This updated version of the Apple TV device is great. Being able to add/personalize apps and even add games is great. Only drawback is I liked the old remote better (although rest of family likes this one better). New remote is by touch (think tack pad on laptop computer) which can be frustrating at times (hence 4/5 instead of 5/5) when trying to hover over a specific choice.

I had the 3rd generation Apple TV and saw that this one played the videos of 1080P at 60 FPS and thought I'd notice a sharper image but I was mistaken. Same video quality of the 3rd generation. Then again I have a 4K Television. I should have just waited for them to announce the 4K 5th Generation one. I do like that you get to choose the apps now. Be advised the apps you were used to on the previous one you have to download them all now.

This device has incredibly easy setup and with the new downloading of apps makes it easy to spend hours with the family watching your favorite shows or playing games by yourself or with the family. Best addition to family media. Also if you utilize iTunes the accessing of all your personal media is incredibly streamlined

I had an older Apple TV, and wanted the newer one because it has it's own app store, which means people are going to be making all kinds of apps for it. When I first got it, I was a little miffed because it didn't support bluetooth keyboards and controllers, and the video would shut off a lot, but both of those problems are fixed. right now, I think it is slightly better than my old one, but it's got great potential that other similar streaming TV boxes don't have.

I was a little leary about this product but after doing a little research on it and actually purchasing it, I am completely satisfied. I actually use it as a peripheral display for all my Apple products (iPhone, iPad MacBook etc). Of course the best feature is the ease of use with the simple app management. Well done!

Much improved speed and now including an app store

We use our Apple TV every day! None of its competitors can compare to the voice control abilities, touch pad remote, and operating system! EXTERMELY easy to use. We now have one on all of our TVs!

Cut the cord and this has been a great substitute. My wife and I were worried about using just an Apple TV plus broadcast channels, but we find ourselves enjoying watching tv more now. Wish it had 4K capabilities but at the 150 mark it's not a prohibitively expensive upgrade whenever a 4K version finally comes out.

I love my Apple TV and owned other generation devices as well; however, there is not a lot of difference between the new one and other streaming devices/Smart TVs. I love the Siri integration but haven't found myself using it a whole lot. Also, the device still has trouble with "logging out" of my cable subscription apps. Overall, a great device for streaming, pretty interface but if you have streaming capabilities otherwise then not absolutely necessary to have.

Bought this to replace an Apple TV 2 and a Roku 3. RIght now as is it feels like I am beta testing a product. There are a lot of stability and performance issues. Used it for a total of 4 hours last night. It crashed/rebooted on its own 8 times. Displayed NOT AVAILABLE about 1/2 the time when I tried to airplay to it in several different apps on my iphone 6s. Airplay with the Amazon Video app did not work at all. Would not use/see my iphone 6s to do the set up at the beginning. Lost connection to the remote several times (even while using it). Every game I played (except for Asphalt 8) stuttered. NO support for the Remote App. Scrolling is wonky at times- especially when using the keyboard. (Charged the remote for 2 hours before using it) That said - I like Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Vevo, etc. I like the search function and hope it expands to everything on the ATV4. Asphalt 8 played very well and looks great. Being able to FFW and RW with a swipe is great as is just saying "Go back 1 minute" or "What did he say?" There is a lot of potential here. Hopefully an OS update fixes the stability and performance issues. 9.1 just went into Beta so we shall see.

I am very happy with my new Apple TV. Considering this was the first time I used Apple TV I was looking for ease of use, functionality with my Macbook pro and a good availability of content. I was not disappointed. Mirroring my Macbook to Apple TV on my big screen to video chat made my purchase even more wonderful.

This Apple TV is excellent for streaming. I can watch any of my programs that I want, and it doesn't freeze up.

After becoming frustrated with the poor performance of Amazon Fire sticks I purchased this and had amazing performance with it. Such a powerful device in a small package. Worth every dollar. Plus Apple is partnering with amazon this fall to include amazon prime tv on the Apple TV so it a win!

The only problem I had was that the volume changed on its own. I switched the sound setting from auto to stereo, and disabled the HDMI CEC options. I'm still able to use the apple remote to control my tv volume too. The new remote is much better! Bluetooth instead of "line of sight" and the touch navigation is great, but turn the sensitivity way down on it...Trust me.

I had the earlier model and upgrade to this one. The new remote makes a big difference, the touch surface and Siri. You get to customize and select your own apps on the screen. It's so much faster.

This is a nice addition to our older Samsung TV which is not a smart TV. It works great for Netflix & has features not found on a Chromecast device. Pressing the Siri app to speak "Watch Madam Secretary" (or whatever) sure beats fumbling around doing a manual search for programs to watch!

I have the first AppleTV & wanted a second one. There are a few great improvements on this new AppleTV. The touchpad on the remote is a great feature! The screen is like that of an iPad. I subscribe to Apple Music, which was not available on the old AppleTV, is available on this AppleTV. Highly recommend this!

The new Apple TV, is a lot better than the original. The updated Netflix ap is great. As are many of the aps that have been upgraded. Many aps have not been upgraded tho. The new remote take a few minutes to get use to and works way better than the remote with the original. Siri is just ok. Sometimes Siri wil find a movie and show it available in itunes store and in netflix, but mostly just directs you to itubes strore. even when the movie is on netflix.

Apple took 4 years for a follow up to the AppleTV 3. I expected more than this. Aesthetics are beautiful as expected and it feels much more refined and expensive feeling than the dated "new" interface of the ROKU 4 I also own. But that's about it. The touch remote is hard to use and feels nothing like my iPhone or iPad in responsiveness, and it's overall limited by Apple wanting iTunes to control your media. And no 4K. The ROKU 4 allows you the plug in a USB portable drive (formatted Windows or Mac) and play your videos instantly. It has private channels and 4K. I own everything Apple makes, but the new AppleTV 4 is a disappointment. The only reason I keep it is for AirPlay.,

I have the earlier generation and I was always questioning myself it would be worth to buy the new one, or just get the still avialble early generation for a bargain.... Long story short: I bought the new and I can't be more happier with it. The User Experience is amazing, the new remote control is a must!
