Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about Assassin's Creed III's engaging gameplay and captivating storyline. Many also praised the action-packed sequences and the enjoyable naval missions, offering a refreshing change of pace. However, some players found the controls to require adjustment, and reported encountering some technical issues. Despite these minor drawbacks, the positive feedback on the core gameplay elements suggests a generally well-received title.

AC3 just doesn't hold up to the standards built by the previous assassins creed games. That being said, the product itself works just fine.

    Ignite the Revolution

As a fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, I am more than ready for AC3 which will bring a story that will be bigger and better than those of the previous installments. The new assassin is half Native American and half British, you are the warrior son Conner who will not allow the brink of the American revolution to threaten his clan. AC3 brings an all new gaming engine ANVIL NEXT that not only brings about new graphics and AI technology, but an overall better playing experience with things like dynamic weather, seasons, and time, that all affect the world around you in its own way. A dramatically expanded combat and stealth system follows with new weapons and ways in which to take out your enemies. With its own take on the past, AC3 will bring an experience more alive than any history book ever could.

The final chapter ruins the whole story

Despite frustrating control issues, AC2 was one of the best video games ever made. The franchise has been steadily declining since then, but the engaging story and fascinating conspiracies made play worthwhile. AC3 has very little to offer in that regard. While there is novelty in the new character, new setting, and new engine, the story is such a plodding amateurish dud, the combat system ham-handed and under-realized, and the game so full of bugs, that it nearly negates the entire series. The final chapter in a series should be the climax, not a letdown. Of nearly fifty hours of game play, I can honestly say I enjoyed less than one. Huge disappointment.

Definitely my favorite game in the series although it left me wanting in certain areas. Small details like fully upgrading your ship to find no more naval missions to do or going from a character as brilliantly entertaining as Ezio to one who drags in some parts of the story like Connor. Despite that, Connor brings a new perspective to the series as a benevolent spiritual man. Haytham Kenway shined as the most thrilling new character in the game for me. The graphics are amazing and as is the voice acting. The music wasn't as beautiful to me as Revelations or Brotherhood but the main theme and a few other themes really shined. The combat wasn't too difficult but some stealth parts offered a fun challenge along with naval missions. The storyline was great as always but the end of Desmond's part of the story was disappointing and confusing. It did offer great potential for the future games however. The game play is incredible with tree running and hunting being so fun to partake in. There are some hiccups with the new free running system that is noticed during chase sequences where Connor can be halfway up a building without you even desiring that to happen. That being said, it is an exhilarating and fast pace change.I loved the plethora of side quests and the amazing combat system. Human shields are a lifesaver! I would have liked some Thief Club missions instead of only challenges as the other guilds delivered on that. Besides that, the new naval missions were very fun and as was the Captain Kidd missions. I only wish there was maybe a free roaming option for the player to sail around in the Aquila. Full synch was frustrating at times due to some annoying optional objectives such as staying undetected on two patrolled boats without a checkpoint between the two. It's not impossible but it is a tad annoying. Besides these few issues, I found this game to be incredible and warmed up to Connor towards the end sequences. It is definitely a must have for fans of the series so far and a great game to start from due to the excellent recap sequence the game has. Also, for series fans, Desmond gets to shine more on his own with his missions during the present day. He finally puts those bleeding effect skills to full use. All in all, I was very satisfied with this product and all the good change it offered to the series. I haven't played much of the multiplayer but I played Deathmatch and Wolfpack. Deathmatch was suspenseful as you are being pursued while you pursue a target of your own. Wolfpack is a great idea but it rewards stealthy kills with more time but many matches boil down to frantic running which makes the matches short sometimes. I'm not a big multiplayer fan for this game but for those who love the multiplayer in the other games, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with this one!

I bought the game because it was recently announced as backwards compatible. When I load it into my Xbox One it asked me to insert "Disc 1" (yes, I'm using the first disc) or gives me a "taking too long to load" error. Next time I'll follow my gut and buy it online in the Microsoft store

I was super excited for this game since I played all the other AC games. For the most part it exceeds my expectations, but there are a few things that really dissapointed me. 1. No hidden locations, which is real sad because this was where you saw the maker's creativity and it was like a small puzzle, and usually at the end you got the best armor in the game, which by the way there is no armor in this game, just outfits. 2. So many tiny glitches 3. The ending is actually really inconclusive and seems to set up a cliff hanger although there is no way there can be another one, it appears 4. After finishing the game, people still refer to the soldiers as redcoats and lobsterbacks even though they are colonial and you can start riots which is weird. 5. The fighting style is much different, which isnt a big deal, but it was good in the previous games and did not require fixing. 6. The last thing is that sometimes Conor doesnt put his hood up. It just doesnt look like assassins creed with no hood up, come on ubisoft 7. one more thing is that it really does start slow. The first 5 sequences are pretty boring There are several improvements, however 1. The frontier is amazing, and the hunting is pretty cool 2. You can access your assassins guild from anywhere anytime 3. Tons of side missions, forts to conquer, assassin contracts, etc. 4. The history side is pretty accurate i suppose

The first AC game I bought was this. Only because of the Revolutionary War. Which is why I wanted this. Come on this game looked great. Which the story in my opinion is good, long, thorough. I don't get why people complain. Now a day's story, or campaign's are short. I think the long story is then worth the investment. The game bugs, when being chased by red coats, sometimes you climb walls. It get's annoying as all h*ll. But it's not perfect. But the game is largely open world. It has fun gameplay, cool story, good morals, etc. I like this game a lot. It does take time to grow on you though!!!!!

First of Huge AC fan, Connor was no Ezio but came close. maps and scenery were quite stunning. The thing I loved most about this game was the revenge aspect that you and Connor go through, all new combo and battle controls that prove more smooth than previous games (and the last games were smoooooooth) big fan of the hatchet and ability to climb and move about trees. Native American's were a proud and impressive part of our american history and this was a amazing story told about our revolution through a this americans eyes. Takes a while to become Connor but its still exciting and well worth it. Best of luck to my assassin friends out there. See you on the high seas next.

Well, I've not yet to beat this game. But irregardless I'm far enough along too say that this is almost as great as the initial release. It's so in depth, and reminds of the 1st Assasins creed. In an honest gamers opinion, They were getting a tad repetitive and tedious with brotherhood and revelations. It was almost losing it's flare that sparked a craze over this game that was instilled in the first two releases. As you progress In this game it keeps you drawn in and keeps your attention. Forget being bored playing this, and forget hanging outside. This game will keep you indoors for a good while. 10/10

Assassins Creed III is gorgeous! The story is amazing... The missions are fun but can feel a bit repetitive... It's such a great atmosphere, being in america during the revolution. The game plays smoothly and it has the gorgeous graphics and audio!. If you are a fan of any Assassins Creed games or if you've never tried this series, this game is just amazing and you have to get it!

Happily, one doesn't have to be familiar with the previous AC games to enjoy AC3. It should appeal to most anyone, except maybe the hard-core shooter gamers. I am doing side-missions as I go, stalling on completion because I don't want to finish! I think one can complete the main game and then do side missions, however. I'm in the middle of the side naval missions now and they are very much fun. If you've ever wished you could captain a well-armed Tall Sails ship and chase down frigates and a Man-of-War or two, this is your game. Or, while hunting prey in the forest, you become the prey of ferocious predators. Maybe you'd like to find the right people to establish a successful trading village in the wilderness. And, of course, training your own bunch of assassins. I like the main character. He has a story of great stoicism and subtlety, a Native American by upbringing, half-British by birth, caught in a tidal wave of Europeans, flooding his world with betrayal, and treachery. His enemies are shifting and everywhere, each sure of his rightness and convictions. The game play controls were harder than expected, and took awhile to get used to. The character can do a lot of different actions: climbing, hiding, sneaking, free-running (in trees, too), so can unexpectedly move in a way you didn't anticipate. This can be really funny once you get used to it. The game has been patched (in December), and while I've noticed some small glitches, nothing game-breaking, and not nearly what I'd expect for the huge world. The difficulty level is pre-set and unchangeable. I have noticed that if played in a barge-in-and-kill-em-all style, it is easy enough to breeze through combat and the missions. But it becomes more difficult as one attempts a more subtle approach. I think this somewhat hidden aspect is why some reviewers found the game disappointingly easy. It's as if the developers didn't want people to race through it.

    Refreshing Changes to Franchise

This game brought some great changes to the Assassin's Creed franchise. The story was interesting and so was the added wildlife/frontier elements. I did encounter a few bugs while playing this game (examples: terrain not loading correctly or enemies being immune to attacks). Did not try the multiplayer..
