I bought my first MacBook Pro several years ago just to see what all the fuss was about and I would never switch back to a PC. Pound-for-pound, the MacBook Pro is one of the best laptops on the market. Compared to other similarly spec'ed computers, the MacBook is thinner and lighter with great battery life. (If I turn down the brightness and refrain from using processor-intensive programs, I do not have a problem running the laptop for a full 8-hour workday.) Beyond that, the retina display is beautiful and the internal SSD is blazing fast. The computer also has a strong Core i7 processor (although it is not Intel's latest model). Oddly enough, the thing about the MacBook Pro that I cannot live without is the glass touchpad. I have tried other laptops and they pale in comparison. The touchpad is smooth and responsive. It is a joy to use.
One of the things I also like about Macs is their operating system, OS X. Unlike Windows machines that try to be all things to all people, OS X is truly a desktop experience with a file system that makes sense and access to desktop applications. True, the MacBook Pro does not have a touch screen, but then again, if that is what I wanted, I could pick up a tablet.
I tend to upgrade computers frequently and the MacBook Pro, unlike an equivalent PC, tends to hold its value pretty well. Unlike PCs, a high-end MacBook Pro should also last for at least four to five years before an average user would even need to think about upgrading. Given Apple's closed architecture and operating system integration, a Mac is actually a good purchase. True, a MacBook Pro is more expensive than an equivalent PC, but then again, the MacBook Pro also does not come with any annoying shovel-ware that I would just need to uninstall after purchasing it. If you're looking for inexpensive or cheap, then the 15" MacBook Pro is not what you want. If you are willing to pay a little bit more for a computer that is definitely worth the premium (and are willing to learn some new keyboard shortcuts if you currently use PCs), this is a great option.
Apple also has a 13" model of the MacBook Pro, which can be a good compromise if you are looking for something a little more portable and less expensive. I used to have one of the newer 12" MacBooks as well, which was a sensational computer for traveling. The form factor on that unit was almost that of an iPad... It was incredible. I missed having multiple USB ports, however. I never could get quite used to the new keyboard mechanism, and the fanless computer MacBook, while incredibly cool and quiet, was horribly underpowered, especially if a person does any video editing or other processor-intensive tasks.
While I miss the extreme portability of my 12" MacBook (the 15" MacBook Pro feels like a boat anchor in comparison), the power of my 15" MacBook Pro is something I simply could not live without. With the 1 TB SSD, it truly does serve as not only my laptop, but a desktop replacement as well. (I found myself using my 15" MacBook Pro more than my 27" 5k retina iMac, so I sold the iMac and use the MacBook Pro as my sole computer now.) When at home or work, I just plug another monitor into the built-in HDMI port and I am all set with dual-screen computing. When on the go, the 15" screen provides plenty of real estate to multitask as well.
Ultimately, if you are looking for a computer to browse the internet, answer mail, and maybe do some word processing, this computer would probably be overkill. If you need portability and power, however, the 15" MacBook Pro is definitely difficult to beat.

My last 19" laptop was 11yrs old and my only computer and it survived multitudes of trips, 2 bed rest pregnancies, 2 little kids, much abuse and no scratches.
This $3000+ laptop made it 5 weeks before the screen broke. It was deemed accidental and IS NOT COVERED UNDER APPLE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! So $700 later plus the $350 for the warranty, I'm now into this for $4000+.
What type of horrific negligence did it incur you ask? I put a stack of 12 papers, no clips, no staples nothing on the keyboard, closed the screen part way so I could move it to the next room. Went to open it and heard a crack. Not happy. Didn't even break the glass but shattered the display underneath. See the pic.
I love this computer but I think I'll go for a PC next time, they're just much sturdier. Too bad.
Also, salesperson at Best Buy told me it had accidental coverage on the warranty...so there's that too. Imagine my surprise when I went to the Genius Bar. (MAD FACE)

While there's no arguing this is an expensive option in the laptop game, its performance, reliability and longevity speak volumes to selecting a quality option like Apple. Setup is very quick and straightforward and provided me with a computer that was basically ready to use in just a few minutes. Syncing with iCloud brings in email addresses and settings and the remaining manual setup was quick and painless. The fan is the only moving part but rarely kicks on so it's silent and runs much cooler than my previous Macbook Pro. The flash memory drive is exceedingly faster than a standard or hybrid drive. Startup and shutdown take mere seconds and programs open in a flash. Battery life has been excellent and matches the specifications even with that beautiful Retina display at a bright setting. It's lightweight but not so much so that it won't sit on your lap or feels like its constantly ready to fly away.

From starting out with Macs in college, and then being assimilated to Windows for 90% of my career, then coming back to this laptop, for my personal use, I have to say it is the best computer/laptop. Yes you are paying a premium, for a premium product. I cannot begin to tell you all the issues there are when using Windows based PCs. My last laptop was a top of the line Dell XPS (comparable to this new laptop). I still had a ton of issues. This Mac laptop just works so well and intuitively. Very powerful, very quiet, and very thin and light. The battery actually lasts most of the day and it charges up fast. I decided to install Parallels Desktop on it with Windows 7. All my Windows apps work fine, including some Windows Server applications I use and develop on. This laptop, to me, is worth the investment. That's how I look at it. Everyone I have known who has had a Mac product, including me, has never really had to throw it away. They just keep on running and people buy a new mac because they want new features, not because it is incapable anymore.

Being an avid PC user for most of my life, this is my first MacBook pro computer. I have to say that I love this machine. Im a computer animator/video editor and have high demands for the machines I work on while I travel. The biggest deciding factor for me making the switch was that I could still run Windows on this machine. Guess what Windows 10 runs solid on here but I am finding myself using the Apple OS more and more. I use the Windows side for some software that only runs on Windows. Everything on this machine just works. On the Apple OS it found my wireless printer automatically. It is a great and powerful machine as I use Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator, after effects and Dreamweaver everyday. On the windows side I run Lightwave 3D for 3D animation. I have not run into a single issue yet and couldn't be happier! Oh yeah this thing boots in 7 seconds!!!

I do music production, and used a 15" 2011 MacBook Pro for years with no issues. It was my first Mac, and while I was apprehensive after having had PCs my whole life, I tried it out based on the multitude of great reviews I read online. They were all true, these are solid machines.
Then, late last year, I decided to "upgrade" my computer to a high-powered Microsoft laptop. I sold my MBP to help fund the purchase of a top end Windows 10 laptop, which on paper had twice the processing power, RAM, and storage as my old MBP.
It worked okay for a couple weeks; it wasn't noticeably faster than the old MBP, and actually seemed to bog down more easily under heavy CPU usage. It even crashed a couple times when pushed a little harder, something that never happened with the MBP. Then, after a couple weeks, it had a catastrophic crash, and ate its own hard drive. Microsoft deemed it totaled, and gave me another free of charge. The new one started crashing on me same day while installing my audio software.
That was enough for me. I brought it back, and picked up this sleek machine, basically just an updated version of what I'd had before. I couldn't be happier! I'm back to smooth operation, even under more heavy CPU usage, and haven't had so much as a blip or audio crackle with this new MBP. I'm a Mac lifer now.

Powerful, compact and dependable Apple MacBook Pro

It was time for a laptop upgrade, and I shopped around for price and value. I even considered Windows-based technology since I grew up on, and used to build my own, Windows-based computers. But, Apple technology--specifically MacBook Pros, have lasted longer, and with virtually no failure or problems. So, it was a no-brainer to continue using the MacBook Pro for the next few years.
Though I knew the newer model would be out soon, it didn't matter since there wasn't anything I'd need in the new model, and this laptop is more than enough to get any job done with speed and efficiency. Packed with rich features and a long-lasting battery. Compact and light. If you need to use windows or windows-based programs (or any other OS, then it's easy to use them through Parallels at the same time running the MacOS. This laptop handles both without a hiccup.
I was able to check out all of my options and shop around the various options on both Mac and PC while at Best Buy...which is great because they're an authorized dealer...and it beats the packed zoo at the Apple store. Plus, they have Apple reps that can answer any question thoroughly.
I've bought two previous Apple MacBooks and each has lasted me 4 years. (and they both still work flawlessly.) I've also purchased several other Apple products with the same result. PC-based products don't last nearly as long. Apple provides quality and dependability, which is huge for me. I'm more than happy to pay a premium for the Apple technology for the value I get in return.

I love this computer, especially the 1TB solid state hard drive, however, I don't like the fact that I have to get the best and fastest processors and highest amount of memory just to get a decent sized solid state hard drive and large screen. I would be fine with half the RAM and a slower processor, I just want the larger screen and the large solid state hard drive. The solid state hard drive is what gives you incredibly fast boot speeds, typically it takes less than 3 seconds to wake up from sleep and less than 5 from a cold boot. I use the computer for cloud based application for work so don't need much hardware for that, and I also like to store my photos and videos, but don't any editing, so the high memory and processor sit idle, but i need large storage space for photos and video, my iPhoto library is 510gb so I need the TB drive, don't like that I had to get the best processor and max memory that are never utilized just to get a nice sized solid state drive. But this computer is fast and light (for it's size)

This MacBook Pro is the top of the line Apple laptop and it's quite expensive. As a long time Mac user I chose to get the best model because I keep my computers a long time and the expense is worth it to me. You might not need all this power or storage, and if so you might save some money with a less costly model. But I'm happy with my purchase.
This is a very fast machine, and has a superb display. The keyboard and trackpad are very nice, just what someone like me, an iPad user who doesn't like glass keyboards or clumsy physical add-ons, needs.
I was also able to buy a dock and connect this MacBook Pro to a full size monitor, keyboard, and other peripherals quite effectively.
One note of caution. I bought the Apple SuperDrive CD/DVD drive to use occasionally when I need an optical drive. I wasn't happy because the SuperDrive is finicky about when and how you connect it to the MacBook Pro, and I think you can get LG or other drives less expensively that work as well or better.
In summary, if money is not a serious constraint for you, you'll probably be very pleased with this laptop. If cost is a consideration, your needs might be met less expensively with other models from the Apple line.

There's no question regarding apple's quality for most of their products, however the fact that the company decided to switch back to AMD from nVidia for their GPU's?, now that deserves one "bad apple" and "one less star". I noticed other "not so good" changes like the lack of an ethernet port was kind of a surprise for me and not providing a USB type C connector for such a new model (Mid 2015). However, I was very pleased with the performance thanks to the lighting speed from the SSD connected via pCi express instead of the traditional SATA; now thats fast and a good change to the right direction. And to my surprise, the battery life is actually much better than anticipated

I do a lot of design & editing work, it's rare that I don't have at least one Adobe Program up & running. This beast keeps up with me better than any system I've had thus far! I have an old 27" iMac at home, but I needed to be more mobile. I know many prefer the smaller 13" laptop but the extra money for a larger model is always worth it if you're spending a lot of time on your computer.
I got the Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB Flash Storage. I cannot tell you how much I love it! It's FAST! It's crisp & clear. The touch pad is totally customizable. It's quiet (a new idea I'm sure for all the PC users out there...) All in all, I wish I had gone more mobile sooner. It is so great to be able to bring my work with me & present it how I want it to be seen on such a clear screen!
5 out of 5 stars. If you're on the fence about getting one, just do it! You will be so glad you did, especially if you use it for any type of display projects (design, editing, photography, video, art etc...) I hope this helped you and please don't forget to hit that thumps up button.

As I am a Mac lover, I usually never go wrong with one. My only complaint with this one is that it tends to spin a lot more than I expected it should. I upgraded from my smaller storage spaced Mac so that I could run my VMWare and still store my docs and pictures. Space seems to be fine, but the machine gets all worked up when I have too much open and running at once.

This is the best Laptop I have ever owned. I've owned Sony Vaio laptops and Acer. The quality of the hardware alone is the best. It's not flimsily made by any means and I'm finding something new to do on it every day. I had a 2009 Macbook Pro before this and still do from work so the obvious is that the new one is much faster but the not-so-obvious thing that I was surprised at was the difference in the quality of the sound. The speakers on this are crystal clear and much louder than I thought they would be.
Before purchasing, I was considering getting a desktop computer, but I got this and set it up with dual MAC 27" Monitors. I can close my Macbook Pro and work on the monitors and the Macbook just does it's thing.
Bottom line - this laptop is the best. If you can get your hands on one - do it! I haven't found anything I don't like.
