Purchased - September 16th 2017 Stopped working - October 27th 2017

Fast ssd but really slow processor slower than some phones

I purchased my first mac book in August and 40 days exactly the entire book shut down, blank screen, and got hotter to the touch for next 4 hours until I was able to take back to bestuy. The manager couldn't even beliebve how hot to the touch my computer was and immediately without question exchanged it for new one on the spot. It was also 31 days out of their warranty. everyone who was helping said they had never seen this before with a Mac. It was so hot they could barely even handle the computer. That was 10/11/16 and today, 12/12/16, it has done it again with the replacement. Not satisfied AT ALL! I strongly ware against purchasing if you need a reliable machine. Thank goodness I purchased apple care or this would make this situation much worse.

Very poor service. Item was missing charger and had to make another trip to be given a substitute which is not close in size to original. Very sloppy. Mac is fine. Experience not so good.

Love the size and form factor of this laptop. It lasted us until 2024 and we had to retire it.

I wanted to like this computer, but the processor in this one is not enough.

I got this instead of a new iPad. Very light at 2 pounds with a beautiful Retina display. Nice to have a real keyboard and be able to multitask. I love the High Sierra OS better than iOS. The 512GB SSD hard drive is very fast and the wireless speed rocks. The CPU is fast enough for everyday tasks. Not really a gaming machine or for heavy duty Video processing. It charges reasonably fast, too. Having only one USB-C port is not an issue if you get a good all-purpose "charge through" dongle like the ChargJenPro. The trackpad is good for screen manipulation once you get used to it. The price is right because of the new models which are only marginally faster. Get it before they are sold out.

I knew about the risks to get an open box product But it cames without manual, some dirt on the screen and some scratches. I can not register the Mac in the apple. O do know about the warranty

I purchased refurbished. It arrived dirty and with a tangled cord. I transferred all my data and it promptly broke. Screen went black permanently

Awesome MacBook. Got it for my daughter to use in High School and she’s a senior in college and still using it!!

When the first gen MacBook came out, I bought the base model. I then returned it due to its performance was just not there for the price. I really love the form factor and how ultra thin, light weight and everything. After the second gen(perhaps it is just an update) was released, I decided to give it another try. I went with M5 model instead of the baseline model. I must say that, the M5 is much better then the baseline first gen I tried. I was thinking about the M7, and after doing enough reading I decided to just stick with M5. All in all, I am really loving this little MB.

I've had this laptop for 8 years and only now I'm replacing it. Really good product and never had any problems with it. Loved the rose gold color too.

Very lightweight and lasted four years before I had to buy a replacement memory card and a new processor.

This overall has been a great computer. Both my daughters have used this for six years and it still functions properly.

Mac’s are cool and awesome computers everyone knows this cmon get one.

I was looking for a laptop that I can use in my work and travel. I was waiting for the new macbook pro but it was taking forever for the new version I decided the new macbook 12 which I never considered as I was afraid that I wouldn't like the new keyboard and it would be slow. I tried the new keyboard in the store and it was a charm. I think I have been typing a lot on the iPad that I a used to touch typing and now I prefer the new keyboard compared to my old 15 MBP. The macbook 12 is much faster that what I expected and I didn't notice any slowdown. I mostly use it for emails, web, and professional through Citrix. I also watch 4k movie through youtube and didn't notice any slow down. The screen is amazing the best i have seen.

So i am going to be starting FLVS very soon and want to know if this fills the requirements for a laptop needed for school. I am more familiar with apple products then others and need advice. Please help, if anyone does FLVS or has done FLVS before.

Great size and feel. Very good to travel with. Key board fell is excellent. I strongly dislike the single port. Only a usb-c. It's a pain. requires daisy chaining all my old usb peripherals.

They are offering a "sale" on last year's discontinued model without specifying that they are doing so. The same "sale" price for last years MacBook is the regular price on Amazon—and at least they have the integrity to label the model as "Discontinued by Manufacturer."
