I like the new Apple TV but no optical Audio

If you were connecting the Apple TV to the AVR(amplifier) to listen music or stream form your iphone with out turning on the TV. That Feature is gone. !

I bought the Apple hdmi cable because some people said that it fixed the problem for them. Didn't work for me but I'm still trying to figure out the problem.
