"What if" is the enemy of progress

I purchased this computer after working on a 15" i7 500Gb Macbook Pro from 2010. The computer is nimble and quick for navigating internet, spotify, office-products, school etc.. Lets face it, despite what you think you might do in the next 5 years, like become the next Stephen Spielberg - You likely won't. You don't use displays, you can get a Magic Mouse, you don't game 24/7, you don't edit your grammy-award-winning videos.....you don't need all those ports. As a medical student, I must be flexible and quick to access information. This computer is just want I want, and while I sometimes ask myself if I am sacrificing functionality to have this beautiful little machine that is brand new... the reality is that everyone wants to backslide on innovation. In 3 years your concerns will be "old-fashioned". This computer is in its infancy regardings its eco-system. Your concerns will be matched in 6 months time of accessories... Go for it.

I bought this laptop before my first semester of law school in August 2015. I waited to write a review to ensure I loved the product enough to recommend it. I LOVE this laptop. It's fast, conveniently sized, and the charge/usage before charge time is incredible. I can use it basically all day, two days in a row before I have to charge it. It never gets bogged down and I do A LOT of legal research on a variety of platforms. Also, the display is impeccable. I would recommend this product to ANYONE and EVERYONE!

I've been using this laptop for more than a month now and have to say I'm so glad I picked it. The size and weight are ideal for taking it with me whenever and wherever. I was hesitant to go with a smaller laptop but really don't miss the larger display I had prior to this purchase. It has all the speed and memory of the bigger ones in a size that fits in my purse.

The new Mac Book 12" inch a really nice laptop, so thin and yet som much features, it is very fast and the retina display is great, very easy to travel around with. One minus though as it is so slim there are only 1 port, the new USB-C standard which is used for charging, one need an adaptor to be able to use normal USB devices on this Mac, I saw a USB from Sandisk with a dual interface on it so might purchase such a USB memory later on Overall very happy with this Mac

    MacBook 12" Gold

At first glance the MacBook seems small and fragile; however, it is perhaps one of my best purchases I wish they would've had it in rose gold when I purchased it but besides that it is lightweight, I'm not sure if all MacBooks can do this but this one receives calls and text messages from any carrier and you can also accept video calls, pretty sweet. It charges super fast. The colors are vibrant and the screen is perfect. It is very thin, thinner than the air and that works totally fine. Weighs less than a pound I believe and don't feel it's weight when I carry it around campus. Not to mention how many compliments I've gotten because of the gold color. It's all around perfect for me.

I would agree with the other reviewers who note that while the new MacBook doesn't have the most power under the hood, it certainly suffices for a vast majority of the users out there. OK, if you're a serious gamer or a video/photo editor this isn't for you. Super light, gorgeous aluminum clam shell construction, Retina display, and SILENT ! (BTW - have you heard a MacBook Pro when its fan starts whirling ?!?!!). Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And don't get hung up on the USB-C issue: get one of those VGA adapter things, and you'll get power, USB and the VGA adapter in a single plug in. The screen aspect works perfectly with most office digital projectors. HIGHLY recommend!

I actually took back a MacBook Pro that I got for $350 off retail after seeing this thing of beauty! Unless you are doing heavy video editing, or anything else that is processor/GPU intensive, you can get away with an M Intel processor. Silent. Super light. Beautiful to look at. Keyboard is lightning quick once you get used to it. The force touchpad is great. Strongly recommend. Great price point too!

Very portable! Absolutely thin. The down side is that its pricey and there is not port for USB. You have to buy a separate plug in for that. Other than that it is a great laptop.

I have become a fan of apple after starting using iphone 2 years back. This is my first macbook and i do not regret switching from windows. Initially felt hard to use and install stuff, but once i started to get to know, it became fairly easy. Now i find hard to use windows on my office laptop. Great speed, easy initial setup, light, beautiful screen, seamless screenshare with apple tv, great battery life, crisp sound, intuitive user interface. Just go for it!!!

I was blown away by how powerful, thin and light it is. It can easily handle editing all of my 4K drone footage using Imovie and less demanding tasks are obviously a breeze for this laptop. Battery life is excellent as well. The only slight downside I could find is that it only has a single USB-C port so you need to purchase an adapter if you plan of using peripherals. Its a small price to pay when getting a computer that it as thin and portable as this one.

I love my macbook. It's so lightweight and it's perfect for what I need. To lug around and surf the internet and hand in my assignments from wherever I am located that day. The ease on how to use it and how quick the transitions are from program to the internet. Lurve it! Oh and I love that I can text from it as well. I never had a macbook so this is my first one and I will never go back. I love that it all works together with the rest of my apple products.

I had a Macbook Pro Retina and then decided I wanted back to Windows, so I tried quite a few different things like the Lenovo Yoga, Surface and Surface Pro, Dell XPS 13, and more. I wanted back to OSX mainly because of how rock solid it worked for me. So I decided I wanted something small and light and went with the MacBook. I cannot understate how gorgeous of a laptop this is. It hit all the right notes for me: 8GB RAM, 256SSD, high-resolution IPS display, good sized keyboard with a great trackpad, great build quality and good battery life. I also really liked the Space Grey color. I knew the Intel Core M processor was not super powerful, but I decided to try it out anyway. Well, after a month with it, I have decided to trade it in for another Macbook Pro, I just really need the extra power this laptop has under the hood. The Core M just didn't cut it for graphics work, just zooming in and out of some layouts was very slow and choppy. It also lagged a bit under certain browsers and some online videos. The only other real drawback was the keyboard. While I think Apple did a commendable job at making a nice thin full-size keyboard, It just did not have the cushy reliable feel the Macbook Pro does. In the end, I really needed a more robust processor to deal with my needs. Had the Macbook had a true Intel Core i5, heck even a Core i3, I think this little beauty could have been the one.

I needed a small and light system for work. The iPad was barely adequate, but lack of specific apps and multitasking substantially reduced usefulness. The iPad Pro and MS Surface Pro were better. iPad Pro was too big to carry and still used apps. Surface Pro was OK but on-screen typing was difficult. I purchased an open box Macbook and am very impressed. Full access to web-based programs. Multitasking. Great screen. Nice keyboard. All in a compact, often one-handed size. It's not super fast, but fast enough for non-intense photo work.

When I first started college, I had a bulky and slow Macbook Pro 13 inch from 2012 that barely was able to keep up with my school work and was a pain to carry around all day between class and work. With this new Macbook, it is incredibly fast, features amazing quality, and is so light that it feels like just another notebook in my bag. I would highly recommend to anyone who is attending university or likes to travel (like me--seriously, this laptop is the best thing ever when I am on my international flights).

I bought this for my wife to replace a 2011 11" MacBook Air that our daughter has taken control of. Best Buy had an unbeatable price. The MacBook feels about the same as the 11" Air in terms of size and weight, but the screen is a huge upgrade. I'm a bit worried about having to pay for adapters for USB-C ($80 for the Apple HDMI adapter seems a bit high), but so far we're happy with the laptop.

This laptop is great for a simple business laptop where the size is convenient on an Airplane and light weight. The battery dies a little quicker then I am used to. Having had a 2013 15" macbook pro Retina display that laptop seemed to last all day. This laptop seems to average about 5-6 hours for me. I went with this instead of the air because of the retina display. ever since it came on the iPhone i have not been able to switch back to the non-retina display screens. I really only use the laptop to work on word, excel, e-mail, quicken, work related. It is a little tricky working with only 1 data port. I have had to spend extra money on add on attachments and converters. Several I have purchased claimed on amazon claimed to be power and data but could not reliably handle data so i ended up spending extra for the usb-c to usb-b and the usb-c to HDMI, USB.

This computer works pretty fast for having a smaller processor. It has good screen clarity and the best part is that it is very light. It is perfect for around the house use or using for school. One reason is the Battery life is no joke. I can stream on it for hours at a time and not worry about having to have it plugged in.

I love that it's pretty light and not too big. The Retina display is great. Only thing I don't really like is that there's only one charging port, so you'll have to buy an adapter to attach multiple usb cords
