Apple always improves on the technical ! Faster chip set, faster wireless, blue tooth 4 and retina display eye popping graphics! They could have added a lot of so so junk but instead they made an already great tablet better! I own all of the Tablets apple has made and technology move at the speed of light but when it comes down to it don't you just want your tablet to work ? and work well! This is even better then that! The future,we have arrived...

I was a little apprehensive buying an ipad mainly because the prices tended to scare me off but I finally caved and bought one, and couldn't be more happy with it. I use the thing everyday, from things like Netflix to reading a book, or just doing some online shopping. It's a great device. Fast with a decent battery life and its light weight. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a simple yet powerful upgrade.

Picked this up during their clearance sale. Only one generation old, but plenty fast for the average user, and 64GB is more than enough space for me for my music, videos, apps, etc. Screen is amazing! Once you go Retina, you never go back!

I've had the 2 for 2 years and I loved it, when I found out that Best Buy was heavily discounting the 3 I jumped on the opportunity to upgrade for peanuts since in the process I traded my 2.
This is so much faster and the retina display is impressive.
This is certainly a "best buy" tablet.

If you don't need the top of the line performance, this is a fine choice. I had a 2nd gen and it died so I purchased this one mere days before the announcement of the 4th gen iPad. When my son needed to replace his, I just gave him the one I'm reviewing and bought the 4th gen. No comparison. While the 3 was a nice incremental improvement over the 2, save for the retina display which is vastly superior, the 4 is a huge performance improvement. So, if you're prime concern is price and you don't need blinding processor speed and better wifi, stick with the 3.

We were looking for a tablet and my son had a ipad 2nd generation 32 gig and brings it over quite a bit. My wife loved the ipàd but he paid about $700.00 for it when they first came out. We looked at different tablets on the Internet and electronic shops. We were going to spend about $400.00 for an android 32 gig and the sales person at Best Buy pulled out a 3rd generation 64 gig with retina display with Wi-Fi and AT&T cellular for less than a hundred more. It was to hard not to take the deal. We are glad we did. We love and use it every day. I'm writing this review on it.

Safari closes suddenly, unexpected; very hard to put the 3g card; the buttons (volume, etc) are all in plastic; loses wifi connection unexpectedly; nem Maps is terrible. I was expecting more...

I had the 1st iPad which was really nice but this one really tops it. I cannot believe how great all my HD shows and movies are. It has been a "great escape" for me.

I'm Converted and a Believer

I did a lot of research leading up to purchasing the (new) iPad. I am a traveling consultant that was anti-Apple (since I had my Apple II, back in the day). I created a list of requirements that I would need in a tablet:
- Handwriting recognition (for client note taking / white boarding)
- Email, calendar, contact synchronization across my business and personal accounts
- Use of Microsoft OneNote for consolidated note / project documentation
- Reduce the need of a laptop for short business trips
- Very good battery life
- To do lists to synchronize with my wife (honey-do lists)
All these were answered by the iPad. Working in concert with my new iPhone 4s and my wife's iPhone 4s, all my requirements were answered. A few items that I've noticed are complaints by others:
- It runs hot. I honestly have not noticed this and found it to run cooler on my lap than my laptop. This includes running many apps at once (including multi-media)
- Reduced battery life. I've used the iPad pretty consistently throughout the day with 75 - 80% brightness and haven't dropped below 30% battery.
The only issues I've encountered is the steep learning curve to synchronize multiple email accounts, contacts, and calendars and app costs. This former isn't so much a knock on the iPad or the iCloud, but just the reality of the Internet and companies moving towards a true cloud solution. After a lot of fiddling and tinkering, I've achieved 90% synchronization. The other thing to consider is the cost of applications. I felt I wouldn't need many, but have spent about $100 in apps thus far. Keep in mind that there will be additional costs.
A few final words of advice:
- The Smart Cover isn't my favorite (the magnets don't hold very tough); I've since replaced it with the Brookstone / Keyboard iPad case (love it)
- Do NOT waste your money on any other stylus than the Adonit Jot Pro. It is very precise and works very well with Penultimate (my choice for note taking).
- Get a screen cloth; the screen smudges constantly.
I recommend this product for new entrants into the tablet market or owners of the original iPad. iPad 2 owners; I'd recommend waiting for the iPad4 (or the new new iPad)...

This is my first Ipad. It has been great so far. Was having a small issue with the wi-fi at home dropping, but turns out it was my modems settings. This Ipad is very fast and well worth the price paid.

Guess they were clearing their stock of 3rd gens and they dropped the price low enough for me to take a chance. I had wanted an ipad for some time and I'm glad I broke down and got one. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I think the deal offered by Best buy for this 3rd Gen ipad was one of the best. I tried searching similar deals with other retailers and couldnt find any. What's great about 3rd gen is you get all features like the 4th gen except for some less processor speed (0.25 Ghz) (5 instead of 5x) which is negligible and no lightining adaptor for charging, which I dont think is that important.
Recommended to 2 of my friends who ended up buying with me. :)
