The case arrived broken but the disc was still intact. It was too much of a hassle to return it.

If you liked the first AC game don't even finish reading this review - go out and buy ACII right now! In all seriousness this game takes everything that Assassin's Creed did well and made it better, then took everything that the first game fell short on and went well above and beyond the improvements necessary. The result is a stunningly beautiful game that is easy to pick up and get completely and totally addicted to. The story is very compelling in ACII, and your character is a bit more robust. The voice acting is really quite good, and the cut scenes are even better than in the first. Apart from looks the game delivers on several other levels, though. The controls have been refined from the first game, the combat is a bit more challenging, and the environment seems to be more interactive and open. In addition you can finally get in the water without desynchronizing! Simply following the storyline provides many hours of gameplay, but all the extras are what makes this game well worth the purchase. Much like in the first game you have items to find, but there are also puzzles you can solve to unravel part of the mystery behind Abstergo, and even property management that increases your income. If you invest enough effort into the property at the offset money becomes no object and you'll always have the best weapons and armor available.

assassins creed II is overall a great game. it has good graphics, the length is pretty good, and the excitement and challenge top the charts. although it is a very interesting game, i highly recommend you beat the first one or get a good knowledge of the story line first. otherwise, you may not understand the game at all. the gameplay is some of the best i have seen. from the vast and detailed cities, to the down and dirty fighting, this game has it all. it even includes leonardo de' vinci in it! from assassinations, to hidden pistols, this will keep you hooked for hours. the fighting scenes themselves can be hard. with more intelligent gaurds, you will have to hone your skills, practice your moves, and perfect your timimg. from assassinating a guard or two, too facing down gruops of 20 guards, you will need to use your whole arsenal. overall, i give this game 10 out of 10 stars.

Assassin's Creed 2 surpasses the original

This game is a great leap forward for the series and probably the first time I can truly say I've enjoyed a sequel much more than an original. The story truly continues from where the first game left off, answers the questions from the first game up front and leads you into a new storylne very appropriately, while still leaving you wanting to know more about the story of the character you are playing. The controls are much improved from the first game, the combat is much better and more adaptive than the original, and the side challenges and achievements are actually worth something to your character and the storyline (not just miscellaneous fluff like the flags in the first game).

If you liked the first Assassin Creed then you are going to love this one. The total game creates this wonderful cohesive world that is expanded more on than the first game. Using a in game wealth system aka the Villa the player will make it an effort to get every item, equipment, etc that could possibly used towards improving the villas worth. While the fighting have been improved on its still kinda annoying with the introduction of new weapons and upgrades it makes it more easy to stomach. Even with its flaws and glitches if the player is patience with getting through the very beginning of the game you will be rewarded with one of the best game experiences of 09.

This is a great sequel to the first game, but totally passes it in level of fun. Tons of new weapons, fighting styles, and enemies make the fighting better, especially with the ability to taunt them :). Ezio is faster than Altaïr, both running and climbing, making those sync points fly by. The game is no longer repetitive, and the slick graphics make it even better. One more thing, EZIO CAN SWIM!!

Assassin's Creed 2 is a great game, and its better than anything i thought ubisoft could do. There maybe be some problems with the game in the challenge and length. I say the length because i know alot of people just try to follow the main storyline and don't try to do any of the extra events. I say the challenge because once you get every move down you basically just walk up to someone and their dead in less then a second, which i've played and seen this happen when you get surround by a group of gaurds and then like one swift move and almost everyone is taken out? It makes no sense. But overall this game is great! I would recommend this game to everyone who has an 360 or PS3.

I enjoyed AC so much i would just run around on the rooftops for hours i mean how fun is that parkour in rome! that is freaking sweet! This game is even better than the first there are a few flaws in the game but they arent even noticable for the average gamer. The story is compelling and original the missions are always fun and challenging, but the graphics and the gameplay are what makes the game top notch. Seriously the best part is running on rooftops. its not like prince of persia where the running/jumping mechanics are tediouos and annoying. THis game is just a lot of fun! and it takes a very long time to get old. You have to play it just to try it out, but buy the first one first it only takes about 7 hours to beat and then you can start on this one! And AC3 is going to be really cool with the onlie feature any gamer could appreciate! Check it out!

Great game. Way better then the first.

This is an excellent game. I like it better then the first. The first was very repetitive and later in the game you could not walk 10 feet before getting attacked by the guards. This time it is so much better. First you can now bring your notoriety down so guards will not attack you all the time. You can rip down wanted posters, bribe heralds, or kill politicians. When you unlock the level in the game you can start to rebuild your family villa. The small town and home looks very dark and dingy when you get there. The more money you get from missions and treasure boxes you can take that money and put it to the up keep of your villa. This is fun to do but it is not going to affect the story if you skip it. The town will start to give you discounts on weapons, armor, etc. It will also start to generate more money for you that you will be able to collect and spend on those things. Finding assassins tombs is fun too. You will find them on the map but have to find the secret entrance and then have to go through the building or tomb to find the resting place of the assassin. Finding all of these will allow you to unlock Altair's armor from the first game. These are just a few of the great things about the game. I recommend picking it up. Just a great story game that I am still working on to finish.

    A great sequal!

I just want to get this out of the way. I didn't like the first assassins creed. It was incredibly repetitive and boring to me. After repeating the same play cycle twice I got frustrated with sitting on benches and listening to boring conversations. So much so that I returned the game to get whatever I could out of it. How surprised I was then to find out how fun the sequel was. Assassins creed 2 is a great example of how a company fixes their mistakes from their first attempt. This game is exciting and the missions are varied. Yeah, you kill and kill and kill but the ways the game sets you up to do it is awesome. I love that there are different mission varieties as well to keep the game fresh. The story is great as well. I really enjoyed the combined story of Ezio and Desmond. I was always wanting to know what happened next. Another big complaint I had about the first game was the stupidity of the enemies. I would just get a huge bounty then wait for a crowd of soldiers to crowd around me. One at a time they would strike at me. I would just counter and immediatley kill them. They just continued to do that until I had killed them all. I didn't find it fun. In this one however there are many enemy types. Some have heavy armor. Some have spears. Some have knives and are incredibly quick. They still arent all that intelligent but they definitely mix things up a bit and make it a challenge. The combat is also improved and much more fun to utilize in this game. I did like the visuals in the first game and this one is no different. The massive city you navigate is very detailed and fun to look over from a high perch. The only small complaint I have is that the game did start to get a little repetitive with some of the missions be a bit too similar but overall it is a very fun game. If you liked the first game then you will love this sequal. If you didn't like it like me then still give this one a shot. It is a much better game.

Much better than the first Assassin's Creed game. starting as a man named Ezio Auditore, newly found out he is an assassin. shortly in the first couple of mission's a conspiricy evolves and u now seek vengance on the one's who have done what has been done to your family, thruout the game, unlike the first, u can hire groups of men, or woman to follow you around to either distract, fight or lure away the guards from a spot, also u meet some new friends that u later find out play a big role in your life, Ezio meet's leonardo divinci in the game who upgrades your hidden blade, modifies it to give you 2, 1 poisen blade and a gun, also the sword, short blade and throwing knives are the same except u can buy different weapons, and armor. the assassin tomb's are fun to go around in, the are challenging yet exciting, overall the graphics are AMAZING the game play is great tho i do think it culd have been more challenging tho. i HIGHLY RECCOMEND buying this game.

this game is a very good game. This game easily beats assassins creed 1 because you don't start out as an adult with an objective to kill certain targets. Instead you start out as a baby and live to be a man. eventually you set out to protect your family and as far as i got in the game you renovate your city. I think this game is a must buy for reasons such as, you can buy potions to heal yourself or get a doctor to heal you, and you can also buy weapons and armor. as far as fighting there are new moves. A very cool part of the game is that you can have 1 hidden blade in each hand so that way you can walk up to 2 guards and stab them in the back of their neck or head. if not equipped with a weapon you can steal a weapon from a guard once equipped with the skill. if you don't have this game BUY IT NOW!!!

Above and beyond the first game

Assassin's Creed II is a huge step up from the first game. It gets rid of the required monotonous gameplay aspects and gives some more variation. I felt the animations and voice acting were a step above the last game and the beginning tutorial sequences and storyline helped to get you more intertwined with Ezio and his motivations. The fighting system is updated a bit to include various weapons that you can use - whether you bring them to the fight or steal your opponents weapons. However, the general rule of waiting and countering to kill your enemies still holds true in this game. It can get a little old, but it's still good time.

Assassins Creed series has yet to disappoint me in any way shape or form. The first game of the series set up the sequel in such a great way. Graphics are tremendous, and gameplay is incredible. Patience is needed a little bit to begin the game, but its only because its needed to set up the storyline and give the player a sense of whats happening. This is a game that every person should play! You will not be disappointed with your purchase as it holds hours upon hours of gameplay including a free roam feature which expands the game further. This game I would consider to be up there with Modern Warfare 2

This game is by far one of my favorites this year I didn't even look too much in to whats new in the game Online or anything before it came out all I needed to know is that it was Assassins Creed 2!! The Good - About everything in this game is great from the story to the missions to Ezio himself, this game just keeps you moving threw the story seamlessly. The graphics are great too all of the buildings in the game are beautiful and really take you back in time. Also the combat is greatly refined with plenty of new moves and awesome counter moves to keep fighting fresh and fun even if it does discourage running and being sneaky sometimes because its so fun! Also when I said some of the fun side missions are gone I didn't mention that they are replaced by even funner missions that are less repetitive I just miss helping city folks guards are badgering. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that everything that made the first one repetitive is either gone or refined so its always fresh!! Game gets an A in my opinion. The Bad - Theres not really much bad, aside from a few small glitches here and there and the level design sometimes permits you from doing something you usually can do in the game. I have had two occurrences were I should be able to do something in the game that I could not and it was kind of frustrating, One was a jump strait up to a wood stump that was impossible without a wall jump I hadn't even learned yet (Dream Sequence) The second one was a part of the second to last Assassins Tomb were you should be able to land or hang on to this line that was impossible to do because it would greatly shorten your time to get to an area, which really was just a small level error but it threw me off for 10 minutes or so. Besides that the games fairly flawless, the only other gripes with this game I had at all is the fact that guards still wait to engage sometimes in battle like the first Assassins Creed and also I had an issue with the hang glider but I don't want to spoil anything on that one. All in all - The shortcomings which are very rare in this game make little to no difference in its enjoyability when you compare it to all the great things about this game including how massive the whole game is which makes it definitely worth the $60 price tag. Its a blockbuster game that is not to be missed if you are a fan of action and story please don't miss out on this game!!!

This is a great sequel to a good game. Assassins Creed I was a game with a great story and fun things to do..but it does get repetitive. Assassins Creed II is even better, with more to do, more to see, and more to learn about the Assassins Creed universe. There is Downloadable Content for this game also, which expands the games life (so to speak).

I beat everything in it and i must say i was completely satisfied with it. Just how it picks up right where the first one ended and brings you into a whole new storyline. Also the fact you can swim, got a pistol, some smoke bombs, double blades, more ways to assassinate people. The only thing i did not like about it was when you purchase new weapons you can't use the weapons you had before. Other than that this game is awesome. If you remotely liked the first one i strongly recommend pickin this one up.

I just bought this game recently and I can't get away from it! I'm a huge fan of "open world" or "sandbox" style video games and this one, for me, stands close to the top!!! I love the story taking place in the late 1400's, it's a time period not usually depicted in video games and the graphic design and gameplay really give you a great and realistic feel of Italy in that time period. The storyline is excellent, great characters, beautifully written with emotional intensity. Of course combat variety really gives the game a powerful edge. And the abilty to free run and explore makes the game more accessable because you don't have to follow the story everytime you play, you can do side mission or explore the land... up to you!!! Overall, excellent game! 5 stars all the way!!! Can't wait for the next one coming soon!!! Highly recommended!

This is my first time into this series, I did not play AC1. I decided to get AC2 since the story sounded interesting and everyone said 2 was way better than 1. The graphics are stunning. The cities are enormous. There are enough side missions to keep you occupied for a very long time. Or if you just want to explore the cities causing mayhem along the way, you can do that too. The storyline missions aren't just a run and gun type mission. They take planning. You can't just bust up into the place to assassinate your target and expect to survive long. This is definitely a must have game and I look forward to Revelations coming out soon.
