I had bought this on DVD, but after upsizing my TV from a 26" to a 46", the DVD picture quality wasn't cutting it. The blu-ray is splatteriffic madness, great mastering quality. Worth the upgrade with a larger TV, and a deal on sale. The show itself is great, campy gory fun, stoopid humour, and stylized action on par with earlier Evil Dead movies. Nice to see how the producers / directors / writers imagination stretches the Evil Dead mythology over a season of no-holds-barred TV. Looking forward to Season Two!!!

I liked this series so much. It's got everything I like in tv/movies: good story, good music(all classic rock, 60's 70's and even early 80's) and good quality of filming like video and audio quality both. I thought the series was so good, it made me go watch the original movies again which I never liked and now enjoy. Some may think the humor is lame in both the old movies and this series but, I think it works for them. I only wish either that they were longer episodes or more of the 30 min episodes.

This show is awesome, if you are a fan of the Evil Dead trilogy you will love this show. Bruce Campbell is in great form as Ash and has not missed a beat, older but not wiser but still knows how to deal with the deadites. He is assisted by a great supporting cast headed by Dana DiLorenzo, Jill Marie Jones and Lucy Lawless (must have rough working these three gorgeous ladies) and Ray Santiago, who almost steals the show as Pablo. This show works for fans and non fans alike because it is so much fun.

This show is for those of you who saw the Evil Dead remake and said to yourself "Yeah, I don't care about these characters. Where is Ash?" It adds perfectly to the already established history of the perennial screw-up, Ashley J. Williams, and his continuing adventures to destroy the Necronomicon and hopefully fix past mistakes. You will laugh, you will cringe, but most of all, you will have a great time watching this series. Warning: You will get bloody on this ride.

There's weirdness in the Evil Dead universe, (or universes?) as the overall story seems to stem from Evil Dead 2 territory, while somehow ignoring events from Army of Darkness. "S-Mart" is now "Valu Stop" and all flashbacks of old footage stem from the aforementioned sequel (or zany slapstick remake of the original). Ash is back, and paired with some new deadite-slaying cohorts from his underachieving Valu Stop line of work, he sets off to undo his accidental summoning of evil spirits (to impress a chick, of course). In doing so, they confront a series of added challenges-- and to avoid anything too spoilery, suffice it to say that it is done with the same groovy marriage of gore and tomfoolery that any fan of the franchise has come to expect.

he show is so fantastically well done, it was everything I could have ever wanted as a fan. They keep more to the style of Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Even though there's some cgi, the action is there along with Ash being his goofy self. They don't have the rights to AoD, but they make rereferences to AoD where they basically give the finger to Universal by being similar, yet different so they don't get sued for copyrights. It is a clever well done show, and any negative reviews you see are just probably people that aren't happy it wasn't exactly the same as the movies. It is fantastic. I watched the show as it aired, and the end of every episode left me wanting more. I can't wait till season 2 finally airs!!!

Am a huge evil dead fan owning the trilogy in numerous formats from the gold platter and blood red goodness of the very limited laser discs to the exclusive Dead to Darkness cut of all three films incorporating all deleted scenes and endings into a six hour groovy extravaganza. So when I heard that they were releasing the first season on blu ray I was hyped for it and able to snag it on Black Friday for $10.00 was a deal to good to pass up.

With a caveat. It's in 7.1 surround sound so if your setup is dated like mine, the sound will be really loud on some scenes and then the spoken audio will be hard to hear. This is NOT good for when there's jump scares, which there are many, MANY of. I recommend this series if you have a surround system to discern the channels. 2.0 setups will have a harder time. The show itself is cheesy and violent, with good production value. It doesn't take itself serious, just like the classics with Campbell. So if your and Army of Darkness fan and love all the Evil Dead movies, you owe it to yourself to get your feet wet with this first set.

I am a huge fan of the "Evil Dead" series, and so I was immensely excited to watch "Ash vs Evil Dead"! The first season absolutely blew me away! The wonderful humor and gory action in the series is certainly present in this series! Bruce Campbell once again brings his A game as the iconic Ash, and the rest of the cast delivers amazing performances! Longtime fans of the series will fall in love with "Ash vs Evil Dead"!

This first season is everything I've wanted in regards to a return to the Evil Dead universe. Bruce Campbell comes back to the role that made him a geek icon and it's like he never left. This first season of the show is hilarious, gory, stylish and over-the-top in every way. It's a perfection continuation of the Evil Dead storyline that gets away with "murder" literally in every episode with it's over the top gory mayhem.

Evil Dead is a classic story, and it brought me much joy when they announced they were bringing a new story out with the original Evil Dead story line. Bruce Campbell is the definition of awesome in this tv show. Ash vs Evil Dead is really good if you are a fan of the original movies. Even if you're not, give this a shot if you like action horror movies/tv shows or have never experienced that genre before.

I love Evil Dead and own multiple versions of 1,2, and Army of Darkness. Ash is awesome and has some of the best lines in cinema. When I heard about Ash vs Evil Dead it was a sure thing I'd be watching. I was nervous about 30 minute episodes but it actually works. The show has great special effects, story and or course Ash being Ash. I cannot wait for season 2 and hope it keeps running for years to come!

Fans of the direction Sam Raimi took The Evil Dead franchise in Army of Darkness will love what the creative talents behind this series do with Ash and the dark forces that oppose him. The short features on the Bluray are both informative and engaging, and the commentaries aren't bad either. I suspect the rewatch value of this collection of episodes is quite high.

I don't have Starz so I was excited to see that Ash vs the Evil Dead was available on blu-ray. The show is hilarious and a worthy successor to Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are involved and Bruce Campbell produces in addition to starring. The image quality on the set is very high and the sound mix is better than the original films.

Bruce Campbell you almost never can go wrong with - but statement even more matters when it's his character Ash from the Evil Dead movies. It's as campy as ever. Over the top even more so. It's classic stuff that only Campbell can deliver. A bit too much foul language for my taste and I personally think it does take away from the greatness of the show. I don't think you need non-stop foul mouth dialog to make a entertaining sequence. But it seems to be the "in" thing now-a-days. You MUST watch the original Evil Dead movie (the 1980's one) before watching this TV series.

Ash is back! Bruce Campbell returns as one of the most baffoonishly handsome heroes to ever battle the forces of evil. The series is scary, funny and inventive. It's as if the forces of Campbell, Raimi and Tapert took their beloved trilogy of Evil Dead films and blended them into the most memorable and enjoyable television series in years!

I love this show. It manages to be gory, scary and funny all at the same time. The show is obviously based on the movies with Bruce Campbell returning as the Ash Williams. His character is such a jerk, but a lovable jerk that you root for. If you enjoyed the movies then this series is definitely for you. Bravo Sam Raimi.

Ash Williams is back & better than ever. If you love or even like the Evil Dead films, you'll enjoy Season 1 of Ash vs. Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell is awesome, as usual and leads a great team of co-stars including Lucy "Zena Warrior Princess" Lawler. The only down side...we have to wait a year until Season 2 is on blu ray.

I wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away by how well the Evil Dead universe translated to a weekly tv show. Tone-wise, it is definitely more in-line with Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness than the original Evil Dead film. As for technical merits of the Blu-ray, the video, audio, and extras are all top-notch.

I got this on a Black Friday sale i think haha...but i was going to buy it anyways...so i am happy i did. I did watch these as they were first run on Starz...but i had to have more Evil Dead story to watch whenever. If youre reading this, you probably already know what it is, so just buy it already!!!
