I walk into Best buy Store looking for a high end computer that will allow me to play games but at the same time do my work. Almost impossible to find the perfect combination. When I found a good gamer laptop it was missing something that I really use for work "screen touch" .. then went I found a good one for work again it was missing something for gaming "Good Graphic Chip" ... Until a bestbuy employee point this one out. I love it ... I think this laptop is a perfect combination for both .. Illuminated key-board is a plus , plenty of memory 12GB and plenty of HDD space 2T.
can be used as a tablet also ..

I got this laptop as an open box and so far it's running well but it has a few flaws. It does everything I need it to for school and runs Steam games very well. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because #1, the power button is in the worst spot ever and had to change the settings to stop it from sleeping when I accidentally hit it (which happened like 30 times until I gave up). My last laptop's power button was a part of the keyboard so I never had that problem. The other issue...I'm not sure if it's the fact it's an open box or maybe a glitch.. but the sound sometimes crackles no matter the volume, which is irritating. I did read that other laptops of this model have had the same issue so that's something to be cautious of. Besides that it runs fast and smooth and does what I need it to.

I didn't know how i would like the new windows 10,but after getting to have some time with it ive noticed it is really smooth and the graphics card in this comp has no problem keeping up with minimal to no lag at all. thank you nvidia geforce 940M. as well i love how sturdy its built even considering its a 2 in 1. so far very happy and think asus did well with this one.

This computer nailed every feature I wanted. I would have given it 5 starts but one major thing that I hate. Putting the on / off switch right on the side where I happen to frequently grab the laptop to move it is ridiculous. I've been very frustrated to accidently shut the computer down many times in the midst of working. Another weird thing is I get a weird warning sometimes about the screen not responding and then it says it's recovered. Not sure what that's all about but if it wasn't for those two issues I'd say it was a great laptop.

I wasn't planning on buying this laptop cause I was actually looking for the Microsoft one or the Dell, but when I was checking out other laptops I found this Asus laptop and I am not a fan of Asus but the fact is, its a pretty good one and I do like it. Sometimes it runs slow but overall not a bad deal... :)

This computer is excellent. I was finally satisfied with this laptop purchase after shopping around for over a year and a half. This ASUS had everything I was looking for: a new, fast i7 processor, plenty of RAM, a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen, and a DVD drive. After a certain period of research, I was almost positive that I wouldn't be able to find all of those qualities in a laptop (especially for less than $1000!) and then I found this one! It had even more than I was looking for, actually. I was very impressed with the additional features of the 2 TB Hard Drive, the 2-in-1 capabilities, and the tough titanium build.
However, there are a few things that can be a bit annoying. The biggest of these issues is the power button. It is on the left hand side (actually on the side!!) of the computer, near the front, and I often end up hitting it with my hand if I pick up the computer to move it. It isn't really a big deal, because the button is automatically programmed to only put the computer to sleep and I can quickly and easily wake the computer back up and get right back to what I was doing, but it is enough of an issue that if I could re-design the layout, I definitely would. Another very minor issue is the speaker placement. They're on the bottom of the computer, along the front edge, and they're often muffled if I've just got the laptop resting on my lap like usual.
Other than that, I LOVE my computer and I believe it will perform very well for me anytime I need it to.

I went with this computer because it had all the features I wanted in a laptop. It is a 2 in 1, had a DVD drive which I do use, Nvidia Graphics Card, HUGE 2TB Hard Drive, good amount of memory, good battery life for a touch screen that is 15 inches (I have seen about 4-6 hours depending on use), and an Gen 6 i7 processor. It boots up fast for not having a SSD drive. Portable, I didn't go with a Gaming laptop because they are much heavier and I take this with me everywhere. So overall great for the price, I had a 10% off coupon so it was only $900. Newer parts, this model was just released last week of February 2016.
Only negatives to it are it does not have a M.2 SSD slot so your only option is to replace this huge hard drive which I don't want to do. And it doesn't look like you can expand the memory so you are stuck with only 12GB. Since this is a Best Buy only laptop it might be hard to get drivers for things if you want to dual boot or wipe the hard drive and start over.
Over all very nice for the price and for what it can do, I have had it just over 2 months now.

Nice laptop, like speed, takes a little time to get use to window 10. However updates will drive you nuts when it updates. Starts it without any notice and you wonder what is happening. Other than that hassle, love the laptop, great graphics.

The specs are impressive for the price I paid (it was on sale). I previously had the Asus Q500 which I loved, then bought the Asus Q552. I had to return that due to a hardware issue. It so happened the Q553 came out the day I returned it.
Since this has gotten some great reviews, I will only highlight a few things I found or reiterate what was already mentioned.
The positive:
For being thinner and lighter than the Q500, this feels solid. When closed, it is easy to carry in my hand. The 2 TB drive is nice, just wish it was faster. I would have paid more for a good size SSD.
The screen is bright and colors pop. The one downside, I’m a photographer and notice a reflection when processing darker photo’s in a well-lit room. It makes it a little harder to process with the distraction. This may be a problem if you do this sort of stuff and take the laptop on the road with you. 90% of the time I process in a darker room so it is not a huge deal.
I love the backlit keyboard. I will never buy a laptop without one. I can understand the comments of light bleed if you sit at a certain angle. This is not an issue for me.
I connected this to my 50” TV via HDMI. I was impressed with the resolution and clarity. Checked out several of my photos and found them to be crisp. My previous laptop, not so good.
I have not used it yet but, the Type C USB 3.0 port is a plus.
I’ve had this laptop for about 25 days now and use it extensively. I have not experienced any of the lag or sputter issues mentioned in other reviews as of today. I did update drivers off the Asus web site. The one side note to this, I did notice that the machine would act a little strange (not very often) and found it to be an issue with Windows updates downloading or waiting to be installed. I had an issue with the machine once so I restarted. A Windows configuring message popped up. I found this to be the case the few times I did have an issue.
I disabled the touchscreen since I probably won’t use it very often so no comment on that. Same for the touchpad since I prefer a wireless mouse.
The not so positive:
The DVD drive is pretty flimsy and hard to close. If I used it a lot, I’m afraid I might end up breaking it at some point. You might want to look at that if you plan on using the drive a lot. Since I won’t, it is a minor issue.
As pointed out in another review, the power button is just not in a good location. When moving the laptop or trying to close the DVD drive I end up hitting the power button. After a while you learn to watch for that.
The speakers are not the best and located in a bad spot under the front of the laptop. When typing, my arms cover the speakers muffling the sound a bit. Since I would use headphones most of the time, I don’t see this as a deal breaker.
All in all, this is one nice laptop. I do not have any regrets at all.

Had been needing a laptop for a few months when I finally got the funds for one. My wife had an ASUS and was completely hooked on the brand. My Best Buy has 2 ASUS's in stock, and I got the better one. Wasn't sure I'd need touch screen but believe they will all be touch screen soon.Fast, reliable, large memory, easy to use - zero complaints.

Coming from a laptop that had a dead battery and a cracked screen, simply having a great screen made me ecstatic. When I moved passed my elation I saw that the screen was absolutely beautiful and that the functionality of the touchscreen was great. With 2TB of space on top of my NAS system at home I never feel like I will run out of storage. This computer makes editing photos and videos a breeze which is great in my line of work. Aesthetically it looks great all together.
Some cons that I have, it seems like the CMOS battery is draining/dead as the time on my computer has some issues from time to time. My graphics card had to restart itself which was bothersome but quickly was back to normal. The power button on the side is odd, I have nudged it a couple times which has sent my computer to sleep, bothersome but easy to get over.

Love the touch screen and back light keys. Have older Asus without touch. Worst design is location of on/off button. Bought for speed update, graphic and screen but not yet tested out the speed with graphics. However is over all faster. Often the screen text size changes without knowing why. Computer has locked up 3 to 4 times and can't restart without many times on/off. Plan on keeping but not a perfect system. Only hope I get use to on/off button placement and that it don't keep locking up. Can't wait to try graphic or photo, vidio editing. This was an open box buy so didn't see prior reviews, bought because of price vs components. If you do this open box thing make sure you get compledent sales staff that tells you it needs to first go to the Geeks for set up, save you a return visit.

From what I've seen from my month of ownership, this is a high quality laptop. It is very sturdy, powerful, and has a lot of little things going for it.
Pros:
Power
Durability
Fairly compact
Good keyboard (easy to type + backlit)
Cons:
Heavy! But that's to be expected
The power button is small and right next to the volume toggle on the side of the shell. It is WAY too easy to hit the wrong button and put your computer to sleep accidentally.
Display driver fails a lot (maybe that's just for me?)
Two-in-one tablet feature is mostly useless -- this thing is heavy, you're never going to use it as a tablet. But the touch screen is still nice for some applications.

Overall it's been a nice machine so far. Had a couple little glitches. It got stuck in tablet mode once and I had to restart to get it back in normal mode and one other time I had a hard time getting it to wake up. When you flip the screen all the way around it is a little long and bulky to use comfortably as a tablet but the touch screen still works well and is a nice feature even in the laptop configuration. Still trying to get used to Windows 10. I wish that 7 was still an option.

It's a very nice laptop, but it has a few issues with it. The pros are obviously the touch screen and it's portable. It's fast, and appears to well made. My one gripe with this laptop is the on/off button location. Oh and when I swap from tablet mode to desktop mode some times the gpu crashes. But that's a driver issue. Still a solid buy.

Got this for my teen. Works great for Minecraft, CAD design, and internet research. Folded back into tablet mode while researching, she can keep it right on her open notebook when space is tight, to take notes. She has used it folded tent style for presentations, and regular laptop style for writing ang gaming. The internal DVD drive makes it useful on the go, and the backlit keyboard is helpful in the varied lighting. We are very happy with this machine, especially at the discounted open box price we paid.
Small negatives: The power button is in an odd spot on the side - too easy to accidentally hit when shifting the computer's position, but not a deal breaker. The power brick is also awkward - it is a large square that plugs directly into the outlets, and while narrow, sticks out very far. It may not fit in all spaces, and the weight of it would pull it out of any sideways oriented outlets.
My daughter also complains that notifications pop up from Asus that interrupt her work (or more problematically, her Minecraft games), but that may just be a Win10 thing she has to adjust the settings for.
Overall, very happy.
