Fire stick stuck on black screen

I've had this product for a total of 14 days and after about 10 days it has begun to malfunction. I would turn on the tv and navigate to the fire stick hdmi input and the screen would just remain black. I've switched to different hdmi ports, tried to reset the fire stick, unplugged and replugged and nothing works. This product is poorly made and I will never purchase one again. Furthermore, I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Restart your Fire TV device. Disconnect the Fire TV device from the HDMI port then plug it back in. Use the power cord or adapter included with your device to plug the Fire TV device. This ensures Fire TV has access to enough power. Let the device sit for 25 min (turned on) or until the screen changes. If possible, try with and without an HDMI adapter or extender. Make sure that you're using a high-speed HDMI cable. Try using a different HDMI port. If possible try using a different TV. If none of these have resolved the issue you are having, a factory reset may be necessary.
To factory reset your Fire TV device with your remote:
If needed, safely eject expandable storage. Press and hold the Back button and the right side of the navigation circle together for 10 seconds. On the TV screen, choose to continue or cancel the factory reset. If you don't choose, the device resets automatically after several more seconds. If these steps do not help and you are still experiencing issues, you can always reach out to Amazon Customer Support 24/7 at 1-888-280-4331. Sad sad sad horrible company and business I’m still waiting on my purchase since cyber Monday this company is ridiculous I advise against anyone ever to buy anything from Best Buy they are nothing but a rip off no contact from them you can’t call the store because they don’t receive calls so this is really really really really really sad for s company o will never in my life buy anything from these people

I purchased this as an upgrade to an older model cause i need more storage for applications. Specifications had it listed with 8gb however after going through the setup i discovered the device only had 5gb which is what my previous device has which isnt enough for me. Bestbuy please correct this!

Every device will list the total storage capacity amounts with the system software always taking up a portion of that. That is the standard across all electronics devices with storage capacity. One thing that we do have available is additional options in our lineup that address this in the event that 8GB (not including system software) isn't enough. We have our Fire Stick 4K Max and our Fire TV Cube devices that both come with additional features and speeds and both boast a 16GB storage capacity. You can contact the location you purchased this at and see if you are within your exchange period to see if you can switch to one of those models. Fire Stick does not work with home theater system

Once installed, I could access shows, but there was no sound. I could not get the firestick to work with my home theater sound system. numerous phone calls to Amazon support and a few hours trying to find solutions were not fruitful. However, since I purchased this Fire stick more than two weeks ago, I can no longer return it to Best Buy for a refund since that have such a short window of time for such returns.

Thank you for your feedback on the Fire TV Stick 4K. I’m sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with sound not playing on your home theater system. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to try: 1. Check that your equipment supports the audio format you're trying to use. To see supported audio settings, use the Audio and Video Diagnostics tool on your Fire TV device: a. Go to Settings on your Fire TV device. b. Select Display & Sounds. c. Select Audio/Video Diagnostics to see supported settings. 2. If the audio format you want to use is detected, but content being streamed is in a different audio format: a. Use the test video at the bottom of the page to confirm that your equipment setup supports surround sound. b. Check that the content supports surround sound. 3. If the audio format you want to use isn’t detected, it can’t be played with your current equipment setup: a. Make sure that your equipment supports surround sound and is set up correctly. Some AVRs will require height speakers for Atmos support. Check the user manual that came with your devices or contact the manufacturer for more help. b. Make sure that you’re using a high-speed HDMI cable. Optical cables don’t fully support surround sound. c. Connect your Fire TV device directly to the HDMI input on your soundbar or AV receiver. You can use another HDMI cable to connect your soundbar or AV receiver to the HDMI ARC input on your TV. d. Change your audio format to a lower setting. Go to Settings on your Fire TV device and then Display & Sounds. If these steps do not help and your are still disappointed with the device you can reach Amazon Customer service 24/7 for assistance. Applications wouldn't load. Ended call Amazon Support Team. They couldn't fix it either via screen sharing in/on my TV Screen to troubleshoot the Firestick. They ended up replacing it for free with my return of the 1 I purchased from BestBuy.

Hello installable! I am so sorry to hear about the challenges you are having with your Fire Stick. It should definitely not be shutting off on its own like that. You can try to see if you have a pending software update that may be affecting your experience. You can do this by navigating to Settings>Device and Software>My Fire Stick> Check for Updates. If this has any pending updates, it will download and install them and power cycle your Fire Stick for you. As for the difficulty of trying to find programs after a power cycle like that, you can use Alexa by pressing and holding the Alexa button and then saying the name of the show you were watching. We have had repeated instances where our tv can’t pick up streaming channels. Very disappointing and irritating, although I can’t blame just the Firestick.

know. What I do know is, twice now I have invested too much time trouble-shooting, calling, driving, shopping for a device that seems to malfunction or wear out too often.

Hi SamF, I am sorry your having trouble setting up your Fire TV Stick 4K. Here are some steps to try and get your Fire Stick working: -Put the batteries into the remote. -Connect the power cable to the power adapter and the Stick. -Plug in the Stick to the TV's HDMI port. Use the HDMI extender cable if it's difficult to plug the Stick into the TV's HDMI port. -Plug in the power adapter to the wall. Avoid plugging the USB cable directly into the TV. -Turn on your TV and switch to the correct HDMI input. Tip: Use the remote that came with your TV to select the HDMI source or input. Use your mobile phone to scan QR code to automatically add Wi-Fi settings and complete registration or use the remote instead to set up manually. If you choose to use the remote instead, follow the on-screen instructions to connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with your Amazon account. Use your mobile phone or computer to visit the on-screen web address (amazon.com/code) and enter the activation code. -Follow the on-screen questions to set up equipment control for devices like soundbars.
