Windows 10 User Turned Mac

I've used PC's my whole life, and this specific computer is what fully turned me to "the dark side" aka Apple. I've always scoffed at how Manholes can be upity and smug about their computer choice, but I can understand how someone can fall in love with the designs this brand produces and protect it.
I've been using a Windows 10 Asus computer for a while now, and it brought me to the frustration point that something had to change. I'm a software engineer whose side job is writing novels. I did a ton of research with the goals of ultra portability and good battery life, and figured I'd give this computer a shot with the stipulation I could just return it if I didn't like it. Spoiler alert, I love it and didn't return it, here's why after one month of 2-4 hour per day use.
1. Force Touch Pad - Carrying around a mouse sucks, the force touch pad makes it just as easy if not easier to navigate.
2. Keyboard Design - It took a few hours to get used to the short stroke keys, but now that I'm used to it I'll never go back.
3. The 12" screen is perfect. I was concerned it would be too small as I wanted to dabble in App development, but by accessing the display settings and selecting the "more space" setting I can get full use out of Xcode without any compromises. Any bigger and I'd lose portability.
4. Performance - I haven't had any noticeable slow downs with the 8GB memory and Adobe InDesign loads and runs much faster on this than my ASUS running Windows 10.
5. 5 GHz Wifi Compatibility - Living in an apartment building I HAVE to use 5Ghz WiFi. The Wifi Card on the Asus I purchased 2 years ago only supported 2.4 GHz. The difference for me is about 20 GB/s DL speed on a good day using 2.4GHz compared to 170 GB/s DL speed on the 5 GHz channel so it's night and day.
There are many more Pro's and not too many Con's. Some people complain about the 1 USB-C input/output, but Apple wouldn't have been able to design such a slim/light/portable computer without it. I invested the $70 in the VGA/USB adapter and it is fine. If I wanted more, I'd buy a Desktop. This computer is the Cat's pajamas, I don't know why there were so many bad reviews all over the internets, it's really an engineering marvel and a great portable computer.

This was a new purchase for my girlfriend and she couldn't be happier! She really wanted another Mac to replace her old one(about 10 years old) and after going through all the other models and figuring out exactly what she wanted it was an easy pick. She was very excited to have a faster running computer that could handle the work load she had(not a whole lot just multiple apps open at the same time) and was so lightweight for her to take back and forth to work and move around at work easily. The Gold coloring, updated keyboard layout and size, and touch pad updates were a real selling point for her.

The large keys make it easier to type. Everything loaded very easy through iCloud and transferred from my last Mac. It's amazingly light so if you haven't held, do so. The battery lasts so long I can watch 8 hours of Netflix without charging it. Other than that it normally lasts about 12 hours. And it always charges from 0% to 100% in 3 hours.

I bought this MacBook to take with while traveling on business trips. It is the perfect size for traveling and amazingly light. It worked perfectly for a light to medium duty laptop. While it isn't an incredible speed demon, I was impressed at how well it handled everything I needed it to do.
And of course, nothing integrates as well a MacBook with my iPhone!
After testing this laptop on my trip, I bought another one for my daughter for school. Highly recommended!

At first I thought the laptop was too small, but it's actually the perfect size and weighs hardly anything. Only con is that purchasing adapters are a must. The MacBook only comes with one usb-c port.

With apple going towards the "all wireless" approach, you might find it challenging to jump into this Macbook, specially if you have a lot of usb gadgets and gizmos.
this macbook is aimed, in my opinion, to somebody who works mostly "on the cloud". Is light, silent and very very fast.
got this one for the wife to replace a laptop that couldnt handle the Win 10 upgrade. So far she loves it.

The battery seems for me at least to last about 11 hours.. used on normal office or programming type of use. Although the screen is small in size, the resolution is actually bigger than my desktop. The small size isn't that bad you get used to it. Since this is basically the new Air it is just an thin and lite as the others, or even more so. Definitely would also be great for trips or on the airplane where a large, heavy laptop would be cumbersome.

I chose this MacBook because I wanted a computer I could easily take with me to work on articles and books while on travel. I did not need very high performance gaming or video capabilities. The Retina display more than makes up for screen size. Keyboard is very easy to write with. I am very satisfied with my choice.

This is a really great computer for Mac users on the go or for those that want a small laptop and don't do a lot with multimedia. Battery life is also very good in this model and the display is among the best Apple Retina displays out. Strong, lightweight, stylish and functional, the 12" MacBook offers the lofty standard Apple quality in a smaller and slightly more affordable package. For those that are looking to do a lot of video editing, music creation, photo editing or just like to hook up peripherals (cell phones, wired printers, cameras etc.), you may want to look into a 13" or even 15" MacBook Pro Retina. With the 12" MacBook you only get a headphone jack and the new "do-it-all" USB-C connection. No standard USB or SD memory card slot. If the hardware and size fit your needs, you won't find a better computer out there!

The Mac book is easy to use and was a breeze to set up. It is very lightweight. In fact it is as light as my IPAD without a case on it. The display is fantastic making movie watching a quality experience. The track pad is easy to use and using multiple fingers you can right click and open/close various windows.

I knew that this computer would not be my workhorse. I have a 15" MacBook Pro with 16GB memory for my heavy work. I bought this computer for its light weight and easy portability. It's that and so much more. I use it at home just as much as out, even with the software that I have on my more powerful Mac. It leaves the clunky Microsoft Surface in the dust.

First of all, I was amazed by weight of the MacBook - it is very-very light and thin, probably lighter and thinner than the first couple generations of the iPAD. The only inconvenience it causes is that you might need to use your second hand to open the cover. Having the SSD on board, I would expect that the CPU would be the bottleneck for the performance - not the case so far, as the Intel Core M processor seems to be pretty good, at least for my needs. The keyboard (with some firm response of the buttons) is surprisingly a good fit and you get used to it almost immediately. The sound of the speakers is pretty loud and clean for their size. As the only port the MacBook has is the USB type-C and it is being used by default by the charger, I ended up with buying the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter-white/6604198.p?id=1219664861694&skuId=6604198 and I'm considering buying the http://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-superdrive-8x-external-usb-double-layer-dvdrw-cd-rw-drive-silver/5856129.p?id=1218697289746&skuId=5856129 to be all set with the external connections. Overall, I strongly recommend the MacBook, especially when it is on sale, as how I got it purchased.

Love everything about this laptop except for the fact that it has no USB port. You can purchase a cable for that separately but it's just a little inconvenient. All in all, it's quick, lightweight, great display, and pretty loud.

I bought this laptop to upgrade my Macbook Air, that was only 128GB and was filling up, the air was a great computer, but the extra storage, retina display and increased memory made it more useful for me, and i would assume for most. It has plenty of power for most tasks, and multi-tasks very well. Battery life is great, I get well over 8 hours of use, and it will stand by for days. The core M is probably not best for heavy tasks, but it runs everything a typical home user will need with out missing a beat.
