I purchased an Rt-68 router and did not set it up correctly. Called Asus and the first thing they said was where did you purchase it I replied Best Buy. They said take it back. I did. Purchased another. Set it up worked great for 5 days begin to lose connection LAN port 2, called Asus support several times. They keep saying it was my internet provider. After researching the problem I think it was a simple click of a box I did not make in the routers setup. But Asus could not help me. They said take it back to Best Buy. As I returned it the sales person helping me said that is what Asus support does all the time.

I know these types of products pretty well. This one often did not work as expected (from a UI perspective) it did its job and very well - sometimes you could not even get to the UI to change things the way you wanted to. The basic system configuration did work acceptably though so changing things wasn't _required_ to get an acceptable configuration, but sometimes you do want to change hthin

Nice upgrade if you have a large home. No drops or disconnects moving laptop from room to room.

This has really improved my home internet and I have many on it with mulitple tech items

I recently changed to Comcast (25mbps) which required me to place the router at one end of the house (2500 sq ft.) on the lower level. My old router, Belkin N series, could not reach to the other end of the house without the speed dropping off drastically. I purchased a Netgear N750 expecting that to solve my problems. It was an improvement but not enough to make the devices functional at the opposite end of the house. Speeds dropped off considerably 30 feet away to almost nothing upstairs at the far end. I looked at using an extender but the router and extender were similar price to Asus Ac1900. I returned the Netgear router and decided to spend the extra 20 dollars or so and go with the Asus router. I made a great decision. The router has the distance and the speed. I was able to cover the whole house from one corner. The speed diminishes very little throughout house. Set up was very easy. I would recommend this router to anyone who has issues with coverage distance.

I upgraded to one of the best routers reviewed BUT the range and speed have been no better than my older style Netgear N600. Way too complicated procedure for the avg user to tweek some additional power out of the router even with the highly touted on line setup screens. I spent significantly more expecting more out of Asus and I've been significantly disappointed.

So far i like it. The only issue is that i am having trouble getting ftp connections for outside the house.

The set up process is obnoxious and requires tweaking to turn off guest accounts it opens password free.

I searched the internet for every possible review regarding the Netgear Nighthawk R7000, Linksys WRT1900AC, and the Asus RT-AC68R. Though, I was initially drawn to the Netgear because it is popular with gamers and that is ultimately why I was purchasing this router. Once I found out that the range of the 2.4GHz was SO-SO I immediately crossed that router off my list. The reviews on the Linksys were all over the board. Reviews stated it is extremely fast and the range is out of this world, yet I kept reading that people were complaining about bugs with this new router, signal drop, and just overall frustration with its speed. It seemed to me that the experts were excited about the possibilities of this new product, but once out in the real world it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Personally, I couldn't tell you either way because I chose to purchase the Asus. The only thing I found on the Asus was there was a security issue, which almost scared me away immediately, but after further reading it was on a previous model and they fixed the issue. Outside of that this router is fantastic. It is super fast and easy to set up. I have it in my basement near the south wall. I can go to the second story of my house at the north wall and still have a full signal with amazing speed. My house is 2400 sq ft. I am more than satisfied with its performance. Router settings are very easy to navigate through and even if you are not an expert with routers you will feel comfortable with it. Purchase this router with confidence and you will not be disappointed.
