I bought this computer as an open box, It has had problem since the beginning. I should have returned but I tried to stick it out. Since the day I brought it home it was slow and it takes forever to load (if it loads at all.) Bought it in April and by June it wouldn't work at all. We can't even log on now. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!

This was my first ASUS purchase and will be my last. The laptop ran slowly from the beginning. Login took forever and after 7 months, the hard drive had a complete failure. Warranty required sending the laptop to Kentucky for repair. I use this laptop for work and have been out of commission for a week and still waiting for it to return.

For some reason this computer is extremely slow at start-up and continues slow overall. In addition to that. This computer freezes up frequently--will not turn off, reboot, turn on or anything else. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase and wish I had gone with an Apple product.

We bought a Asus model for like $559. but after getting it home although we liked it, we decided we wanted a bigger screen, so we looked online at Best Buy and found a Asus Model we wanted.
The model Q525UA was the one we WAS gonna get for $1049.00. Even though we wanted to stay around the $800 price. So after an hour looking around the store, and finding that I would have to wait for the one we wanted due to being out of stock atleast a week, I asked if they had any open box Asus simular to what we were looking for. And man am I glad I did. they had an Asus Q524ua that had not even left the store. it was a display model that was on the shelf for 2 months. Though leary of how many people had played with it, I knew from experience that unless someone hit it with a hammer, it couldn't of been done much harm. So we compared the Q524 to the Q525, and the only difference was it was an i7 with 7th generation compared to i7 8th generation, and the ram was 12G compared to 16G. After talking with Sales associate, she said that wouldn't even be noticable for what my Wife and I will use it for, and keep in mind, we are musicians and use the laptop for recording purposes in our home recording studio.
all I can say is WOW, FLAWLESS, and SMOOTH RUNNING. We haven't even seen this thing LAG one time. We absolutely love this thing and only paid $749.00. So any of the negative reviews you read, they must have gotten a lemon, or just dont have the patience when you first fire it up, to let all the programs run, and let windows 10 update itself completely. I have a home ALL IN ONE HP that is 2 years old. its a great computer, never had a problem with it, and when I run a Speed test for my internet speed, the ALL IN ONE hits around 98-100 Mbps Download, and 4Mbps upload speed. My Asus Q524UA hits at 224Mbps dowload, and 11Mbps upload speed. Super lightening fast. I run these test on Speed Test . net
So sum it up, you cant go wrong with this laptop, not the best for High quality gaming, but I dont use it for that, I have a PS4 and a XBOX ONE for games. Thanks for Reading and go out and get one of these awesome laptops!

This laptop is slower than the one I gave my six year old to practice with. Totally disappointed. Constantly trying to update. Slow to even display typed letters. It’s so slow I can’t use it. 1,000 dollars wasted.

I bought this to replace my old Asus G71, not a great idea. It would not shut off, would not load programs and when it did it took 5 min, reminded me of my old IBM 486 computer. I could not use it do to these things.

Great 2-1 Laptop

This a great 2-1 laptop! I know there's some reviews discouraging other buyers by saying this computer is slow. The issue is there's a lot of windows updates with this computer from the setup, and it will take 3-4 hours. Even the second day I had some more updates and I was wondering why my hard drive was maxed. It's because windows was still trying to run more updates.
Once this done, it's an amazing laptop! The only real downside I see to it, is that the battery is only a little over 6 hours. Which isn't as good as other competitors, but they don't have the Ram and Storage capabilities or a full HD touchscreen display. This computer can be upgraded to 24 gbs of Ram and also upgraded to an ssd hard drive as well as an m.2 hard drive at the same time. I would suggest to replace the hard drive as it's not quick as an ssd drive. If you're getting this computer for $799 it's definitely worth it.

New computer that frequently will not recharge its battery. Plugged in not charging happens several times a week. Unplugging and replugging gets it to recharge for a short time, then repeats.

Avoid This Model

Let me start off by saying that I love Asus, I've never had a problem with any of their products until now.
This laptop has great specs on paper, but there is an Achilles heel to this lemon... The hard drive. I don't know what went through the minds of the ones responsible for designing this thing, but the 5400RPM hard drive that they stuck in this thing completely undercuts the nice specs that it has under the hood.
For those that aren't as tech savvy, picture a Mustang GT. It's a pretty nice car, with a solid engine... Now imagine the gas was transported from the tank to the engine through a coffee straw. You might have a beefy engine, but it's useless if you can't feed it gas. That's essentially what Asus did when they stuck this useless hard drive in this otherwise fantastic computer.
Within a week, mine was freezing on startup because the hard drive would bottleneck, and crash the OS. I couldn't even reset windows it got so bad. I gave up, and exchanged it for an Envy X360.
I will say that this laptop can have the hard drive replaced if you, or someone you know, has the skill to do it, so it is possible to pull out the paperweight they used as a hard drive and slap in an SSD, but at that rate you may as well spend a little extra, and get a better laptop altogether.
Another thing to keep in mind: While this thing has an i7, it is a dual core 7200u, which is inferior to most quad core i5s, and gets spanked by the i5-8250u.
Also, it may have a discrete GPU, but it is only a 940mx, and not worth much if you're wanting to game with it. If you're looking to get a budget gaming laptop, go with the HP omen. It won't be a 2 in 1, but it'll run games much better.
Bottom line, while Asus is a fantastic company, even they make lemons, and this travesty is a blight on their name. Don't be conned by the fancy hardware, because the hard drive is incapable of feeding data to any of it fast enough to be useful.
