    Not too bad.

I thought this wasn't too bad. I don't know about the price since I bought it with the whole GH:WT set, but it works pretty well. I like its comfort and the larger select button. It's easier to activate star power because it should be right behind your palm. If you're the type of person that'll screw up if you have to tilt the guitar just to get a x8 multiplier (like me), you know what I'm talking about. However, the touch strip seems like prototype quality. I've recently discovered that it's more heat sensitive than anything, and all you have to do is place your hand over it for it to register a note. What also bothers me is that if you're someone (again, like me) who will sit on the bed or a couch and play guitar hero, then (I don't know, maybe this is just my habit) you'll kind of lean over the controller a bit. I guess this might just be a problem with internal wiring or something because if I'm siting and playing guitar hero, and I'm leaning over the body of the guitar, it'll register as a strum when I don't even touch the strum bar. That bothers me. With that in mind, the whammy bar acts up a little bit too. After 3 days of use, it began to squeak when I tried to use it, so I would say be gentle with it. Apart from that, I like it. It's more durable than the GH3 controller and works a little better.

Fails to meet true gaming requirements

I bought this guitar w/ guitar hero world tour. Worked flawlessly for about a month. Had problem with the strum button sticking, in an effort to keep the game going, I improvised and learned to use the strum button upward, that soon failed. Then I switched to using the tap slider thing. No problems with it, however when I had friends who wanted to play, they disliked using the alternate method. I've since called activision and they sent me a replacement free of charge. No other guitar to suggest, just suggest finding something else.

I originally bought the full kit the day it came out. This past weekend I decided to purchase a second guitar since my les paul no longer works. The guitar I got with the kit, which is almost 6 mos. old, still works BEAUTIFULLY. However, the new one is a hunk of junk. By the time I began playing my second song, the strum bar lost it's normal click and instead started to squeak. So, I took it back to exchange for a new one. Being a little skeptical, I decided to open it in the car and sure enough, two strums in, it's starts squeaking. Packed it up, took it back in and exchanged for the last one. Customer Service was kind enough to let me open it to test it out first, and it was fine. Took it home, started to play, and the squeak returned. 3 controllers in 3 days from the same store? I don't know if they were damaged during shipment, or if Activision is having issues, but either way I have to waste even MORE time today to exchange this one. The only saving grace is that the Customer Service people at Best Buy are extremely pleasant and patient.

    Pick a different one

The slider is nice for effects but as soon as you hover over it, the game will count that as a strum which messes up your score on the game. Strum bar too large, and the buttons are not very responsive at times.

    Worked well in the beginning

For the first few months, the guitar worked very well. Lately, after 3-4 months of playing every other day, the guitar is failing to hit the notes. No its not the user. Strumming the guitar does not even show on the screen half the time. I have not used any other guitar, so I have no comparison with other guitars.

    Don't Buy This

I've gone through 3 of these. FIrst one, the contacts in the neck broke within 2 weeks, so the green button didn't work. Second one, the strummer started to double-strum whenever down strummed. Third one, orange and blue buttons broke within a month. Do not buy this, it is a waste of your money. Also if you like guitar hero strummers, don't buy this one, it's just like rock band's.

I have been playing GH for a while now. I learned on the Les Pauls and they were fine. I got WT last night with the guitar and was up all night! The guitar feels great, is responsive and the frets feel much better. Also, the weight and durability of this axe is far superior to previous guitars.
