Beast of a machine

Perfect for VR, gaming, and video production. Lighting customization options are endless. Easy to keep updated with regular updates that aren't too frequent, but just enough to know they are keeping up with their products.

I thought mine was too until I opened it up and realized they didn’t have the video card fully seated.... not sure if this was your issue or not. I’m also having the same issue as 99% of you with warzone. FPS is garbage going to try some things tonight to find the exact issue here the hardware itself I know isn’t the issue everything in this machine should run warzone just fine. Definately something with the setup of the machine. And considering the quality control of the video card install, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t even have thermal paste under the cpu. Going to give it one more day of messing around with it otherwise it will be back in Best Buy’s hands incredible that they haven’t pulled this off there shelves.

The only way this is worth buying is if you are willing to invest in a new case / cooling solution. Which at that point, even dismissing the silicon shortage mark up pricing, brings this computers price well beyond reasonable.

This is my first gaming computer, so I may not be the best source. That being said, as a computer novice, I can't see anything I would complain about yet. Maybe the SSD only being 256 GB, but that's easily remedied

Not worth the money

Figured I’d buy a prebuild with the whole gpu shortage right now and on league of legends, one of the least graphically demanding games out there, gpu crashed. Fans were kicking on to the max to run a game so simple. It at least had the frames it should but as loud as it was and a gpu crash within 2 weeks, Alienware needs to step it up.

Major Thermal Issues

I have ran multiple tests and scenarios but even when the computer is idle temperatures are still too high. Running games bring up the CPU temperature between 185F to 200F. CPU Temperatures should not exceed 176F. This is not safe I don't feel comfortable leaving my computer running while away from home. I have come to the conclusion that these thermal issues cause it to underperform. I will be returning this computer unfortunately.

Use it primarily for work and some gaming, running COD, APEX, and sports games. The starting RAM works well with one application open at a time and I recently added more and runs fantastic with multiple open. There is an energy consumption warning with it at state level but as long as you're not on it 16 hours a day, it is fine. I would say the R12 is one of the better pre-built out there for the price. There is not a lot of room inside the case to add modifications and I have read that it is best to keep it the way it is besides adding ram and maybe swapping one fan out.
