Amped Wireless ACA1 USB3.0 WLAN adapter quick review 1. Intro 2. Setup 3. Performance Intro: The Amped Wireless ACA1 is the company's latest USB WLAN adapter. It has 500mW of output power and it uses a USB 3.0 port for maximum throughput while other USB adapters use 2.0 which means your computer is not going to see the actual throughput due to the speed limitation on the standard. Setup: Very easy. It was easy to pop in the install disc, install the driver software, it installed very quickly, and after that I connected the ACA1 and it worked perfect on even a server OS, Windows Server 2012! I am also glad it doesn't force you to use bloatware like other companies do. I hate the bloatware others make you have. Also it does not take up a lot of disk space... just a handful of Mbytes. Please note: The router used is the Amped RTA15 Performance: The performance has been excellent, even though the signal is going thru a chimney, a hardwood dresser, two walls and a very fat cat. The average signal strength is around -48dBm. This is currently installed on a desktop system that can't have a cable run to it and powerline adapters aren't fast enough for what he does on it. Gaming and streaming and transferring files are all fast and have no issues or disconnects at all. Very impressed. Average speeds: Please note: these are the test results performed by LAN Speed Test software. These are true measurements of the actual throughput. Average rating in mbps for transfer rates in AC mode is around 176-233Mbits/sec. Peaks at 544Mbits/sec The wireless N mode hits around 96Mbits/sec. Peaks at 233Mbits/sec Transfer rates (Mbytes/sec): Wireless N I have around 12Mbytes/sec thru 32ft/2 walls/1 brick chimney/1 hardwood dresser Wireless AC I have 22Mbytes/sec thru the same as above. I did have it peak up as high as 35-40Mbytes/sec quite often as well!! With powerline I had about 8Mbytes/sec transfer rates.

The most useless wireless adapter, stay away!

I was honestly very disappointed with this adapter. My review is similar to others who have given this product a 1 star. Works well for the first 2 months, then afterwards the signal keeps disconnecting very frustrating when you are gaming. For a $100 product it does not even have the basic functionality of a $50 netgear/belkin wireless adapters. Stay away from this brand, Linksys, netgear, belkin are all much more reliable products with far greater customer support. Over all: although it looks fancy and high tech, its really cheaply made, the over all quality/feel of the product is poor. I never write reviews, but when i do its because it DC multiple times while i was playing LOL. The End: please stay away from buying anything this brand had to offer, high price cheap quality and no customer support.

    Great Adapter for WiFi

After getting the WiFi adapter we couldn't find a good place to put it but finally found a place to tape it under the table. The software loaded easy and the adapter worked the first time. I went from 26 meg per second to 76 meg per second. It is a good thing that we had a USB 3.0 for it. Otherwise it wouldn't have done us so well. My wife says it is fast, fast, fast. That is why I bought it. It goes with the new router with the new AC standard. It was worth the money and time to get it going.

Worked for about 45 days- yep now dead

Purchased end of Nov 2013 online, pickup at store on 12/7 = yeah!! This was for a Christmas present for my son. He open gift on Christmas - we got it working fine quickly , did the job well for about 45 days and I was reasonably impressed. Until yesterday , my son comes downstairs and says the internet is down- so I check and the internet is fine. So, after checking on "this and that" we figure it out= we have a $100 useless product - tried reloading software, downloading, etc. it wont work and have tried on several PC's and a laptop. So now , because it is past the 45 days return pick-up date, we get to deal with the manufacturer (Amped wireless) and try to get warranty replacement on it = well see- either way he is unable to use the wireless network for who knows how long before this is resolved . Soo.. my advice is to stay away from this unreliable product.

      Hello,
We apologize if the unit is not working properly. If your router's speed is high, the range extender will carry that speed over a greater distance without much loss. However as with any Wi-Fi product, the further out the signal travels the slower the speed will be. Range extenders do not have the ability to receive the signal from the router, and transmit the information to your devices at the same time. Because of this, you may experience some slower speeds. If you are experiencing speed issues that you feel are more extreme than what we have described it could be a number of issue including the channel you are transmitting in or a bad radio function. Please call our tech support line at 888-573-8820 so that we can troubleshoot the unit and resolve the issue.
