Loved this movie of how one woman wanted to be loved, great acting and musicals as well.

Disc was great, quality terrific, though I still can't understand what the heck an "Ultraviolet Digital Copy" means. Why would I want a copy in any format of the DVD I already purchased? Oh well, maybe I'm just too old for this. Yes, all the above was fine; I just didn't care for the movie. Great cast, but so-so otherwise. That's why I gave it four stars.

I bought this movie based on my wife's interest in Pride & Prejudice, as this was advertised to be similar. It was only slightly similar. The period was the same, the story had some slight similarities, the acting was great. The shooting style was strange, different, sometimes bizarre, and almost always distracting from the story. I am sure some people will praise the genius of the cinematographer and director, but my wife and I just kept saying "Huh?". I would have fully enjoyed the movie if it was filmed in a traditional fashion. In the end, it is worth watching once, it's not a movie I would ever want to see twice.

I was walking through our neighborhood Best Buy looking for another type of DVD but saw this and thought of my daughter who loves movies from another era. This was a semi-historical movie whose characters were interesting and held our attention. It was an inexpensive movie that was well worth it's low price.

Keira Knightly plays Anna Karenina in this flick and does it creditably but not superbly. While she is a fine actress the role, in my opinion, required someone with more emotion for the role in keeping with the magnificent novel. It is still a fine movie but slightly flawed.

A film that doesn't so much bring the book to life but imagines the story as if it was being staged for the staged, which works since the film is a staging of the novel. Though the meta aspects of the filmmaking eventually becomes seamless, and the spirit of the book shines.

It's always great to see a movie come on the market that is based on a classic of world literature (in this case, Tolstoy's Anna Karenina). The set design and costumes are terrific. The movie is an example of a very good period piece.

Movie based on a classic book of the same title. You will find it interesting especially if you desire a glimpse into what Pre-Communism Russia looked like, when it still had royalty and noblemen / women.

I love the 1948 version with Vivien Leigh and this is a pretty good take on the same film. I absolutely loved the costumes and sets. I like how it makes me feel like I'm watching a play & not a movie

Joe Wright does a truly daring feat as he presents this film as predominantly a stage play. I imagine he wanted to accentuate the restrictions and unreality imposed on human emotions and choices by strict societal code and conventions. Anna Karenina is about a woman who broke its bonds for love and paid with a deep price. Kiera Knightly is as beautiful as the production if a little affected to break our hearts as she should. The cast, especially Jude Law as the cuckhold husband, is superb.

Remaking a wonderful movie with new star cast works sometimes but not always. The film doesn't do justice to the themes of tragedy and is too flashy for that. I liked the older version better.

Of course, this movie is based on the classic novel. Some say it was the best novel ever written. I do not know, as I have not read the novel. However, this movie was difficult to follow. My wife gave up about half way through and left me to watch it alone. In the end, the story itself was good and Keira Knighly gave a wonderful performance. I think reading about the novel before watching it would have helped.

While it's not the best movie Joe Wright has ever done, it's definitely still worth checking out. Keira Knightley is amazing, and it's beautiful to look at.

This movie is for those romantic couples who looked for a movie night in on date night. Its very good and emotional. I thought it was great. Recommend it.

The era was interesting to watch, how turning your back on certain actions was ok. As long as you were discreet. Class, men & women so not equal.

I really believe Keira Knightley was meant for period dramas. Her performance is incredible. Definitely a must see if you enjoy period dramas.

This movie is based on a Russian novel. It is a historical romance type movie. I'm a big Keira Knightley fan, and as such, enjoyed the movie.

This is a beautiful looking film. An age old story that is told well, and the DVD features some interesting extras. Worth checking out.

This adaptation of the classic Tolstoy novel is well worth watching!! The costumes and sets alone make this video extraordinary.
