Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the superb performance, excellent graphics capabilities of the RTX 2060, and the fast SSD storage of this 15.6" laptop. However, some users have noted that the battery life is relatively short and the laptop can get quite warm during use, especially while gaming. The cooling system is a point of concern for some customers. Many find the overall value and performance to be excellent despite these drawbacks.

Had this computer or about a week. In terms of gaming, I can run most games at ultra or high and it runs well. My concerns are how hot it gets, the fans are not near the cpu and graphics card. There are no vents at the bottom, its all out the middle through the top. I am assuming the fans take the heat out through the sides, and front. There is also a vent on top by the screen. I was getting 90 degrees Celsius on both the cpu and gpu, I do not see this computer lasting long if it is always at that temperature for what this laptop is, a gaming one. I am pretty sure I updated everything and I was hitting a high temp. even with the fans at turbo. Battery life is almost non-existent. I get about an hour to max 2 hours without the battery. That is on normal computer use. The fans are loud when in performance and turbo but you should expect that with gaming laptops. The build is pretty sturdy, it feels like a normal computer with a topic of gaming aesthetic into it. The sound is pretty decent for what it is, if you want surround sound get a headset or headphones. This unit also has bluetooth. The screen is 120hz, which is pretty good combined with the graphics card, it serves well. I need to get the screen calibrated.

      Dear TXBlueLine92,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing high temperatures and battery issues with this laptop. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control, testing and inspections. What you've experienced was not intentional or representative of our brand. Your laptop has intakes on the bottom of the unit, and exhausts air to the rear and sides. This is mentioned in the manual on page 19 and the features page linked below. I recommend using the laptop on a hard, flat surface and propping it up slightly off the surface if possible for better air intake. There are internal heat pipes to transfer heat from the warmest components to the fans, the fans do not need to be located directly adjacent to the components for peak performance. Regarding your battery issue, I will forward your feedback to the Product team for review. If you have any general or technical questions, please email me at [email protected] and include case #N200508936 for reference.

      Thank you for choosing ASUS!

      Best regards,
      Lane

I got this laptop 3 days ago. It arrived fast and was easy to setup. I'm amazed at how much power they could cram into the tiny 15.6" frame! pros- -You have mid range specs for a gaming laptop, for UNDER $1000 -you have a durable, sleek, pretty looking laptop -you get a 120hz 1080p IPS panel for a display -It has RGB LIGHTING! -the trackpad is one of the better ones I've seen! -it keeps itself relatively cool while gaming -its fairly well built -the keyboard feels pretty dang good -the battery lasts as long as you need it to for web browsing and such (don't game while on battery power please lol) -its easy to just stow away inside your bag and take with you -it has upgradable storage! cons- -Its got a somewhat small display -limited IO, only two USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0, an ethernet jack and an HDMI port, and 3.5mm jack -it comes with a little bit of bloatware but that can be said with many laptops -I really can't find any more cons I would REALLY recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a sub $1000 laptop with an RTX 2060 in it! Its the cheapest laptop I could find with that in it and its a really great value for the money! It hits high 90's to 120FPS in most of the games I played on it so far and I'm sure it will last you for a while!

The ASUS 15.6" Laptop offers reliable performance with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 16GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. The 512GB SSD ensures efficient storage, and the Stealth Black design adds a subtle touch of style. A practical choice for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.

Overall it was a decent laptop but I had to return it due to a touchpad issue as well as it ran very hot Specs were good especially the rtx2060 video card but it was bottlenecked by the weaker Ryzen processor . Could have been a real winner especially for the price

Pro: 2060+good cooling system+3550H this laptop can handle most of AAAtitle with 60FPS, and consider of price, gaming performance and weigh is great. Con: battery, 3550H long runtime on battery is hard to expect on gaming laptop, even though it had short run time for regular web search and documentaction. Also 3550H is push to limit it self, sometime it laggy when you play CPU heavy program.

I am going to college for animation, and the programs that I am required to download and use can be hard on a computer or laptop. Especially, if I need 2-3 programs at any moment while I complete my assignments. My old laptop would slow down, but still allowed me to do what I needed to do. My last laptop got fried, and my husband picked this one. I was upset about this computer not having a touch screen feature, but I have no issues. I do need a computer stand, to make it easier for this laptop to cool down. I am using toy blocks and my computer rarely puts it's fan on high, which I have heard a few times. Especially, when am working, overall, it's nice, very smooth, I brought the open-box and save a few bucks and am very happy with his pick of a laptop. And the lit up keyboard really helpful, when I work during the night and sleep mode serves as a night light for my children at times.

Amazing laptop very upgradeable first has one stick of 16gb drr4 2400 mhz just have to buy a second stick which is 62 dollars or less which will make it 32 gb drr4 duel channel. Hard drive bay is empty so you can buy a solid state hard drive. I recommend SanDisk. Graphic card RTX2060 Which amazing for this laptop has ryzen 5 it is decent. 120 hertz display that is beautiful. Laptop has amazing cooling stays about 50 is to 60 ish. I recommend keep gaming laptops plug in at all times and invest in a cooling pad to put underneath your gaming laptop. This high mid level gaming laptop which you can upgrade very cheaply its a steal at 859.99 on sale. Online gaming like world of War craft, final fansty online or esport titles run them at high framerate smooth. This laptop best bang for your buck given you find this onsale.

I bought this computer a little over a month ago since working from home. I mainly use it for work purposes, especially plenty of Zoom meetings and multitasking. And the performance has been superb! I've use it for gaming on a few occasions, and it's been great! The only downside, and this is personal preference, all the ports are on one side. However, overall I highly recommend purchasing for the performance alone; whether that's using it for work, school or gaming it is worth the investment.

The processor is a little underpowered for the GPU, but it’s only noticeable at very high settings on a few newer games. The RAM upgrade is very easy and there is an open space for a 2.5 inch drive for extra storage.

It may increase to 4 or 5... BUT... I got those laptop to play a few games that my 6 year old Lenovo couldn’t handle, and the price seemed good. Anyway, it’s froze and shut down three times already... the right side of the laptop is extremely hot — trying a few fixes I found online... battery ran out after 1 hour of game play (battery was at 100% when I unplugged it after opening the box). I’m hoping maybe it needs some updates and it’ll be fine — doing those now. Out of the box however, I wouldn’t recommend.

I purchased this laptop due to the fact my old one was definitely no longer working properly. I upgraded from an Acer that was 5 years old and had an Intel Celeron processor and a dead battery. I was extremely impressed with how fast and easy to use this laptop was. I had some issues after updating windows where I was getting blue screen errors and had to factory reset it May 17th, however since doing that it has been perfect. Only 4 star review because I wish it had a little better battery life.

Bought to keep me busy while in bed after surgery. Ended up keeping it to play games and making beats with my MPC wherever. Battery is pretty much a few hours only. The Ryzen 5 and rtx 2060 run pretty much every game I own with only Dead or Alive 6 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint having issues. The mostly plastic build might bother some people but I use a USB mouse anyway.

A really nice computer once I got the driver's updated among other things. Out of the box it crashed repeatedly, required a bit more in depth fixing then I'm normally comfortable with but I got it there in a few days with liberal googling. Works great now, doesn't bog down like my old computer. Mostly using it for warcraft and movies and it does very good. Issue was definitely software based. Hardware is good if you can update it.

It’s good for the price and has of upgrade opportunities ( RAM and storage). It’s a bit bulky and does not have a good battery life. The fan is loud, but has settings to lower the speeds when not in intensive use. I was able to connect an older VR headset with the HDMI connection, newer VR models won’t work on this laptop.

Been having this laptop for almost a year now and even taken it while traveling. Its great, it keeps up with games like Halo: Master Chief Collection and Destiny 2. So if it can hold up with games like that pretty well then that's how you know its a nifty laptop. However it does not have the power to run AutoCAD nor Solidworks due to the CPU Speed of 2.10 GHz (It needs 3.7 GHz) You can customize the RBG Lighting to whatever you like within the Armory Crate App already installed (the most useful bloatware you'll find) Asus did a pretty good job with the design and the processing with the laptop, though my only other gripe is that the trackpad kinda stops working but you may have to hit the disable/enable trackpad feature to get it working when it gets spotty. Not much of a bad thing, more like a slight inconvenience for me. Overall its pretty great, despite that one issue if you're willing to look past it. But I'm willing to hang on to it as its pretty good little war machine.

Great computer for a great price. The laptop is very fast and runs well. The only complaints are the battery life has gone down noticeably the fans are loud and the computer disconnects from WiFi but the computer runs great. I always have my computer plugged in anyways and wear headphones so some of the problems are not a big deal.

Killer Cost Performance Overcoming a Few Glitches

Overall, it's a good machine with super cost performance. There's no machine that packs RTX 2060 at this price range. I play FFXIV almost exclusively on this machine, and Machine never goes beyond warm on surface (105F +/-) which is huge improvement from what I had before. This machine has more than enough to entry to mid level gamer, while being very portable to take to anywhere. Unfortunately, prices comes some sacrifices, none of which is showstopper but worth considering if you're shopping... 1. CPU - Ryzen 5 - is a little too weak to pull out the highest performance. Mostly OK, but when you're in Alliance Raid or on Mob Hunt it begins to show some slowness. Tolerable, but still annoying. 2. Keyboard Mostly very responsive, but one key ("Q") is slow to respond and I have to press a few times to get it work. Granted it's a key I barely use, but it shows some lack of precise finish and you may experience similar issue on a different key. 3. Ports Every port (3x USB, AC, HDMI, LAN) is on user's left, which may require some re-configuration depending on setup. Hope this review helps, it's a great computer for cost-conscious gamer.

I mean if your just a casual gamer it’s ok but it does crash every now and then. Not bad can get some decent frame rates but won’t blow you away. I’d say if your trying to spend less then a grand this is for you.
