I didn't leap at getting the original Apple TV as I was disappointed that it didn't have Amazon Prime, so I went with app rich BluRay players that had Amazon Prime. Since then, I saw a deal on this and even though it still doesn't have Amazon Prime, there are plenty of apps and I wanted the ability to AirPlay from my iOS devices and Macbook, so that's an added bonus since it works seamlessly. My only complaint thus far is that the YouTube app itself has been spotty on performance, but the rest of the apps I've worked with are much better than the BluRay player versions of the apps I've played with before. The new remote in typical Apple flair is sleek, but as is also typical of Apple -- high on polish and less on just basic usability. Also a frustration is (again in typical Apple-ness), you don't get batteries, you have to charge it with the lightning cable. Since I have enough Apple gadgets in my house, this isn't a showstopper, but if this were the only Apple product I had, I'd be unhappy with this. The initial setup of the device would've gone better if it had properly paired with my iPhone (as it will pull over your home WiFi settings, Apple ID, etc. if it can pair with your iPhone or iPad), but instead I had to type all that manually with the remote -- which is (again) frustrating as the remote doesn't use traditional remote style buttons. My final comment is that this has no audio out if you wanted to run composite L/R audio or to a receiver to play audio. I guess in today's HDTV centric entertainment, maybe this isn't a big deal, but if you had older receivers that you wanted high quality audio piped from your iTunes library or streaming services through to your receiver, it doesn't have this capability. Basically you just have HDMI out. So, if you have a receiver that you funnel all HDMI through it, this would probably work great. If not and you wanted just to listen to music, then you're stuck with listening to it through tinny HDTV speakers.

I love this product. It is a great little streaming device. The App Store is a welcomed addition.

Bought the Apple TV for my daughter’s dorm TV. She loved all the shows she was able to receive that her basic dorm cable service didn’t provide. Easy to install.

With this new Apple TV it does away with all the screen/app clutter. You need to download the Apps you want. The improved remote is nice too. It is RF so I now have my Apple TV in another room and the remote works fine. One Note if you use the Bluetooth speaker option make sure you run the Apple TV on a network Cable or 5 ghz 802.11ac as the bluetooth fights with the 802.11n 2.4ghz and will cut on and off with the sound,

I have finally made the full move over to Apple, this has been a way better product than the chrome cast. I love being able to see all my Apple music and movies.

I love the first generation Apple TV but we love this one even more. Simply better picture quality. Faster connectivity. Storage and faster response. Overall a better product.

I love my Apple TV. Any and all songs and shows I've downloaded are at my finger tips. Great for hours of entertainment between games, Hulu, Netflix and more. Highly recommend.

10 stars. Life changing. Siri can do anything on here. Say "Go to 3 minutes 10 seconds " and it does! TV app unifies all sources. It's the only way we watch anything now. Far superior to other streaming devices. Smooth, stable, beautiful. Great screensavers while listening to Apple Music on our family plan. $15/month for all of us. AND...... Amazon Prime video is coming soon! Currently we AirPlay it.

The 4th generation Apple TV is a solid update to a product that has proven useful to many Apple customers such as me. With the new tvOS, apps are now available, allowing viewers to download the apps they want while dispensing with the rest. Apps/channels that were not available with prior versions of Apple TV are now available, reducing or eliminating the need to go through contortions to view a desired channel, such as playing it on the iPhone and then sending the video via AirPlay to the Apple TV. I'm not really a gamer and don't intend to play any games on it, but the gaming capabilities would be interesting to those who are.

This Apple TV is great for streaming music and video content from cell phone or tablet to my TV!

I have the shield and amazon stick, this is the best product for non gaming applications, shield is a lot better on gaming but the apple tv is very functional and easy to use.

I have a samsung smart tv and the smart hub stopped working due to some network error. I tried fixing it and gave up as I wasn't moving forward in fixing it. I use the youtube, willow tv, yupptv and netflix app on a daily basis on my samsung tv. When I contacted samsung they said it was going to cost me 150$ for the technician to apply a software upgrade to resolve the issue with my smart hub. I decided to invest that money on apple tv instead of paying samsung as it offers pretty much the same apps I use with additional benefits such as games, itunes, iphone/ipad and Mac OS mirroring etc. Totally satisfied with the product. Installation is a breeze. You don't even have to set up the wifi or apple account if you use an apple product like an iphone. You just take the phone close to the apple tv during the initial set up and it detects everything needed from your phone. Apps are very responsive and streaming is never interrupted. I like the fact that I can mirror my laptop or ipad displays onto the TV without the hassle of additional HDMI cables and adapters. Best Part - The remote is IR, I don't need to point it at the apple tv to control it. Pros : Many as listed above Cons : Button on the remote feels little delicate, Option to play media from a hard drive using a USB port would have been perfect (It's apple, so we can forget about it, just being over ambitious), price is higher than comparable options such as google chrome cast, amazon fire stick or roku.

Been waiting for this update for the longest time. Finally here. The last Gen Apple TV was great but this none surpasses it and more. The remote makes a whole lot of difference.

I like the new functionalities with ATV, like selecting what apps to download and using Siri. i love the aerial view screensaver, however, what I don't love is the fact that it seems to continuously loop through the same view. Hopefully there will be an update soon to fix it.

Have used Chromecast and Koku and the picture on Apple TV is far superior. Still lacking in some apps like Starz, but has almost everything and the games are very cool as well

It's so easy to use and the track pad remote is great!! Great selection of apps and movies.

Working for AT&T and getting to play with this TV at work made me want one all the more! It was already easy to navigate and adding the voice control was just an added bonus.

Apple makes a great product with their Apple TV. Easy to set up! A perfect alternative to cable TV for watching Netflix and YouTube videos and streaming iTunes.

If you are already committed to an Apple home environment, the the 4th gen Apple TV is a nice improvement over the previous one. App Store is loaded, volume control and HDMI CEC work flawlessly. New remote is reason enough to buy it. Voice recognition has worked great, especially for putting in passwords. Amazon prime video would be nice, but streaming from my iPad works just like it was a native app.
