The end of my waterline leading up to the back of the freezer did not have the right type of end on it. I had to call in a plumber to install it, which cost me another $100. Also, I had to wait 2 months for the new ice maker to arrive in order to be installed, and I was very frustrated about that.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.They stripped out the threads holding the water tube to the back of the box by using a screw gun carelessly, and lost two of the retainers. They didn't install the strain reliefs on the hose, and weren't going to put a foam block on the back of the unit until I showed them the instructions and told them to do it. They didn't want to read the instructions, ("We know how to install an icemaker.") and didn't understand when they did read them. I installed the strain reliefs, repaired the stripped threads and made replacements for the parts they lost. It's an easy, simple job if one can read and understand plain instructions.

Not familiar with the unit

The freezer door has 2 dings - thinking from the install when the door was removed and put on the floor while they crawled into the freezer to install the icemaker. They tried.

Installation

We call Best Buy and made an appointment for the following Saturday. We waited all day and no one showed up. We have a 5 year warranty that we purchased and at this point I am wondering if this was a waste of money. We wonder if someone show up under warranty.

awful experience

I purchased a refrigerator and ice maker that were installed June 13 and June 20 respectively. That install was so bad, you gave me $200 in late June as compensation. Since then things have gotten even worse, if that's possible. The refrigerator leaked from the beginning, and the ice maker made ice cubes that froze together within minutes of being produced. On July 8, dealing with the main item, the refrigerator, the geek squad came to my house and fixed the leak. Then, after experimenting with literally every freezer temperature setting from 1 to 7, with no success in resolving the problem of the ice cubes freezing together (of which I have pictures), I set up a geek squad appointment to fix it. I discussed and explained the problem in advance, and geek squad said they'd send someone to fix it. On the scheduled date, August 7, the geek squad called and said they were on their way to install a new ice maker. I explained to them they were to fix an existing one, not install a new one. They said they couldn't do that, that they were only technicians for installation. They didn't know how to fix an ice maker. So that was a wasted day of waiting. They put me in touch with someone from the geek squad by phone who told me, contrary to what they said a few days earlier when I set up this service call, that this problem was not solvable, that i'd need a new ice maker, and to call the exchange service within the geek squad. I called the number they gave me a few days later and they told me they couldn't help. I'd have to go to the store. So on August 14, I went to the best buy store, and the person I dealt with said best buy doesn't sell that ice maker anymore, but he went on the computer and found out home depot does. So he told me to purchase it from home depot and geek squad would install it. I did that, and got the ice maker and set up an appointment for September 1. On that day, the geek squad comes again but they say they can't install an item from another store - they haven't been told in advance that this was what they were going to be doing - so after some time, they talked to a supervisor, who tells them to take out the old one and replace it with the new one I purchased from home depot. They do so but they do so improperly, as I later find out. The new icemaker doesn't make any ice, only drips water into the bin. I have pictures of that, as well. So on September 14, I go to the best buy again and deal with a manager, who says that we should try to repair that second ice maker (rather than replace it at that point) and if it can't be repaired, he thinks that means the refrigerator is defective. It is unlikely there would be two defective ice makers. So the purpose of the next visit would be to determine if the ice maker was properly installed, and if it was, and since it was malfunctioning, that meant the refrigerator was defective and would have to be replaced. So the manager helps me set up a geek squad appointment for September 16. (even the manager doesn't have easy access to the geek squad; he just gave me the number and I waited on my cell phone to get through, in his presence) On September 16, I get an email at 2:58 that the expected time of arrival is 3:20. I wait around until 6, which is the end of the delivery window (12-6). For some as yet unexplained reason, no one shows up, despite the email (I still have the email). I call the geek squad, and "Ken" tells me he will try to get in touch with the repair person and call me back. He never does. So a few days later, after no explanation and no call back from the geek squad explaining anything or apologizing or anything, I have to call geek squad again to set up another appointment, which I do, for September 21. Finally, on September 21, the icemaker gets fixed and the repair person explained to me how the installers didn't properly install the icemaker on September 1 and he wasn't surprised it didn't work. Water wasn't routed to where it needed to get routed to. I have yet to get a refund for the ice maker you took on September 1. I called today, was on hold for 40 minutes, and spent another hour on the phone after that finding out that it looked like a refund was provided but the representative didn't know the date. (And they agreed to put it through again.) I also requested compensation for all these wasted days and incompetent and uninformed repair persons (largely uninformed because presumably their bosses failed to tell them basic information about what service was needed) and bad information that I have received on the phone (whether the ice maker was fixable; whether I could exchange it through the geek squad exchange service, etc. ). I was told because I had already received $200, there was nothing else they could do for me. That compensation was for egregious problems I had back in June. This is three months later, five geek squad and two best buy store visits later, and the problem just resolved September 21. Further, I was told that your records on my account show various other so called "make good" benefits I received and also show cancellations of orders, all of which is inaccurate. The facts are as set forth above. So if you expect me to ever make a purchase from best buy again, I really suggest you address these issues. The incompetence of the geek squad process was incredible; communicating with best buy via telephone is laughable; the amount of time spent on hold was mind boggling. Altogether this was the worst experience I've had with a store in a long, long time. And this can't be blamed on COVID. There were very basic customer service protocols that you failed to follow and basic service standards that you failed to meet.

Best buy got it done!

Customer service at the store, first one install team and then a second a couple of days later, all stayed with it until it was complete. Sometimes when things go wrong they stay messed up. Not here Not with best buy. Thats really all you can ask. Nice work!

Installation

The problem however lies with scheduling. It was not on the original paperwork for the day the refrigerator was delivered. I had to wait 4 weeks for door reversal until they came with back ordered ice maker. Then when they came with ice maker they were just going to drop it off and said they were not aware of installation of ice maker or door reversal. They did both which I greatly appreciated. It was not their fault and I know it put them behind schedule.

Block ice installation

I had scheduled to have an icemaker installed. I advised the operator that I had an icemaker from LG that they replaced. The day of the installation I was informed that they could not do the installation I had already paid for the visit.

Don't waste your money

The installation was HORRIBLE. There was an issue with it when it was first set up, it sprayed water all over the freezer. When I brought that to the installers attention he told me that was normal and walked out. when I went after him, he made a very snide comment about me. I will continue to be a Best Buy customer but will insist this specific person NEVER be the delivery person for us.

Problem Install
