channels online for news, TV shows and movies. If you need Netflix, Hulu, sling, you have to pay for it. Otherwise you dont need any paid subscription to watch Free TV from Antenna or stream Youtube. I purchased a RCA Amplified indoor HDTV antenna with this TV (thanks Best Buy, had a deal during thanksgiving).
Pros:
Great picture quality.
Works with Antenna (I get the free channels that are broadcast in the DC metro area).
Sound quality is decent.
In-built Roku TV (need not spend another $30 or 40 for Smart TV device)
TV is slim and compact.
Packing was good.
Guide for installing was clear.
And top of it, its BESTBUY. Great service. Friendly customer care.
Cons:
Takes a little time to boot up everytime we unplug the device and plug it in .
Took nearly 30 minutes to scan the channels from Antenna. (may be all TVs take time. But its one time when you install an antenna).
No other Cons so far.

Picture looks very good. I love that it has a digital audio optical output for hooking up to a sound system. This was the main reason for buying this model vs the model below it. The Roku function is very easy to use. And setting up the TV was quick and painless. The 3 HDMI inputs was a perfect amount for me. Blu-ray, Chromecast and Firestick all connected easily, and are easy to label so you what's what. For the price you can't go wrong.

I was looking for a mid-sized cheap smart TV for the den so my wife could watch UK games and still be on the computer. This unit seemed to have the basics I wanted (Netflix with multiple hdmi) plus Roku, which I had never used. I was very pleased when I found that it was 10 lbs, had many great smart features, good interface and my 9 year old daughter was able to set it up completely (including wifi connection) herself. Great product for the price, even though it's a refurb.

very good picture for 720 pixels. First experience with Roku. This enhances the value for me. But a few things missing that I should NOT have to give up -- NO GUIDE; only turn on and off button physically on tv; no numbers on remote - just scrolling up & down; does not automatically turn on to antenna/network tv - must first select a service (antenna tv, hdmi device, Netflix, etc). Remote is just too limiting -- probably need a spare remote too since the tv does NOT do anything but cut on and off without it.

Purchased this tv as a gift for my teenage son--this smart tv is easy to use, has a great picture and was bought at an excellent price. He mostly uses it with his Playstation and to watch Netflix. In fact, I'm very hopeful to pick up this tv during the holiday season again for another one of my sons--just waiting for a great price during the holidays!

I was looking for a TV that wasn't huge but with a lot of the features of bigger ones. I can access all of my streaming channels and regular over-the-air stations using one remote. The picture quality and sound are very good. The remote takes a little getting used to, and you can't key in station numbers like most remotes, but I have figured it out. I feel this was a very good value for the price.

Great little t.v., and the Roku rocks!

This was my first Smart T.V. I'm not a "t.v. person," and didn't have a television in my new apartment, really didn't want one, but my laptop screen is small and I like watching documentaries and informational videos online.
This Insignia was a good price (recently it's dropped a bit). I didn't know anything about Roku, but this t.v. had great reviews. It was very light and easy to set up.
Once I got it home, I didn't set it up for a month--but once I did, I've used it regularly since! The picture quality is great, and I have it sat up at the foot of my bed, maybe 6 or 7 feet away. The sound is really good for such a small, flat-screen t.v.; however, I try to keep my volume down and this particular set seems to produce considerably louder music and related sounds than it does speech sounds from programs. This is an issue with my thin walls and neighbors, because I seem to be trading off between not hearing what's being said on the t.v. and having the music or sound effects from the program being louder than I prefer. In all, this isn't a major issue.
The Roku feature is great, too! The channels on Roku aren't usually that great, but there's some interesting programs you can find, as well as some free movie channels, though most will likely have ads. But for someone that neither has nor wants cable and has low-maintenance t.v. needs, this is great. I recommended a friend return her Smart T.V. of another brand and get one with Roku, which she did, and is very glad of that decision.

New TV for the kids

We were looking for a new TV for the kids that would help minimize the clutter. The TV fit perfectly into the existing tv mount, and with it we were able to do away with the Roku since it was built in. The picture quality and refresh rate go great with all the shows. The Roku option is nice and easy to manuever through, giving and limiting access to different channels. The remote mimics the Roku set up with ease of use and minimal buttons.

I was looking for a regular sized tv for my studio apartment. The tv is good sized and is easy to use with the roku built in. Only issues are that the sensor for the remote sometimes isn't interested in picking up the remote (trust me, I've changed the batteries, it's the sensor) and that the internet connection needs a minute before accessing any of the apps. Very easy to set up and use.

I bought this for my son. He mostly watches You Tube videos so the Roku is definitely beneficial for him! Great quality for not being a common brand and 720p version, but I didn't want to spend too much for an extra TV in my son's room. I feel I made a great choice and will not be discouraged by insignia products going forward!

This TV was purchased as an extra household TV for my Husband's “Man Cave.” Great price point and a very nice quality. We are an Amazon family, so I was unsure on the built in Roku. I was surprised how easy it was to set up and there was even an Amazon app. We are very happy with the purchase! Very lightweight too, so easy to move from room to room if needed.

TV is just the right size for my purpose. While exercising in the back room can watch the ballgame. The Ruko TV works very well when using the application for MLB. Mush easier to set up than a smart TV. Can switch from antenna to streaming in less than ten seconds.
Oh and the price was unbelievable low - just a little over a C-note.

We recently cut the cable and went streaming. I needed quality without breaking the bank. Three bedrooms and a family room. I went with these because the prices were awesome. Bought 4 tv total. We've had them a little less than a year and I love them. No problems so far. Next summer we'll be going bigger and I'll be purchasing insignia again.
