Customers are impressed with the Apple TV's ease of use, intuitive interface, and the functionality of its remote and Siri integration. Many appreciate the access to the App Store and the streaming capabilities, along with the improved performance and picture quality. While some wish for a simpler setup process and a lower price point, the lack of 4K support is also a frequently cited drawback.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my boyfriend and we use it all the time! My favorite feature is playing movies from my phone straight to the tv! Plus I got the 64gb for only $10 more than the 32gb from all the great sales Best Buy offers

Once I saw that there were several apps that would allow the Apple TV to play files stored on my local NAS I purchased it. It does not disappoint. Apps like Infuse, NAStify, and MrMC are great for playing files stored on network storage unit. Plus it is controllable from my Harmony Remote. I can finally retire my old WD TV Live SMP box in my home theater setup.

Why no keyboard BT

Overall another clean apple product. Works out of the box with no problem. My harmony remote controlled without any additional set up (note you have to use the Apple TV remote for the new track pad and Siri features). Only negative is you can't connect a Bluetooth keyboard for some unknown reason. Makes setting up the apps very laboriously

The new version of Apple TV is amazing compared to the original. Layout is much more clean, multi tasking feature is very nice, and the new remote is awesome. Siri function was more useful than I had expected.

New Is Not Always Better

I have been using Apple TV's for years since the 1st generation. We have an extensive Apple network in our home. Currently we have 5 3rd generation ATV's in the house and I decided to upgrade the family room unit to this latest one.
Set was easy, as I expected, but here is why I scored it 1 Star.
Firstly they have removed the ability to have background music of my house (from my iTunes library) when using the slideshow feature to view my photo albums. So we can now sit there in silence while watching photos!
Secondly, they have changed the overall background color from black, easy on the eyes, to white, too much on the eyes! We have a Samsung 65inch curve TV and the white background was just too much.
Thirdly, in the Movies and TV show section they have increased the size of the movie jackets so there is less content on the screen, so you are constantly scrolling to see more.
Other things that bothered me was the finger control on the new remote, its a little to sensitive so its all over the place and hard to keep in control and SIRI is useless.
Tomorrow this goes back to BB. I am shocked that Apple has decided there choices for me instead of me. All other devices from other manufacturers allow you to customize your experiences with the way you interact with your stuff but Apple seem to be on a trend to take that away.
I called Apple support to make sure I was not missing something and they confirmed they took the music feature away from the slideshow and they confirmed they did. When I asked why, they told me they felt it was better that way!!!

The new fourth generation Apple TV is a great improvement on the previous third generation model. While the new model still has some rough edges in its operating system, Apple will continue to improve it. Integrates perfectly with my iTunes collection of music and movies for home sharing. Must buy!

Lacking

It is an improvement of the old Apple TV... But compared to other streaming boxes, it is lacking... Few Apps currently, you would think as much time as Apple had this thing in development there would be many but that is not the case. The controller for navigating the menus is good, but for games, depending on the game it can be an okay to horrible experience... anything intensive and you are wanting to throw the controller against the wall. I highly recommend the Nimbus controller if playing the carnival quality games on the box are your thing. I keep going back to my Fire TV because of the sling TV app so the Apple TV is sort of an odd ball that just sits there ready to play a simple game every now and then when I have nothing better to do but waste a few minutes here and there. Currently I would not recommend it… I am returning mine.

I upgraded my Apple TVs to the newest version and it is well worth it. Apple put a lot of new features and games into this new unit and it is worth the cost.

Sure, $149 to $200 is alot to pay for an online streaming device these days, so there must be a reason to still give the Apple TV 5 stars. Here are some highlights:
1) Siri remote is easy to use, and makes the whole user experience better. I was skeptical that I would use the voice function at all, since Siri on my phone never seems to get it right. When searching on the Apple TV however, I love that it recognizes almost every request on the first try. Maybe Siri has improved over the years. The controller requires no batteries and charges with a standard iPhone charger too, which cuts down on annoyance and inconvenience.
2) The TV app. While totally useless on the iPhone, the TV app really makes the whole user experience of the Apple TV better. Search for a show and it will show each and every platform/ app that the show can be watched from. For example, searching for a Movie will give the option open in iTunes, or if the movie is currently available on Hulu or Netflix it will tell you so you can watch it with your subscription. Pretty convenient to unify all of the various media apps.
3) One log in. Nothing is more annoying than entering a password to each and every app. Logging in once with your cable provider will instead unlock all of the apps and services that are included with your plan. This makes everything super convenient because you don't need to log into HGTV, CBS, etc individually.

Better than last Gen, but can be better

The new Apple TV is a great device that is much better than the last generation. However, I feel that it could be a bit more user friendly - i.e. why not have one location to enter in your internet/programming login information?
I feel that the device will improve as more apps are added to the AppleTV ecosystem.

I've owned every Apple TV since the 1st 40gb model. I also own a Roku4. I ran out and bought the newest ATV. I needed to know if it would out do the Roku4. Sad to say, it does not! I really want to have an ATV that would not lose voice sync. Like the last model, from time to time this new model also loses voice sync. Apple has been getting worse every year. I've been using a Mac since 1988, and the company has fallen far when it comes to writing code. There was a time when windows was know for buggy software, sad how the table has turned.
The ATV is going back today, as the R4 loads faster, has headphone out on remote, is 4K, and is just fast overall(in Netflix). And cost less.

Lots of improvements, some drawbacks

This new AppleTV has some awesome improvements over the older model that we gave to our daughter. But we have also noticed that it has lost some key functionalities. The biggest problems we have noticed are with the YouTube app. Gone are the easy and quick links to subscribe to the channel of the video you are watching. I'm pretty sure that falls on the YouTube developers, but it is VERY FRUSTRATING. My advice is if you use YouTube a lot, get one of the older AppleTVs.

With Siri built in, it's much easier to use on-screen keyboards. The touchpad on the remote can be a little touchy, but the app selection is pretty good and growing.

This AppleTV is everything that the first 3 generations wasn't. It adds the App Store and Siri. With the App Store, there are new apps being added all the time. I use the Plex app to stream my movies digitally from my NAS. With the old AppleTVs, you had to either add them to iTunes and use home sharing, or use the Plex app on an iPhone or iPad and stream to the AppleTV via Airplay. Not the easiest way to do things.
