I called to make appt to have camera cleaned as per my protection plan...drove hour and half just to be told they don't clean them. The geek squad didn't seem to have a clue and the people at service number was total clueless. What is the plan good for if they don't honor it....just more money for them

My camera stopped working, I am not sure why. I had it stored in a Sea to Summit bag to protect it from rain and the humidity that I live in and it would not turn on when I took it out a few days later. I paid for the Best Buy geek squad 2 year plan. As I live on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, there are no Best Buy locations here. For months I have been trying to get my camera repaired by sending it to a store. I spoke with someone at first and he sent me a shipping label to get it to a store to be repaired, but 2 months later I got my camera back with a letter saying it could not be returned. That was not what I was told I was shipping it for. It came back damaged. I’ve been on the phone for at least 15 hours at this point (really more) with no resolution and just keep being transferred or given a different number to call. Most recently one that I have left 2messages on and received no calls back. When I finally got someone in the line, the company they referenced me to doesnt even do fujifilm camera repairs?! I just want this camera repaired. I bought it to use for work. I spent 1500 dollars on it and now I feel like I’m spending that much worth of my time to repair it— if it is so difficult to have it shipped for a repair, please just send me a new one? Or give me an option for fixing it please. I just want assistance. I appreciate the product. Customer service has really been absurdly difficult and an extreme waste of my time. I can not get anyone physical on the phone in any of the Hawaii stores.

Geek squad is a joke and Best Buy in store worse
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased Sony alpha 7ii camera in 2016 with 2 year accidental damage protection plan. We gave it to Best Buy secaucus ,NJ store for cleaning while our camera still had protection plan . A month later I get a call from Best Buy saying your camera is ready for pick up, we go to the store and notice the camera hasn’t been cleaned at all, it’s even dirtier then when we left it there. The customer service rep helping us noticed the camera wasn’t sent out for cleaning at all and it was just sitting in the store for a MONTH. We were asked to give it back for cleaning but we had to leave for a trip and by the time we came back our service plan was expired. We went back to the store to activate our service to give it back for cleaning however now the stores refuses to activate the plan and recommends calling geek squad. I have been back and forth with geek squad for last 4 weeks and they keep blaming each other for the issue. I just need to get my camera cleaned, I didn’t know it was such a big deal. Best Buy customer service is going down the drain.

Wasted Money - Confused Kids

I ordered the creative studio Canon M50. The Rode mic didn't work, but the camera worked fine. However, I had to return the entire thing because I didn't want a refective mic, and Rode would not take it back since it was bought through Bestbuy's creator's pack. Each time, I am losing money & time, by the way, with the squad protection. They couldn't find orders that were submitted online in the store for the correct price. It was a MESS. I bought a new one. This time it was not the creative studio, just the Canon M50. My Mac would not recognize the M50 regardless of any recommended cords used. I scheduled the appointment, and they weren't prepared. They didn't even have a proper cord to test it. They sent it in to be checked, couldn't find an issue. I had to return it because it wasn't usable for what I needed it for. Geek Squad protection is not refundable, and they did NOTHING.

Valued at time of purchase...

Well, something happened and when I went to get it serviced I was only approved for the "value" of my camera at the time of purchase and since it has raised in value I could not replace my camera but had to downgrade, with the "value" I had. I still unfortunately recommend this because replacing a device out of pocket can sometimes break us. Just wish I had my original camera.

They didn’t repair my camera I just photographed a wedding worth my repaired camera and lost all of my files and the screen kept resetting and they don’t replace my camera I’m extremely upset

Disappointed

Called to take my camera in for a cleaning but was informed my protection had expired with no notice. Called corporate and wouldn't work with me even though it had been less than a month. I will not give them my business anymore.

While our system will attempt to send a courtesy reminder to the email address on file, we can't always promise that email won't be lost or filtered. I personally recommend saving the purchase receipt for any plans or memberships, as they typically should list the beginning and expiration dates for any coverage provides. Geek squad accidental protection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't! Geek squat gives people jobs and that's good, but their quality of warranty is really poor. Also some of their staff seems a bit knowledgeable and will only explain if they feel like it. Truly, save your money and find a local shop, you might save money going that route. I took a laptop to be sent out, had warranty, they shipped it out and came in without screws. Advice: take pictures at store before shipping that way they don't come back to you saying it was already like that.

Not how the protection plan is supposed to work

I purchased the protection plan specifically so I wouldn't have to deal with stuff like this.

Bought the added insurance, had a computer issue
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the added insurance the store offered and low and behold had a camera flaw that could not be fixed and then they had the tenacity to say your camera has been taken off our shelves so insurance cannot exchange cameras for you as it was supposed to do...but instead it will give you a refund of what you paid and you can buy a more expensive camera on your dollar,,.,, they should replace with the same or one close to it since I did not decide to stop carrying the product. BOOO for best buy and their insurance policy.

Camera warranty

We were not told about the LONG wait time when purchasing the warranty. It makes us very hesitant to buy an large purchases at Best Buy again.

Replacement plan

Service sucks geek squad not worth it
