I love this laptop. It is light, thin. I love the new track pad and how big it is compared to older macs the only think I'm not so sure about is not having any USB ports on this new design, but other than that love the design and laptop so far

The laptop is used for a high school student. It is light, thin, light easy to carry. I would put it in a sleeve or buy a clamshell as the screen had to be replaced due failure from what the Apple Store said was a crack. There was no visible crack.I think it is due to the lid being thin. The battery required to be changed under warranty and main board required to be replaced 3 weeks, after the screen was replaced because the laptop would not charge. I would definitely buy the apple care. Out of pocket the screen cost me $105. The AC adapter cord shows sign of wear. All in all I would purchase the new laptop that has the new I5 processor being quad core instead of dual core. The dual core is fast and the battery life lasts all day. The newer laptop was released 5 months after i purchased this one. The apple laptops last me 4-5 years and then it is time to buy a new one.

I bought the MacBook Pro to replace one that was 7 years old. Restoring from backup was seamless. This computer is a good bit faster than my old one. I wish it had the DVD drive, USB and other ports may old one had, because I had to buy docking hardware to hook up a DVD drive I also had to buy. But, I guess Apple is trying to make them as small as possible, and it is much smaller and lighter than my old one.

The Macbook Pro is great, light in weight, great resolution, gives me the latest updates and fast fast fast. Was so sad that finally I had to say goodbye to my 8 year ole Powerbook 15". This will be my travel companion as I travel the globe

This Mac Book Pro is just what I was looking for after using my other one for oner 8 year. It performs better than its specs and the size and weight are impressive. The only disappointing feature is the change to the USB, which made me have to buy an adapter. And the adapter, once in place, does not allow the new case I just purchase for the laptop to fit. Now I need to return it and find something else. Also the size of the adapter overshadows the other ports on the side of the laptop once it's in place.

I had an Acer Chromebook that wasn't doing the job for me in college lectures. It always disconnected to wifi, and was extremely slow. So, I went out and got a macbook, and it was everything I didn't know I needed! Battery life is long, charges fast, connects to wifi easily, it's very light weight and portable. Plus it comes with so many apps on its own (imovie, antivirus, etc.) and holds all my pictures. Wish it came with a lightning to USB adaptor, but you can pick up one at Best Buy for $10. Love my laptop!

I purchased the 256K version of this Macbook and I love it. I love the fact that I can take my calls on the phone. It is very light and the battery life is awesome. Bough it on a sale and received additional student discount. I'd recommend this product to someone who is looking for a long term purchase. The price might be a bit high at the time of the purchase, but the TOTAL cost of ownership will be lower in the long run once you've had it for a few years. No need to worry about security or viruses.

Bought 2 of these for our 2 teenage boys for Christmas. Great size, super lightweight and fast. They were both SUPER excited when they opened their presents. Also, huge shout out to all of the Heritage Trace Best Buy employees. We live 45 min away and have 3 BB's closer to us, but the Heritage Trace BB employees always give top notch customer service! We won't use any other Best Buy locations as the customer service we receive at this location far exceeds any other BB we've been to!!

The only MacBook Pro that I trust...

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch escape/function key (non touch bar) model vs. the 2018 MacBook Pro 13-inch touch bar model. All MacBook Pro 2016+ have the butterfly keyboard issues regardless if Gen 1, 2, or 3 keyboard. It remains to be seen if the 2019 version which has the Gen 4 keyboard finally resolves all of the issues. I'm not sold that 2018 version which has the Gen 3 keyboard is for the better because the added silicone membrane can actually trap dust/debris. The Gen 2 keyboard, which this MacBook Pro 2017 includes, will at least be somewhat effective with the "canned air" cleaning approach. It's crazy that this topic even needs to be considered! But thankfully Apple is providing a multi-year warranty out of the box... For the 2017 MacBook Pro, the keyboard warranty should be good until mid-2021 at the very least. But the keyboard was not the major factor in my decision to go with the 2017 MacBook Pro. I specifically went with this 2017 model because it does not have the new T2 chip which Apple incorporated into the 2018 MacBook Pro architecture. The T2 chip is proving to be very problematic (data corruption, kernel panics, audio issues, etc.). The forums are posted with troubles all pointing to the new T2 chip. The T2 chip runs BridgeOS and must integrate with the existing (proven) Intel architecture. Why it's called "BridgeOS". Even with MULTIPLE firmware updates to the T2 chip, there remains lots of problems which have yet to be resolved by Apple. This 2017 MacBook Pro does NOT have the T2 chip thankfully! Between the keyboard issues and T2 chip issues, I cannot help but think that Apple is using consumers as "guinea pigs" with this latest generation of MacBook Pro! Argh! Also, the 2018 MacBook Pro, specifically the 13-inch models, are having lots of heat/ventilation issues with the newer 8th-generation Intel processors due to increased core counts especially when under load. The 13-inch chassis was not engineered to support proper ventilation of quad-core+ CPUs. Plain and simple! It surely doesn't help that Intel is way behind schedule releasing 10nm Ice Lake processors which perhaps would have eliminated such heat/ventilation issues. Apple was expecting Intel to deliver with this generation! Unfortunately, Intel did not deliver and Apple is forced to use processors which exceed the thermal design of the 13-inch chassis. Thankfully, the 13-inch chassis does a good enough job ventilating the dual-core i5 equipped on the 2017 MacBook Pro which is more than sufficient for ordinary photo/video tasks. Lastly, to my surprise, the 2018 MacBook Pro has speakers installed towards the bottom of the palm rest which actually discharge sound through the side ventilation slots!!! The large speaker grilles are mostly cosmetic except for a tiny hole for the tweeters!!! It's like Apple was too lazy to design a proper top case for the 2018 MacBook Pro and just re-used the 2017 top case. In the end, the 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch escape/function key (non touch bar) model looks to be the safest bet if you need a newer generation MacBook Pro. Minus one star due to the butterfly keyboard issues.

    First Mac, never going back

I have been a devout Windows consumer from the beginning. In fact, the last apple computer that I used was the Apple II E... and that was in Elementary school. I never had anything against Apple or Mac, really, but I was always concerned with compatibility issues, so I just stuck with Windows. And then came Windows 10... I dodged it and avoided it for as long as I could because it's basically spyware (apart from being practically unusable), until one day my faithful Asus laptop (Windows 7) finally crashed and something had to give. So I finally bit the bullet and took the plunge... And I can not believe what I have been missing out on for all these years!!! To start with, the build quality on the MacBook Pro (13inch) is freakin amazing! It is without a doubt the most solid-feeling laptop that I have ever seen or held in my hands. Seriously, just pick one up and you will instantly know what I am talking about. I love how thin (and definitely NOT feather-light) and sleek it is, yet there is no sacrifice in speed, power, or battery life. Now that I have adjusted to the keyboard, which is slightly different from my Asus, I simply cannot find enough excuses to use it. Also worthy of note: The trackpad is the first one that I have ever been able to use easily and efficiently. I bought a wireless mouse for it, but I almost never bother using it. For starters the trackpad is HUGE, so there's plenty of space to move the pointer from one corner of the screen to the opposite corner without having to lift your finger. Also, the scroll feature is life-changing... bottom line, go into Best Buy and fiddle with one for 20 minutes - you will never be the same again. As for the OS; I was truly impressed at the ease with which I was able to pick it up; and I am neither easily impressed nor overly tech-savvy. There weren't nearly as many compatibility issues as I feared. I would not hesitate to recommend this machine to anyone - Windows devotee or otherwise. Frankly, it has been a very very long since I have been this thoroughly impressed with anything.

I switched from a pc to mac because of the battery life and me already having a apple iphone. The most exspensive piece of technology i bought but so worth it when i saw that my friends have had the same macbook for 7yrs and was great. If you know you are going to use it for coding, then highly recommend this mac because you need portablilty and speed and power. Also if i do i need windows, just download a windows virtual machine. The most exspensive thing i bought up at this point.

As a longtime Apple product owner, I have been skeptical to buy the new MBP. My previous MBP was a mid-2012 and showing some age (typical laptop problems, mostly related to overheating). Having done my research, I was concerned about the reported issues, mainly keyboard issues and frustrations over lack of USB ports, etc. After buying it, I have had NO problems and LOVE my new Macbook Pro! It's light weight, fast paced... I'm very happy I upgraded!

This is my third MacBook. With the growing prices and lack of ports, I considered going back to Windows for the first time in seven years. I tried a Chromebook and had both some software and hardware issues. In the end I saved up for a trusty MacBook because of the convenience, like the fact that I can get my messages on my computer or that I can use AirDrop to easily share files between my computer and my phone. It's the little things in OS X that add up and make the difference compared to Windows. In addition, I've never had a problem that I couldn't fix on a MacBook, something that couldn't be said for the numerous PCs I had before I got this. The size is excellent; feels even smaller than the Air I had and is way faster thanks to the new processors and more RAM. Lack of ports is really the only reason I'm taking off a star, but in all honesty I very rarely use the USB's on my computer
