Not the best laptop out there, but the price...

This MacBook is still behind today's PC offerings in terms of the design. It is also not as powerful as the Pro series. However, it is light, it is slim, and for the price I paid, this is a laptop to beat. Gorgeous retina display has finally replaced the HD+ screen Apple has been using for far too long in its Air line. There are a lot of complaints out there about the butterfly keyboard. I personally don't seem to have any problems with it. It feels sturdy and is fun to type on. Those who don't like it can always go with the 2019 revision of the MacBook Air lineup. Otherwise, the laptop is perfect for day to day use and light Photoshop use.

For me it's the additional memory

The physical UX is better for me and I'm very familiar with Apple OS, although I like Windows 10 just as much. But the layout of the PC keyboard/trackpad on the Windows machines leads me to make more typing errors so I bequeathed my high-end Dell to my oldest son, making him very happy, and got this Macbook Air with 16GB of RAM for myself. For me and the general/photo/music editing that I do, the combination of i5 processor and memory works well, I really don't see a big performance hit from an i7 (my Dell).

I have been a "Windows" person and found the transition relatively easy. The unit works great, has power and adequate built-in storage.

16gb ram and 512gb hard drive are perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 2 Macbook Air 2018 models (8gb 256gb for home use and 16gb 512gb for work). Candidly, if you want to boot Win 10 and partition the hard drive, the 16gb 512gb option will last you about 4 years. That is if you use it for business purposes. If you write code and compile, take a mac pro with the i7 and 32gb ram... which is something I also have but for a very different reason. In general, if you aren't using this for hardcore gaming or compiling a lot of code, this is a great machine to partition and run both OS X and Win 10 on.
