The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has been an outstanding addition to my system. Performance is excellent across gaming and multitasking — games feel smoother and more responsive thanks to the 3D V-Cache, and CPU-intensive tasks (streaming, editing, compiling) breeze through without lag. Boost clocks are very consistent under load, and the AM5 platform feels future-proof with plenty of upgrade paths. Installation was straightforward on my AM5 motherboard and the processor runs cool and quiet with a good cooler. Overall, this feels like a premium CPU choice if you want top performance without going into the highest tier, and I’m very happy with the improvement over my previous setup.

Do not second-guess purchasing a 9800X3D. The best gaming CPU on the market. Pair with DDR5 6000MHz C30 RAM, a decent (not over priced B850 motherboard), at least a 5070ti, and no lower than 2k monitor.

Comimg from a 13900k this thing is fast! And runs really cool. I am running all my games at 4k with no issue. Works wonderfully with my 4090. I was worried at first i have always used intel. But very happy with my first AMD purchase.

Purchased this to upgrade from an AM 4 5900 since the mother board that I had was reaching time to upgrade. Purchased this with an X870 TUF motherboard. Great improvements with games and I am looking forward to some video decoding and encoding now that it has the ability to do that onboard, for what I know at least. I am happy with this upgrade.

    Best gaming CPU ever

This is the most powerful CPU for gaming ever made. It beats all other CPUs in gaming benchmarks. It runs cooler and uses less power than high end Intel CPUs and for around $450 its just a no-brainer. You dont need a super expensive power supply or CPU cooler. Get the 7800x3d if you want to spend a little less. The only downside is the current price of DDR5 RAM which this CPU requires. That being said this is, in every aspect, the best gaming CPU ever.

This processor is amazing. I dropped it into an Asrock 850M board and did the latest BIOS update without booting the system. I also picked up a Thermalright bracket to hold it in flush with the install. Running it with a Thermalright 360mm cooler. Its been working great since day one without issue. I have some 14th gen an Intel Core systems. This beats them in gaming by a decent margin, especially at the lower temps and TDP. Highly recommend.

Not a huge difference over the 7800X3D, but runs a bit cooler for equal or better performance. Am glad I got one while I could though.

Just swapped my 7800X3D for the 9800X3D and the gains are ridiculous. 15-25 % more fps in CPU-heavy titles (CS2, Starfield, Flight Simulator) and still runs ice-cold at 62 °C gaming with a 240 mm AIO. The extra cache + higher clocks make it feel like cheating in 1080p/1440p competitive. Power draw is only ~88 W under full load – insane efficiency. PBO + Curve Optimizer took it to 5.45 GHz all-core without issues. Zero thermal throttling, instant EXPO 6000 MT/s CL30 stability. If you play simulation games or esports, this is literally the best gaming CPU on the planet right now. AMD outdid themselves again.

    AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - A Gamers Dream CPU

As someone who's been building PCs since the early 2000s (remember when we thought 2 GHz was fast?), I've seen my fair share of CPUs come and go. But the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D? It's like finding the One Ring in Middle-earth, but this time, it's for making games run smoother than Gandalf's wizard beard. Design and Build: The 9800X3D looks like any other modern CPU - if you've seen one, you've seen them all. But don't let its humble appearance fool you; it's like Clark Kent in disguise. Installation was as simple as ever, but remember, BIOS updates are sometimes the real adventure, akin to updating your BIOS in the stone age of floppy disks. Performance: Gaming: Holy frame rates, Batman! This CPU is the Robin to my gaming setup, boosting my gameplay to new heights. "Baldur's Gate 3" now runs so smoothly, I half expect to see a "You Are Winner!" screen. It's like going from dial-up to fiber optics for your in-game experience. Multi-tasking: With 8 cores and 16 threads, it's like having an army of little helpers, each one ready to tackle a task. Streaming while gaming? No sweat. It's multitasking like a pro, even if your pro job is just playing games. Temperature and Efficiency: Unlike some CPUs that turn your PC into a dragon's cave, this one keeps cool under pressure. It's like having your own personal Frostmourne, but instead of souls, it's cooling down your system. Overclocking: I haven't dared to push this baby beyond its limits because, out of the box, it's already like having the Millennium Falcon at your fingertips. But for those adventurous enough, the overclocking potential is there, waiting for you to live long and prosper with your gaming benchmarks. Compatibility and Future Proofing: The AM5 socket is like a promise from AMD that you won't have to rebuild your PC from scratch in the next few years. It's a commitment to the future, much like my commitment to never give up on finding the perfect component match. Cons: Price: It's not cheap, but then again, neither are the good things in life. Like collecting all the Infinity Stones, it's a costly endeavor. Good luck getting your paws on either. Non-Gaming Workloads: If you're not primarily a gamer, this CPU might be like bringing a lightsaber to a knife fight - overkill for some tasks. Conclusion: The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the CPU I didn't know I needed until I had it. For gamers, it's like finding Excalibur in the stone - if Excalibur was made for rendering high frame rates. If you've been piecing together PCs since the days of floppy disks, this is one upgrade that won't make you feel like you're stuck in the Matrix. Rating: 9.5/10

I recently upgraded to the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor, and the performance boost has been phenomenal! My FPS in World of Warcraft shot up by 100 while raiding, transforming my gaming experience. This processor handles everything with ease, from gaming to multitasking, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in system responsiveness. The 8-core setup ensures smooth performance even under heavy load, and it’s perfect for any gaming enthusiast or power user. If you’re looking to take your gaming to the next level, the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a fantastic choice. The upgrade has been totally worth it for the incredible performance gains.

    Absolute Beast of a Processor

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is everything I hoped it would be. I upgraded from a 7800X3D and the jump is noticeable in both gaming and overall responsiveness. It runs cool, quiet, and delivers incredible frame rates even in demanding titles. Paired with my RTX 5080, it’s a perfect match for 1440p and ultrawide gaming. Installation was simple, and temps stay low even under load. AMD’s 3D V-Cache really shines here, giving consistent performance across the board. The efficiency is just as impressive as the power, and I barely hear my fans kick up anymore. If you want top-tier gaming performance with amazing thermals and smooth multitasking, the 9800X3D is an easy recommendation. AMD nailed it again with this one.

I was running a 4070 super with my i9-9900K and could tell my cpu was bottlenecking my gpu because my 1% lows were always dipping and causing stutters at those high frame rates @1440p resolution. Ever since upgrading to the 9800X3D, everything has been smooth and snappy. In-Game Benchmark: Black Ops 6 1440p Fidelityfx Competitive Graphics Settings; i9-9900K+4070 Super @167 AVG.
