I set up my new 4K Apple TV and love it. Set up was very easy as it allows you to use your iPhone or iPad to express set it up or will also let you perform a manual setup. The speed of the new processor is quite an upgrade from the 4th Gen Apple TV that I have on my other television. The picture sharpness and brightness is excellent with the 4K HDR. I had some difficulty at first getting the picture to show in HDR before I realized that my television only supported the highest levels (frequencies) of HDR on HDMI ports 2 and 3. It was great once I figured that out. I use this to stream DirecTV now and HULU. Everything looks better even though the video in those two apps are not currently in 4K resolution. The Siri search feature in the new iOS on this device is extremely helpful. You can tell Siri what television show you want to watch, and it will list all of the ways that you can watch it based on which apps you have installed on your device. It shows both free and paid options based on your subscriptions (Hulu, iTunes, Netflix, etc.). I highly recommend the 4K Apple TV for anyone who is looking for a streaming device for their TV.

The Apple TV 4K (64 Gb) provides a very clean, pleasing interface that's easy to navigate and simple to customize (even for someone like me who is not a big user of Apple products), and is very responsive with very little lag time.
Having the ability to take advantage of Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos was a big factor for me when I was deciding whether to invest, since it is quite a bit more expensive compared to other streaming devices. The Dolby experience on this device is really first-rate.
It might be because I'm not used to Apple's design philosophy, but I find the remote to be absolutely horrendous to use. It is so slick and thin that it's difficult to hold on to! Very annoying to me, but somewhat similar to the way Apple designs their iPhones - as evidenced by all the cracked screens out there, which has almost become an Apple iPhone trademark. It's also too easy to have the remote upside down when you first pick it up. The Menu button has a ring around it to get you oriented with something tactile, but I still find it difficult to orient it in a dark room since there is no backlight on the remote.
I've set up another remote to use with the IR interface so most of the time I can use a remote I can hang on to, but every once in a while I have to use the slippery fish and I get annoyed all over again.
The Siri voice-command feature has worked flawlessly for me and I find it very intuitive.
Performance and picture wise, the Apple TV 4K is very hard to beat, in spite of the fact that some apps are not included (see the CNET review for details).

After my fire tv died after several years of service I researched a new device. I considered, Fire tv cube, Nvidia tv, roku Ultra and Apple TV. Tried the Roku which is a nice device but slowed down when too many apps are downloaded and most of the free content is not that good. Also Roku does not pair well with hd homerun and does not have Att watch app. The fire cube tv is a mess not slick at all and amazon's home page is way too busy. Nvidia is great for hackers and side loaders however it is obvious google is going to put a stop to side loading. So I went with the apple tv because of the superior hardware, speed, storage and the ability to customize the home page. The home page navigation is clean, crisp and easy. Apple works extremely well with the channel app for my hd homerun. I have found even though I am no longer using Kodi or other such apps I have more than I can watch with a much superior experience in terms of use as well as picture and sound quality. For me the apple tv is less hassle and much more enjoyable than the other formats which seem to be very busy.

Similar to products like Roku, this is an interface to multiple on-line streaming services, primarily with your Apple services.
Really nice for 4K services.
But moving around can be awkward if you are new to touch pad controls. And lacks indicators to assist you with pause, forward/backward.
Need to lookup instructions when adding other services that are not part of Apple, i.e. NETFLIX. Redbox is a problem.
Priced higher than other on-line streaming devices. But it's Apple and comes with its inherited quality.

Honestly, this product isn't much different than a Roku, or a smart tv like LG that is very easy to use. My LG tv can share my personal computer screen, or my iphone, and I can play my iTunes or watch a video from my PC, or use any of the apps like Amazon Prime, Hulu, or whatever. And the interface is really easy to use.
So, why did I buy this? The digital world has been overturned by the new Disney Movies Anywhere digital locker. The old UV (Ultraviolet) digital locker is now bare bones, and it has many of us scared that we will lose many of our purchased movies. So, I bought this AppleTV, and I will make all my future purchases through Apple. It's a company that I can trust, and it's worth the cost of almost $200, to have that piece of mind and security. Another great benefit AppleTV offers, is Apple will upgrade any movie that you currently have in HD to 4K, if Apple has it in it's digital library. And, if Apple gets a 4K version of a movie in the future, it will upgrade your old purchase to 4K. So, this is a huge benefit.
It's also easier to have the iTunes app to stream my music, instead of sharing my iPhone to get this option.
Also, the AppleTV is easy to use. It's not radically easier. My LG tv is probably easier, and the Roku does a good job, but the AppleTV is also very easy to use. So, it's a plus.
In conclusion, even though the price is steep. It is worth it. I am happy with my purchase.

I've had 2 previous Apple TV versions, the original and Apple TV 4th Gen. I had to move to 4K version as I updated my TV to 4K. Love the interface and its smooth operation. No menu lag at all. A10X processor does wonders vs the smart TV streaming functions. Works very well with Sony Playstation Vue. The remote is small and slippery, get an Insignia remote case for AppleTV. It makes handling the remote so much easier and secure. Overall very satisfied.

Apple TV 4K - 64GB - Mid-2018 version
Look. I’ve bought and still own everyone else’s top-of-the-line streamer. I’ve had serial love affairs with all of them. I admit to my lack of loyalty. In my defense, I was trying to avoid spending this much money. But, Apple was being really foolish about some of their corporate decisions in the past. That appears to be over, now.
Setup: The Apple TV makes the setup process as easy as possible. If you’re already in the Apple family it will use phone and account info you already have. I like the easy-to-view and use HOME screen which puts you in control of what’s there, and give’s fuss free access to SETTINGS, and your favorite channels. They are ALL here. Netflix, Amazon Prime, MLB, and too many others to list. Non-Apple users will find nothing to complain about, because nothing is assumed and their are no obstacles to use.
The REMOTE is probably too small — it’s going to get lost. But, my Harmony Remote captured all the important actions from Harmony’s database, so I’m not too worried. The APPLE REMOTE is a dream. Just Wow. It allows Sir control of everything — and it works. The MENU button reliably backs you out, step-by-step, from anywhere you are. There is a wonderful TOUCH PAD that has different functions depending on whether you’re in NETFLIX, or MLB.com, or any other APP. Generally, it gives you the ability to easily scan backwards and forwards, skip in increments, slide up into OPTIONS menus, or select between screen choices. Like every other track pad, there’s a learning curve. But, you'll reach for this over your universal remote . . . and it's batteries are long lasting can be recharged!!
The APPLE TV can be given access to your cloud library for fuss-free display of photos and videos on your TV. If you’ve tried and failed to get full music or video screen sharing interactivity between your Mac computer and your TV, you’re neighbors might hear the screams of joy coming from your house. It’s no more difficult than going to your top menu bar on your computer and looking for the APPLE TV. Select. Look at your TV. Voila. Full integration.
PERFORMANCE: The SLEEP screen reveals the Apple’s IMAGE quality immediately. I use the APPLE TV instead of my built-in LG OLED Apps. Why? There’s many more Apps, but most importantly, the images are outstanding. The Remote makes using various Apps mush easier and even fun. The Apps themselves are apparently customized for the Apple TV device and often have more features and allow the REMOTE to provide more control over the program. I’m going to guess the Apple’s powerful chips provide faster or better buffering, because activities occur more quickly and highest resolutions are reached faster.
Highly recommended. That price hurdle becomes a distant memory after you’ve lived with the APPLE TV for a week. You wonder why you waited to make streaming so much easier and fun.

Love the Apple TV 4K! It's simple, and the technology brings out the best in my home theater experience. Dolby Vision! Dolby Atmos! All the apps you can think of! And 64 Gigs of storage if needed!
The picture and sound that are created by streaming on this are amazing!! Gorgeous 4K programming and digital sound! I'm so impressed with the quality!
The remote is awesome! It controls everything and maneuvers so smoothly with voice commands to Siri! Excellent!
Lastly, it's Apple...so I can sync all of my devices and truly enjoy everything. I can use my phone as a remote when typing on the screen. I can easily listen to my iTunes library or watch videos seamlessly. I can throw my laptop onto my TV screen when working or use it as a monitor for meetings. Love it!

I've owned every Apple TV since they were released and this one is the best. Can't say the 64GB is worth it over 32GB. No idea what the storage will ever be used for. The 4K is good - compression artifacts on 4K playback is still noticeable. Biggest bonus was getting free 4K on all my itunes content which that alone may be worth the upgrade. Now that Amazon & Vudu are both available I see no downside to owning this over any other. I really like it.
Biggest bone headed move - the remote sucks. Use the phone or a third part remote. Why they didn't fix this over the generation before is beyond me. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5. It is like they intentionally made the worst remote possible.

I recently ditched traditional cable for a streaming-only lifestyle and love the Apple TV. I love the picture quality and most importantly the fact that it syncs with my other Apple products effortlessly. I was debating on the Amazon Fire, but with all other Apple products, this seemed like a more logical choice. High price point, but this just was released and will hold its value.

Technology is always marching forward. If you’ve made the jump to 4K then this is an amazing addition to your entertainment center. And if you’re an active Apple user then it’s a no brainer. Even if you’re not using 4K yet you will someday. Besides this model is faster than the previous generation so you can easily enjoy the benefits it brings to the table now.

I love the Apple TV 4s, I have 4 of them. I upgraded the family Room one with this Apple TV 4K. Picture is great and so much easier to use and the user interface as befor is so much better than a Roku, Fire, or Casting device. The only downfall is that given the different video rendering of Apple and Google YouTube can’t do 4K on the Apple TV 4K yet.

I had my Version 3 (2012 era) AppleTV connected to a Samsung 75 inch smart TV since early 2014. It was always my go-to device for Netflix and Prime as well as the Apple content because the app was so much more responsive and user-friendly than the Samsung Smart TV apps. I also loved having my pictures as the screen saver but was always frustrated that loading them took so long and it seemed like despite having several thousand pictures in the cloud it only played about 100 or so of them. I also didn't like that the version 3 didn't have the ability to get new apps. I had subscriptions to the DAZN boxing app, Disney, etc that I had to either Airplay to the TV from my iphone or Mac or use the clunky Samsung apps which, incidentally, could never seem to synch the sound to the screen perfectly.
Then the screen saver started resetting to the default apple pictures every time the hockey puck went to sleep and I got really frustrated. I wanted to change to a different streaming device I was so upset but after searching and reviewing all of the options AppleTV still seemed to be the best for me. So I bought the 4K version and decided to go with the 64GB in hopes that it might help with the screen saver.
WOW!! It SOOOO Exceeded my expectations! First, let me talk about the setup. I was dreading the need to go through the wizard, dig up my wifi passwords, icloud passwords, other accounts, etc. Let me tell you Apple has, again, set the bar so much higher than anyone else. You plug the new hockey puck in and turn it on. It tells you to bring your iphone close to the device and BAM! you're done!
Then I was STUNNED by the picture quality! I could NOT believe the difference. I THOUGHT my 4k TV was getting 4K content from Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple but it wasn't - either through the smart TV apps or the Version 3 device. The video quality is AMAZING. Then I went to the app store and found apps for ALL of the subscriptions I have. My wife called me to lunch and when I came back my screensaver was on with pictures I'd never seen on the TV before! I don't know whether it's because of the 64GB or just the upgraded device and I don't care - wow!!
And talk about a responsive app!! The new remote took a LITTLE time to get use to and it's very sensitive but in now time at all I was flying around the screen whether it's surfing youtube videos or just flipping between Netflix and the CW. OH, did I mention how easy it is to use the voice commands on the remote?! Hold down the button and say 'Lois and Clark" and BOOM, you're watching superman. Don't wait another second, I'm sorry for every second I wasted ... go buy one of these puppies TODAY!

I've tried Roku's and Fire Sticks, and none compare to the speed and fluidity as Apple TV. The menu's are easy to navigate and there is zero lag jumping from Netflix, Amazon Prime, YoutubeTv, YouTube, etc.
Apple TV detects your TV and suggests the best possible settings for the best picture. This is my second Apple TV because I was so impressed with my first Apple TV.
The remote touchpad is a little on the annoying side, but if you use your iPhone to control the device, it becomes a lot easier. No longer any need to find the minuscule remote lost in the couch or bed during Netflix binges.

The Apple TV gen 2 box is the best available. I've always been a roku guy, but i've owned them all, from apple tv, roku, chromecast, and fire tv. I rank them: apple tv gen 2, roku, fire tv, chromecast. I love that apple tv box outputs udr 4k tv for vudu. I'd buy it, the price is the only negative.
