I originally purchased this CPU as a starter for a gaming computer for my kids. Was great when it first booted up but as soon as windows 10 was installed and update began this thing drags! Decided to do a fresh install on my i7700k and it was finished performing tasks and installs in nearly half the time of this build with AMD. And both are running same ram and SSDs. Was so disappointed at the performance. Works great for gaming but I cant see how anyone would use this for multitasking large software and multiple scenarios.

I upgraded from an i7-4790k that I paid $330 for new. This cpu is much faster for half the price. I know it’s not fair comparing 4 year old tech to brand new, but I’m comparing what I get for my money. 6 core 12 threads of performance for under $180!! Also, your mileage may vary of course but this is a decent overclocker. I have a 280mm aio cooler and I was able to get 4.1GHz on all 6 cores with only 1.32v. With my cooler the temps are in the mid 50s and max out as 62 in normal use like gameplay or video conversion. If you run a stress test it will get hotter but that’s an edge case for stability not typical of erveryday use I think.
Great features and great price. You won’t be disappointed. The stock cooler does a great job too. I have a friend that doesn’t overclock and his temps are in the 60s with the stock cooler.

AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core 3.4 GHz Desktop CPU

Build your own custom motherboard beginning with this AMD Ryzen 5 processor. Its six cores and 12 threads provide powerful processing capability for system-intensive tasks, and its base/boost speed sits at 3.4GHz and 3.9GHz, respectively, for efficient overclocking. This AMD Ryzen 5 processor has a Wraith Stealth cooler to keep components from overheating.

This is a six core fairly easy to overclock, great gaming or editing cpu. Very easy to set up, comes with pre applied thermal solution, and the stock cooler is good enough to keep my temps low. Could not rave more about it.

Had an old eMachines with an original Intel i5 that finally died (its been on its way out from a lightening strike) a half working motherboard and CPU were the last surviving pieces. Once they died I needed an immediate replacement. BestBuy had this in stock so this is what I got. Overall it is a nice processor for the price. I'm not a gamer however I run several VMs, Containers and bloated IDE's. This has no problem keeping up.
Installation was super easy. The included heat-sink w/ all mounting hardware is a nice touch.
Currently working on Ubuntu w/ 16 gigs of RAM and 2 x 4K monitors.

Great Powerhouse that punches above its weight class. I have purchased 2 of these cpu's and put in my machine and my brothers. Both overclock to 4ghz on all cores and threads for everyday use and temps do not go above 73c when using a hyper 212 black cpu air cooler. I love this cpu and recommend it to anybody who has a budget and will be using a discrete graphics card.

The Ryzen 5 2600 Six-ore 3.4 GHz desktop Processor is doing the job very well. I have not had any problems with it on my gaming desktop computer. It performs very well and the Wraith Stealth Cooler is very quit. I like it very much. I did have the Ryzen 3 2200 G before this which did very well but decided to go for a six-core CPU. I am very satisfied with it. I would recommend it to anyone building a gaming computer.

I built my first PC using this chip after several days of research trying to find the best cost per performance for my build. I paired this with the GTX 1660 oc card and 16 Gb ram. This chip handles very smoothly. Better in my opinion than the I series from intel that I use daily at work. It is also over clockable. I bought it on sale and it came with two free games. How can you beat a deal like that.

I bought this for my little brother's PC build. This is a great CPU since it can game and do content creating, compared to Intel's where they are only good for gaming and not so great for content creating. It also has 6 cores, which means it can run more in the background than a 4 core intel card. Recommend this to anyone who is starting a PC build or is looking to upgrade without breaking the bank.

Best Processor For The Price

I had read that while not as fast as the 2500x, the Ryzen 5 2600 was more amenable to overclocking. While only having six cores rather than the eight of the 2700 series, that was all it really needed. The big seller was that it was only half the price of the 2700x. I went for the 2600, and I haven't regretted the decision. It's a good CPU for gaming and for work, and so far I've had no cause to complain.

Installed Ryzen 5 2600 processor on MSI B450 Tamahawk Motherboard Build. No issues with install. Early indications are that it works well. So far booted Ubuntu 18.04 on Build. Still working on transferring other drives to new system. Will attempt to get Windows 10 on the system (Don't know about License issues - trying not to buy another license).

What else can be said for these Ryzen chips? Price v performance is excellent. The stock cooler was a little loud for me. You might want to think about getting an aftermarket cooler, depending on how close you are to your case.

This CPU is the best budget CPU, the performance is just incredible. The fan that comes with the CPU, cools the CPU just fine, but if you're going to overclock i recommend getting another air-cooler or even an all-in-one liquid cooler.

Final made the switch to AMD and not regretting it.This CPU is amazing, it is within 90% of the gaming performance as Intel for half the price and blows the I5-9600k out of the water for video encoding.

Used this CPU on my new Asus ROG build. Plenty of power and speed. Only draw back is factory fan is nice but very large, could interfere with other components like memory.
