This MacBook is very easy to setup. It walks me through in just a few screen to get setup. I used the App Store and got the latest "Office like" applications for free. With the office apps, this gives me everything I need to do my work and for my personal usage.

This laptop is fantastic. It is lightning fast, super compact, light weight, and the screen is visually beautiful. I travel for work so it was important to have a light weight laptop that could fit easily in a backpack. Also, small enough that I could comfortably work with it on a airplane. Being that this laptop is virtually the same size and weight as the Air it fits my needs perfectly. I also have to edit and post photos I've taken, and with the retina display screen my pictures look amazing. Overall I love this laptop. My only complaint would be the price point. This is my first Apple laptop so it was a little tough for me to drop that kind of money on a computer. Having said that I am glad that I ended up choosing the Mac Book Pro w/ Retina vs The Air. I was going to originally choose the Air simply for the price point. However, once I was shown the differences between the new Pro and the Air it was an easy decision to spend the couple hundred dollars extra on the Pro.

I came in the store and was quickly helped and taken to the Macs after I told the sales person my desire to get a Mac Book Pro for my daughter for her high school graduation gift. We looked at my choices (I had done a lot of research online before coming in) and I decided on my purchase - a Mac Book Pro with a retina display. In check out, we discovered that my Best Buy credit account had gone out of date, but the sales person quickly - really quickly - reapplied online for me and got approval just as quickly. I was in and out of the store in no time with a great computer. My daughter was and remains delighted with her top-of-the line graduation gift, which is everything she had hoped for!

The mac pro is good for storage and space when doing reports and i use the internet surfing for doing homework assignments. It is lightweight and easy to transport. I like the ease of opening and the start up is fast when doing homework. I can save my work and find it on the desk top. I like the spelling word corrections. the icons at the bottom of the page is easy to navigate my findings, especially for my mail. The screen is plenty big for doing FaceTime . The battery life is great and I have only had to recharge it once in the month that I have had it. I do not watch movies but it would be great for that also if I needed for easy access. Overall, it is just a good notebook to have for storing and receiving information.

    Perfect Computer for Anyone!!!

This computer's perfect for anyone, seriously no joke. If you're a student, a teacher, a writer, a poet, an artist, a musician, a photographer, or even if you have an iPhone, AppleTV or iPad, or if you're anybody... you should seriously consider picking this up. The battery life on this computer is crazy good. I did a test and had this running for 11hrs on about 80% brightness. I was able to research, write, photoshop, layout, and just watch a couple movies online. The screen, although only 13", is perfect. One would think 13" is too small, but with the Retina Display, you can scale the screen to increase your desktop real estate, meaning you can maximize the space by scaling everything smaller. Once everything's smaller, you can have more windows and programs fit on your screen. Because it's a Retina Display, the font, the text, EVERYTHING is crystal clear. It's as if I have a 27" iMac on my 13" screen. And because it's running Mac OS Mavericks with Spaces, you can run other programs on other desktops, which is a must have for laptops. And because of Mavericks, if you have an AppleTV, you can extend your desktop to any TV display the AppleTV is connected to. Although it's not designed for gaming, I was able to play StarCraft II and Borderlands II on High settings with no problem whatsoever. If you have an iPhone or iPad the better. Your mail, calendars, your contacts, photos, files (if running Pages, Numbers, and Keynote), is synchronized on all devices creating a perfect hub of everything you do! Seriously no joke, this computer's perfect.

Best quality laptop at this size and price

I'll start with this, I have a solid pc for home theatre and gaming. For gaming, you pretty much need a pc to get everything you want. And for the most part, pc is fine, I was very used to it. Laptops though, I've had them all: Dell, Compaq, Gateway, Toshiba, Asus, Acer, etc. Seriously, I've owned all of those brands. I used to buy extreme budget ones, and they'd last about a year, and then be worthless, and I'd upgrade to the next deal. Got introduced to a macbook by a friend, several years old, still screaming. Incredible build quality (compared to what I was used to, but still, compared to anything). Backlit keyboard a great feature. Doesn't run 1000 degrees like many I had. Awesome display. SSD 10 second boot times. Very thin and light. To top it off, MAC OS. No more viruses, no more computer slowing down for no reason, no boat loads of drivers for this and that and the other thing. Printer, just works, plug and play. Scanner, just works, wirelessly, plug and play. Spent hours trying to hook up both to my PC. Anyway, I love it. I wanted something thin, first looked at an air, but to me, the screen didn't cut it, for that price, you should be getting a retina. Best of both worlds. Am I comparing apples with oranges a bit, yes. $1200 mac with $500 PC. Not a fair fight. Just explaining my laptop progression. Bottom line: it's a very high quality product, from case, to keyboard, to trackpad to display. With a very non frustrating OS. O, and if I want to upgrade in 2 years, instead of having a $500 pc worth $100 used, I'll have a $1200 macbook that people will pay $1000 for on craigslist.

This is my first MacBook and I am already thrilled to own it. It came with OS X Mavericks (latest OS) so it was ready to use out of the box. A real pleasure to use given the smooth performance of the 4th generation (Haswell) CPU, solid state drive, Intel IRIS graphics (integrated), USB 3, Thunderbolt 2.0 and the latest 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Face Time works very well with the built in HD webcam. I was able to play Left4Dead game via Steam client and noticed absolutely no performance hit. The retina screen is drop dead beautiful and I am able to read small text very easily. The aluminum body is great but can easily get dings and scratches if not careful. Would definitely recommend a full body cover. Also I was able to get my free copy of iWork creativity apps (iPhoto, iMovie & Garage Band) & iLife productivity apps (Pages, Numbers & Keynote) from the Mac App Store. Apple has made these free for anyone who purchases a new Mac on/after Oct 1, 2013. This makes my MacBook Pro productive from day one. All in all, a great laptop for all-round use. One suggestion for anyone considering this is to upgrade to the higher RAM & storage capacity, specially if you are going to install Windows or you plan on playing games.

Replaced a perfectly good MacBook Air 11" for a larger Retina screen and larger HD. My new 13" Retina MacBook PRO, is almost has thin a just about a pound heavier than my 11" it replaced. SSD is blazing fast, and has plenty of RAM needed to perform multiple basic business functions at one time. My only ding is you do pay a little more for the Apple product, but you certainly get what you pay for in this machine. The design is unmatched. "it just works" rings true every time I turn it on.

Moved from a X220T. I have a desktop primarily running Windows/Linux, so this machine is used to SSH into my home machine. I love the interface, use of design and the overall performance. I can't hear the fans, I can't feel the heat (thank you Haswell) and it's a breeze to use and take around. The 128GB is not huge to save data files. So, I'd highly suggest keeping a backup (at least 2) of your data, to keep it safe and also save some space. Highly recommended !

Great choice for a Laptop. This is my first, and its amazing. Not heavy, not big and clunky. Its the perfect size and weight. Easy to use, and the battery life is awesome. Up to 9 hours of battery life, I couldn't believe it. Worth the price, especially if you are going to use it for business. A great buy

Apple laptops have come a long way making them this lightweight and super quiet. It's extremely compact and is the perfect mobile laptop. Very powerful and the Retin display is a must have after your first use. Solid state drive makes this computer act on a snap even after opening, however I wish it was larger. Apple offers a Time Capsule Hard drive that connects wirelessly to all your devices and also acts as the fastest router available.

This is my first apple laptop/desktop system and overall I'm impressed. I've been a longtime windows user and decided to try out a Mac to see how things work (might be moving towards a Mac based system at work, so I wanted to get a head start). Initial thoughts. Nice rugged design, solid frame. Screen clarity (Retina) is amazing. Mouse is intuitive (finder swiping, zooming, multiple finger gestures) all work very well. Battery life is great (7-9 hours easily). Charging plug is simple (magnetic) helping to reduce issues of power plug port becoming broken if the plug becomes torqued and snaps off contacts. Operating System. Simple to use. Took a bit of time to figure out file system structure and installing programs but after a couple of days, everything operates as expected. The Solid State (Flash) drive in the system is amazingly fast. Sleep mode (in and out) is much faster than anything Windows related. Overall this is speedy unit, the 4 GB of memory is sufficient for for anything you can think to do basics (web, email, office for Mac, video editing and any other programs you can think of). Props to Apple. Glad I gave it a try as I suspect, I will be buying more of these in the future.

Very good design, very compact and intuitive to get used to. Great touch pad. A bit pricy but worth it, since it includes all the similar office product: Outlook, Words, Excel, Power point. On the deception side: Does not synchronize Ipad from iTunes must use the Cloud. At least at Best Buy you get a certain discount.

Always a windows user, never wanted to make the change to apple. So glad I did. I have an iPad, touch, iPhone, and since becoming familiar with those environments it has been an easier transition to the macbook. The display is outstanding, I was so sick of the weak displays on 5/6/7 hundred dollar window laptops. This display and the lighted keyboard make it well worth the extra money. Build quality is excellent, quick start up, just an all round great compact laptop. Haven't tried office for MAC yet but for what this does now, that wasn't a deal breaker. I'm not sure if I would use this as main PC yet, need to use it longer but for now, it does everything I want and does it very well. Its nice to be out from under Windows buggy world of updates and crashes. I got this on a black friday deal and haven't seen a retina display that cheap since. I don't know if I would have paid more since they are on the expensive side and I'm using it mainly as a 2nd laptop. But if you do, you won't be disappointed.

I love my Mac Pro!! The display is excellent. There are so many great features, and the plus side is that you don't have to buy an antivirus b/c it's a Mac! It's very light and the battery life is excellent for laptop. I highly recommend getting one. Best best thing about Apple is that if you don't know how to use your laptop and want to get all the ? You have answered is to go to the FREE Genius Bar that Apple offers and an apple specialist will help you. You can either do it with a group that might have the same ?'s or you have them personally work with you. So if you're thinking about getting a new Mac Pro with retina display I highly recommend you do so. I promise you won't regret it!
