    Amazing Gaming/Video Editing Processor

Son's review: Upgrading from an i7-7700 4 core 8 thread chip, this was HUGE. 12 fast cores is perfect for video editing, multitasking, and future proof for gaming as games transition more to DX12. My specific unit was a Silver rated processor, so not much overclocking headroom. With PBO enabled, I generally average 4.1-4.2Ghz all cores, 4.25-4.3Ghz in modern heavy AAA games, and one or two cores boost up to 4.7-4.8Ghz in light tasks. The processor runs pretty hot, about 40 degrees idle, high 70s to low 80s during all core loads, and mid 60s during gaming (with a 360mm top mounted AIO push config) AMD Ryzen setup is a bit more complicated than Intel, you need chipset drivers and there are a lot of complicated motherboard settings, so there was definitely a learning curve.

Bought this as an upgrade from an ryzen 7 2700x with the aim of creating a well rounded high end PC. On stock settings, it is able to render a 3 hour long clip on 4k settings well under 2 hours. Paired with an NHD15 dual tower heatsink, it doesn't even break past 60C on load. Currently being paired with an rtx 2060, it demolished all games I've thrown at it going past 60fps on 1080p, 1440p and 4k. I'm confident it'll perform extremely well once I upgrade my GPU soon. If you're torn between waiting for the upcoming zen 3 5900x, and buying this -- don't worry, the performance difference in my opinion is not that noticeable, and if you can buy this at a more reasonable price, then I would personally go ahead and do so if I were you. Buying this for gaming purposes should be more than adequate for all current gen titles. Buying this as a productivity component, should also be a great choice for a moderately priced 12 core CPU, otherwise you'd be spending that extra $300 for a 16-core 3950x/xt or 5950x if you must have top dollar performance.

This CPU crushes it I haven’t even bothered with overclocking yet I have it running on an ASUS X570 gaming E and a NZXT x63 kraken liquid cooling and it’ll hold 4.2 ghz all cores with a full load at about 160 degrees Fahrenheit

I installed this on a MSi MAG X570 mother board with G.Skill 32GB 3600 Ram. I haven't had the chance to sit down and overclock this CPU yet, but it is FAST! My home build is insane fast, perfect for gaming, rendering and regular home use.

great cpu, best buy price matched microcenter so I got it at a very good price. I probably could have waited a couple more months to join the rat race for the 5k line, but I am very satisfied with this cpu's performance. I was an intel fanboy for a very long time, not anymore.

This is a great buy if you have applications that can leverage all of the cores/threads. I was expecting it to run really hot, but temps during 100% load (un-overclocked) is only at 76 C with a corsair 280mm AIO cooler.

You will not be disappointed.. This CPU is on the top.. It is so fast, you will never ever be able to tell a speed difference on an upgrade.. I cannot believe that there will ever be a need to upgrade from this CPU.. with a 360 AIO this sits at 37C..

What an absolute UNIT of a CPU 12 cores 24 threads, 4.7 GHz, pcie gen 4 support, LOVE it, went from an R5 2600 to this and I couldn't be happier, I play a lot of VR and I went from taking breaks every few seconds due to motion sickness, to playing for hours with no issues.

I've been an AMD fanboy from 2000. I've had all their major processor family since then. The 3rd gen Ryzen is by far the fastest. I had an 1800X and this beat it in every way. The IPC gains they have made in just three years is amazing. Intel needs to caught up!!!!!
