This Cam is great because it doesn't require WIFI, though you will have to pay for data usage once trial period ends but the rates offered by ARLO are reasonable. This was an addition to already functioning system and I like that this thing is go anywhere I can use it at home or take it to the office and also monitor my kids whenever needed

I purchased this camera as my traveling companion. I have a brand new peace of mind now that I have my camera. I don't worry about who comes into my room when I'm not there anymore.

    Completely unreliable!!!!

Video quality is reasonable but the pros end there. After initial set up and purchase of data plan through netgear, the device functioned for maybe 30 sec. I spent 45 min on the phone with device support during which I was assisted with reactivating the device and was told the plan I had purchased was not showing up in their system. This is despite the fact that I had an email receipt confirming the purchase. I was told I would need to purchase a new plan in order for my device to work and that I would be refunded for my previous purchase if I submitted my receipt. I complied, as I was in desperate need of a working security camera immediately. The camera subsequently functioned for a few hours and then went offline again, leaving me without a functioning security camera at the critical time I needed it. I could not be more disappointed with this device. Absolutely worthless!

    Nice when it works

I have had the camera for about 6 months now. When it is online working it's nice. However it goes off line all the time. Where it is positioned it gets 4 bars of 4g service and the battery is plugged in all the time. If you do all the things they tell you to get it back online it will work again. Problem is the camera is for remote location and to reset it you need to physical handle the camera. There is no way to reset or turn on or off once it goes off line. It seems to be that if cell service goes down or has a glitch for a moment that the camera just goes into off line status permanently and can't go back on without a full reset. Very annoying and don't think it is worth the money unless they can work this out.

Caution: Not Ready for Prime Time

Unfortunately this is another Arlo product that was not ready to be released when it was. I have a need for this type of system so decided I would try since I already have a number of Arlo and Arlo Pro cameras. This seemed to work fairly well for the first three days but now it is useless because no one that I have spoken to at AT&T has any idea of what I am talking about when I try to activate the SIM card. So basically I got to use the 15 minutes of data that was included and now the camera is inoperable. I have contacted AT&T via a number of methods and no one has helped. Arlo support is also no help. It sounds like no one at Arlo is aware of how the Arlo Go works and they have no idea of how their own data service plans operate. They continue to ask me about the base station that the Arlo Go is connected to (which this camera does not use) and they tell me I have no data left when it clearly shows that I have used 0 out of 120 minutes that I am paying for. I have pages of notes in front of me regarding the many people I have spoken to and chatted with online, but to no avail. Very frustrating. Although I do have a need for this type of system, Arlo will not be the one. It will be going back before my return period ends this week. Think twice before purchasing. This one is simply not ready to be out on the market yet.

Great Accessory for Camping and the Outdoors

I received my Arlo Go recently and took it on two trips. One to the east coast where we took the Arlo Go to our hotel, and one trip camping. It was great having a little extra piece of mind knowing that I could always see my hotel room to keep an eye on things. Camping was a lot of fun as we could see all the critters at night outside of our tent! Was it a monster?! Nope, just a coon trying to steal my food. Pros - light weight, and really good video quality. The connection from the camera to my phone was super fast when fully connected. Night vision was really good as well. Cons - it's bigger than I expected. Audio quality was OK, but I feel like the speakers could be improved. Cell connection was spotty in certain areas, so keep that in mind. I highly recommend getting the tripod holder as well. Makes it much easier to attach it to things wherever you are. I received my Arlo Go in exchange for an unbiased review.

    Off-grid must have

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This was the most cost effective means that I have found to monitor my off-grid property. Keep in mind, the cameras communicate via cellular carrier not satellite (my options were AT&T or Verizon). So, if you don't receive cellular service on your phone, you probably won't receive it on the camera either. That having been said, where I have the cameras set up is on the edge of cellular service. Most of the time it works. But, there are other times, not so much. I've had the cameras for a little over 2 years now. Because it is an off-grid set up, I match the cameras to the Arlo solar charging panels. The property is in south Florida along the beach and the equipment is exposed to the direct Florida sunshine and salt water spray all day. The video is exceptional. Not very good for distance, even when you zoom in. But, overall the equipment works as well as I had hoped. Because of the harsh conditions, I have had to have a few items replaced. But, I am on the service contract plan with Verizon and replacement is quick and easy. Thank you Arlo for providing this valuable item for us off-grid, non-internet users.

    So Far, So Good

Reviews on this item seems split but so far, I’m having a pleasant experience with the product. I purchased this camera directly through my mobile carrier, Verizon. The item arrived ready to go with some issues arising during setup, but I just performed a hard reset on the camera and haven’t had any issues since. Item is as described. I currently have the camera setup in one of my storage units for extra security and it’s been working just fine for the week that I’ve had this product. It is expensive though and you have to pay for data services through your mobile carrier too, but I justify the costs by the security and protection that is provided to me by this camera operating on battery through LTE. Looking to challenge the camera when I take it out to some National Parks for a few camping trips in the upcoming weeks.

Would give it 5, but initial set up was horrible

When I first got the camera for our home construction site, I thought 15 minutes a month would be ok. It’s not, with 15 min, you can only spend 30 seconds a day to see what the construction site looks like. And when your 15 min are up, like in 4 days, you can’t reset the time, or even pay for more minutes. Horrible! But, since I called Arlo support, and complained, something happened. By the way, call Arlo support early in the morning, say 8am, to get a Arlo Go expert. Any other time, you will be put on call back list, for the Arlo Go expert. What happened, was that Arlo devised a new plan, which forced me to cancel my original 15 min plan, to a get the 120 min plan. With the 120 plan, I can now monitor the construction site, without concern of running out of minutes. I must say, one of the Arlo support expert, from Arlo Go, was very patient with me. I had thought I purchased a high tech pice of junk, and was ready to return it, or consider this a expensive lost cause, one I would feel a horrible pain for years and years to come. But the support staff was patient with me, and as I was preparing to hang up in frustration, she said, let’s cancel your original plan completely, and reset the camera with new account numbers (from Arlo). New account, like totally new. Having to re-dictate the camera serial numbers to the support personal. Opening a new account changed everything. I have been using the camera now for over 6 months, without any problems. I can see the construction site clearly during the day, and at night. At night, when the camera is on a high pole, the infrared LED, lights up the night. When mounted on a wall, I remotely, turn off the cameras infrared LED, to reduce glare from bouncing off the wall, into the camera’s lens. When I get a motion alert, I can speak from the camera, and alert suspicious individuals, that their under video surveillance. My voice can be heard 25 yards away (had to do this just one time so far). I can hear sounds on my cell phone, more than 50 to 60 yards away, using the internal speaker inside the camera (70 yards away if it’s a large vehicle). Nice system, when you have the minutes. Would recommend, using Arlo’s (at&t) largest minutes plan.

    Decent for limited cellular cameras

The camera works ok. The solar panel does not keep the camera charged, it will try to maintain the charge. The camera overheats in Phoenix, AZ. The skins make it overheat faster. The camera mounting options are limited even with standard 1/4-20 screw hole. The camera can't rotate 90 degrees. The camera is limited to 720p which makes it hard to make out detail at a distance. The motion sensitivity works ok at best. I have two of these with Verizon cellular.

    Arlo, or Barfo?

I own 5 of the original Arlo cameras and I have an Arlo app. Prior to my wife and I going on vacation to England and Scotland, I installed the original Arlo cameras at our ranch where we have internet through a wireless tower about 4 miles away. The setup was painless and I was stunned at how good the original Arlo cameras were in not only detecting movement at our ranch in a rural area, but the clarity of the images I saw even while on a tour bus that had wifi as we were traveling to Stonehenge from London. How disappointed I am today as I've been fighting the Arlo Go and trying to get it set up on another property we have with 4 bars of LTE service. The Arlo app keeps stating "SIM card not found" and the Arlo Go is pre-installed with a SIM card. I've built and flown my own FAA approved and inspected airplane, but I can't "fix" this worthless Arlo Go camera because it fails to recognize it's own pre-installed SIM card. The Arlo support website was worthless as well. No chat available and so I tried calling the number for support. On hold for a very long time and the battery in my cell phone went dead! Back it goes the Arlo Go to Best Buy for a refund.

    Offline Often or Broken

Buy the "Arlo Mobile" version at your own risk. Customer service was beyond unhelpful. We were told first that we needed to hard restart the camera in the field when it went offline. If it runs out of data/minutes the camera goes offline. Then told we only needed to call customer service for a work-around to reset after spending hours driving to reset. When the camera moved locations it stopped working. We were sent a new camera that also didn't work in any location. Now we've been told we need to buy a new sim card, not from Arlo, but from AT&T.

Worked for a year and then the signal failed. It was not moved, it just suddenly dropped from 3-4 bars to 2. No explanation, and no help from Netgear. A complete waste of money.
