Very fast read/write speeds and it was a good price. Disappointed ADATA changed the controllers on these to make them slower. I received the slower version. It likely won't matter for my usage, but you can google about this issue to learn more.

Hello FirstPCBuild,
We are sorry about the inconvenience with the Controller change, we have since changed all SX8200 Pro 1TB and 2TB models back to the SM2262EN controller on all Best Buy stock. If you still own the SX8200 Pro drive with the SM2262G controller, you may reach out to us and we would be happy to replace the drive for you with one with the SM2262EN controller.

On Aug 5, 2021, I purchased a 2TB ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro Series as it was on sale and the Adata Technology Team said they replaced all stock with the original faster controller. Not true in my case.
Just my bad luck (or a mistake by ADATA?) I guess because while the Adata Technology team said that "All stock through Best Buy on the 1TB and 2TB SX8200 Pro drives contain the SM2262EN controller", I received the version with the new *but* nerfed/slower SM2262G contoller. Really disappointed (see attached photo).
So 1 out of 5 for quality: ADATA said they replaced all best buy stock with the SM2262EN but versions with the slower SM2262G controller are sill being sold.
1 out of 5 for value: Due to slower SM2262G controller on a supposedly "Pro Series" SSD.
Will I contact [email protected] for a replacement? Probably not. I typically have low expectations for all customer support. Also, I would probably have to spend additional money and time to ship my SSD back to ADATA, then wait (more time spent) for them to ship back an SSD. Then I run the risk of ADATA making the same mistake and sending me an SSD with the same nerfed/slower controller (given the chip shortage and all).
So is it still a lottery, as in you don't really know which controller you will get until you open the box? A good capitalist probably would not replace the entire stock as it is costly and will hurt profits. So, in my case, it turned out to be a lottery as I thought they (ADATA and/or Best Buy) replaced all stock with the original faster controllers, but I received the one with the slower controller.
Will I return it to best buy for an exchange? I would (if my local store had some in stock) for another chance to get one with the original SM2262EN controller. But if Best Buy had given me a replacement with the same slower controller, I'll probably have to settle and keep it. It is still cheaper than the other 2TB M.2 SSD's (but may no longer have the same good value/performance compared to the original PG Pro Series SX8200).
Should Best Buy or ADATA should change the product name to reflect the possibility that you might get a version with the slower controller? That would probably be the right thing to do, as it does allow the consumer to make an more informed decision.
So I'll just have to lower my expectations, take it like a good consumer, and (try to) have peace that I got the "New but Slower Controller" ADATA XPG "Pro Series" SX8200. I hope Best Buy indicates this somewhere on the Product Description to Caveat Emptor for "Slower Controller" ADATA XPG Pro Series SX8200. Good capitalists will know that eventually we the consumers will have to settle anyway, hehe.
If you end up buying this, I hope you win the "lottery" and get the one with the original faster controller.

Reliability, performance, and value are my priorities in choosing storage hardware. Needing more space, this Adata XPG 2TB Nvme replaces a 2 year old reliable 1TB 970 EVO Nvme. The Adata price and warranty was my deciding factor. Installed and running 2 months now without issue. Have not noticed any performance difference in my every day use. Included software re registration/use was challenging.

Pros - Solid PCIe 3.0 NVME drive, my 2TB came with the SM2262ENG controller. Do think the controller issues have been blown out of proportion. Drive doesn't run as hot as my old Corsair MP500 - on the cooler side for a speedy 3.0 drive.
Cons - 3.0 spec is pretty much limited by the bus rather than the drive these days, so no 3.0 drive will blow you away if you're become used to the speed of top end 3.0 drives.
Conclusion - Save some money if you're looking for a 3.0 drive and get drives like these on sale.

Plenty fast at pci 3.0, lots of space on the 2tb model. Only problem I had was that heat shield is STICKY make sure you have it lined up exactly the way you want it because you are not getting it off. I now have a crooked heat spreader on it lol.

Bought this to replace an HDD that I had for all my games, works so well! Made sure to cross check the chip on the board vs. what ADATA advertised (due to their recent scandal) and benchmarks, works as expected. Looks like ADATA is back! Great price for what it is, does its job well (without any crazy bells and whistles) and helps my PC run cooler. Love it!

The best performance/price 2TB SSD

This is the best SSD for the performance/price. I usually pick a different brand SSD than the one I already have. But as much as I research, I can not find any competitive SSD with the same price range.
So far all my 2TB NVME SSDs from ADATA/XPG have SM2262ENG controller with Micron 64-layer 3D TLC NAND which I believe the good one.

Fast SSD, keeps up with my Samsung EVO no problem. Excellent quality and materials. So far no problem with heat either. It may not be PCI 4.0, but it won’t let you down for the size and price, especially if you catch it on sale.

Good NVMe drive, it's runs a lot faster than my SSD especially when copying large files. I've had a 512 GB before, but it was just way too small. 2TB is just the right size.

This SSD is double sided, for those of you who are using razer blades or other thin laptops it could cause an issue there, was for me, this is 2tb and should really fit on one side. In addition ADATA are not giving acronis true image home out any more (error shows up on their website and they suggest you download freeware) and the website doesn't let me register the SSD. All these things point to sketchy practice so i returned.

Hello Barbs,
We apologize for the issues with registration on our website, at the time we were experiencing technical difficulties due to system maintenance being performed and taking much longer than expected. Acronis is still free when purchasing qualifying ADATA/XPG Products and are available to anyone that register their drive on our website. If you choose to give ADATA another chance in the future, we would happily assist you with any problems you may encounter at [email protected]

Fast drive, runs a little hot, so if you put it in a laptop, a thermal pad may be needed. Make sure you check that the controller is the better version (SM2262EN controller).

Awesome NVME drive! Super easily installation. I was lucky in that I got the model with the older controller (note ADATA was shady and recently changed their controller to a new one without telling customers and the new controller is slightly slower than the old one). I forgot whether the old or new controller ends in "EN" but all I know is I got the old controller and Im happy with it. Only way to tell is by looking at the chip on the drive itself (not on the package or website). Most ppl wont notice the diff in the two controllers but if you're stingy about numbers, that's the only reason you'd be upset. Also I believe its mainly the 2TB that still have the older controllers but who knows.

This is a fast NVMe SSD that uses TLC cells at a reasonable price. I would have no complaints if not for the fact that ADATA changed the controller without telling anyone, and the newer controller isn't as performant as the old one. Tom's Hardware did a great article on this if you need more details. I ended up getting one with the old controller, but it seems pretty random which controller you will end up with. The newer controller is not bad, but the older controller is better. Just something to be aware of if you are looking to purchase this SSD.
