The biggest thing about this particular processor is the 65W TDP (105W TDP overclocked) power consumption, akin to the power consumption of the Intel 3rd Gen Core i7 3770K that was replaced from circa 2012.

Superior Upgrade to Older CPUs

In Cinebench, i got 4311 on my i9, with this AMD 9700x, my cinebench doubled in performance to 8933. An incredible uptick. Performance in games is massive too.

This is paired with 7800xt and is great for 1440p gaming on ultra. It only uses 65w max (TDP) on stock settings so it stays cool and performs very well. Yes the X3D CPUs are superior but this one holds it's own for 1440p gaming.

Doesn’t run hot and I’ve noticed significant improvements from my old cpu. But I was running a 3700x before
