I have the 2nd and 3rd generations as well. The new 4th generation is quite a departure. The UI is very different, so be prepared. Netflix, Hulu and so on have completely different UIs than the previous versions. It's not a bad thing, but it is a bit of a learning curve. Siri remote works pretty well. Touch controls take a bit to get used to. Apple finally has the iOS remote app working as of tvOS 9.1, so that's a huge bonus. The Siri remote automatically started controlling the volume on my home theatre with no work on my end. I was rather shocked. Games play very well so far. I can see a lot of potential in this department. Overall, this is a very nice upgrade.

I will start out by saying that this isn't something that you need, but it is something that can make your TV viewing so much more enjoyable. I have never used an easier interface to access TV programming - it blows the "Smart TV" interface away by a long shot. The Siri search feature works very well, and if you're a Netflix user, makes finding anything you want a breeze. Add to it an ever growing list of apps, including games, and it makes for an excellent add on to your TV. A few improvements that I would like to see are the ability of Siri to search music, DVR functionality, and more TV content. A major downside to Comcast Xfinity subscribers is that Comcast doesn't seem to want to play nice and make it easy to authorize TV apps through the Apple TV - even for channels that you're already paying Comcast for! Guess they want you to rent more of their equipment...At any rate, as Apple continues to invest in the development of this product, I believe it will be something I can't live without.

I bought this in the hopes of replacing my "Pay for TV", I'm tired of getting ripped off !!! So far I like what I see. Full streaming TV is not yet available. I can't wait to cut the cord.

With all of the available apps, this is product is awesome. Mirror function with other Apple devices works seamlessly. A ton of available apps including games for the kids. Great product.

This may seem a bit pricey compared to other streaming boxes, but if you're on the Apple ecosystem this makes the most sense. Many of your iPhone purchased apps will show up instantly on this device and thanks to some advanced HDMI technology (if your TV supports it) this remote controls both my TV and the Apple TV which is really nice. I am a cord cutter so most of the time this is the only remote I use. Works flawlessly for Netflix, Hulu, and many other services. My TV is a Smart TV but the Sony OS is so frustrating that switching to this has been a dream. I no longer have to use the smart functions of my TV which makes me very happy. This small 32 GB option is nice as the unit will dynamically adjust file sizes as needed. A game for instance will download a partial amount to the hard drive and add more as needed while using the app and it will later purge the data if you're watching a large movie for instance. This user friendly feature is really nice.

We use our apple tv every day...great for viewing our favorite movies and tv streaming! The updated remote is awesome, the siri integration is very helpful to locating something quickly.

Easy to hook up and configure and the picture looks great. Plus there are already so many apps to use.

Coming from an Apple TV 2 there was a noticeable improvement in speed and image quality. The inclusion of an app store really adds a lot of possibilities for extensibility in the future.

I had gotten an Amazon fire stick but traded it in for this apple tv. If you don't have a smart tv, get this!! The remote is much easier to use than the first model. Definitely worth it!

I bought this specifically because I wanted to consolidate from my Chromecast, FireTV, and Apple TV 3rd gen back down to ONE box. Problem is Chromecast has app support that the 3rd gen didn't and Fire TV had Plex. There were also various licensing issues for HBO/Showtime apps with Xfinity. Luckily now I can use Airplay, Plex and all my on demand apps with the new Apple TV. All that is missing is bluetooth support for my Harmony Ultimate Home.

The best part of the Apple TV at this point are the screensavers. It is lacking enough apps to make it a gaming console. On the video side, Roku, Amazon Fire, Chromescast and the old Apple TVs have most of what you need. Siri works well but for most people it doesn't make a big difference.

Haven't tried Amazon Fire, but definitely better than the ROKU it replaced. We cut the cord about year ago and only stream now, Netflix, HBO, Sling and several apps that stream video through the device. Haven't had an issue. Perfect HD picture quality, sound, no lag very fast. At first the Sling app was not available so I was a little disappointed but several days after I bought the device it became available. Very happy with product.

even if you're not ready to cut the cable cord, you can use the apple tv instead of box, if you're a TWC customer. and if you are ready to cut the cable cord, this is the perfect tool.

This is a great unit, all kinds of fun and lots of options. The remote takes a little getting used to and is a little touchy, no pun intended. But great when you get used to it. All and all a great unit and a good upgrade from previous model, which i still have and use around the house.

I've had an Apple TV since the first gen. The new Apple TV is by far the biggest upgrade. Better speeds. Updated OS. The motion based screen savers are incredible. Love the new remote.

I had the 1st gen apple tv and bought this for another room in the home. The remote is rad- being able to speak into it instead of typing passwords, etc is a lifesaver.

This is a great improvement to the Apple TV. The user interface has been upgraded to a fresher, more appealing look. It is easier to use than the previous generation of the Apple TV.

We look for a while at other products, but we stock with Apple. My wife enjoys it a lot. When ever we are or steaming we leave it on playing our favorite music. It works really well.

I had the first Apple TV and wanted to upgrade. The new version has Siri and makes searching a lot simpler . Great buy new apps and easy to install. I would recommend the new Apple TV

After reading a few reviews I ended up purchasing the updated Apple TV. I'm pleased with my purchase I love the Siri voice command function and also the screensaver and user display.
