Cons: audio is not premium, does not have backlit keys. The pros: white color is REALLY COOL. I love the look of this model. It's an extra durable laptop so its plastic but the chassis is hard & supposed to withstand some abuse. It's very lightweight. Easy to hold in one hand while couch web surfing. 2nd biggest pro is the laptop is very fast. Everything is instantaneous. Touchscreen & touchpad both work well & are responsive. I am going to return this laptop due to the fact that the Asus website and Best buy and other department retailers all say that this computer has backlit keyboard and it does not. I confirmed with ASUS tech support that it does not. The website has a discrepancy & it's not best buys fault. However, for $500, I am expecting backlit keys at the minimum. Especially when f and j keys do not have pronounced ridges for finding home on the keyboard. It pains me to take this back but i will not spend the money without this let feature. Again the i5 1335u is sickkk too. Great performance 14" beautiful Chromebook without any backlight for the keyboard

I want to share my experience with the Asus Chromebook Plus. Now you may be wondering what is the big deal about this device? And what makes it worthy of the “plus” moniker. There is a whole lot to like here with this device but your milage may vary. I have the Intel Core i5 variant and it sure is fast. But of course, this is just my opinion on this device as you may feel differently. It is no secret that Asus has come under fire for recent events. I wish to simply say that I have been fortunate to having products that have not failed me. So, I want to make it clear that I do no have any bias for or against Asus as consumer. Without further ado let’s have a look at what Asus has to offer here with their latest and greatest. This CB Plus so far with the time I have spent with it has been great. Upon receipt you’ll receive a basic looking box with the usual contents the device, a 45-watt charger and documentation. Picking up the CB for the first-time man it felt great. It is lightweight and feels nice to the touch it is more plastic like but not a cheap and brittle like plastic that would break overtime. I really prefer the white color as it matches with my ROG Ally and anyone who has used a Chromebook can speak for the simplicity that it offers. :::I&O::: This CB has a lot of I&O you will find four USB ports in total two type c, and two type a. Both type c can be used for charging. An HDMI port is included as well, not bad for a Chromebook I say. And I almost forgot to mention a combo mic/headphone jack, although I don’t see why when you could just use a pair of BT headphones. The Core i5 is great for a device like this so not much can slow it down there is an i5-1335U and a solid 8GB of ram. As far as storage is concerned this particular model has 128GB UFS. Wi-Fi 6E is included on the chipset and BT but I am not sure which version though. :::Display::: The display and camera are pretty decent this CB has a 1080p screen which is more than enough for what it is designed for, I am no design pro but the display looks good and the colors are accurate and not washed out. The display is plenty bright for indoor use it isn’t something you could use in direct sunlight. The camera is clear and not grainy and is most definitely usable for video calls or conferences. I tested this out using Google Meet. I like the fact that there is a privacy shutter for those who like privacy. You can never be too careful. The display has a touchscreen and you wouldn’t guess it by looking at it. And it is a matte display which in my opinion is better than a glossy display. The bezels are thin and the screen to display ratio is rather nice and exaggerated like some other Chromebooks. :::Battery::: One thing that Chromebooks are notorious for is their battery life it isn’t unheard to have 8+ hours of battery life. Of course, this all depends on your usage. I myself with mixed use of media and work found roughly 9hours of battery life on a single full charge with 40% brightness and volume at 35%. Keyboard The keyboard feels nice and the keys do not stick and have a good clicky feel to them it is a full-sized key board without the number pad. The touchpad is big and responsive. It really adds to the overall experience. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros: - Fast (great components) - Aesthetically pleasing (Pearl White color) - Touchscreen - Long battery life Cons: - No stylus included - No backlit keyboard :::General Thoughts::: It is really impressive to see how far Chromebooks have come in such little time. I recall when they first released, they were nothing more than a glorified netbook but it just kept improving overtime. And now I only use Chromebooks and Windows laptops. I have owned several CB’s over the years and this CB Plus is amongst my favorites. While I am not sure if not having a backlit keyboard is a big deal, I do wish that a stylus was included. I suppose that is for the more premium models. If you want it all then do yourself a favor and fully spec out this model and you’ll practically would have it all in a small package. For what you get I can’t really complain as this is one solid device. The display is solid, keyboard is great and battery life is top notch. :::TL;DR::: You want a good priced Chromebook with solid specs and performance then look no further you just may have found what you are looking for here.

    Impressive introduction to Chromebook Plus

I was very curious to this new Chromebook Plus branding. I've used Chromebooks for years, and really invested into the higher end models made by Google and Asus. Chromebook Plus are supposed to have premium increased specifications but with the same affordability as Chromebooks. So I was curious about these new Plus brands, and got my hands on this 14" CX-34 by Asus. As with the new branding, this comes with an impressive Core i5 processor, 128 GB storage, 8GB RAM, a slew of IO, Touchscreen, and an amazing battery life that just creates a very high level versatile machine. At just under 1.5 kgs, this is very lightweight despite packing all of that power. Right off the bat, I was immediately drawn to the white finish of this Chromebook. It is not entirely flat white, but has this off-white color that looks stunning. The build feels really solid and I was surprised that this hinge can lower the screen 180-degrees back. I supposed this is for easy screen sharing. This makes sense as this would support the reason why this is touchscreen. The touchscreen is responsive, and a much welcomed versatility. As with all Chromebooks, signing into my Google account was simple and right away I was able to start using the Google suite and going online. Speaking about the screen, it has a matte finish so it is easier on the eyes and was plenty bright even in well lit natural lighted rooms. Right at the top and centered of the screen is the webcam that offers stunning crisp detail. There is a privacy shutter that can be used to ensure that it is not accidentally turned on and recording. The keyboard is where I feel they could have made the experience better. It is not backlit which is a challenge when wanting to type in bed at night time. The key travel is good, and the keys themselves are a little on the loud side when I am typing away. The touchpad is 5.7" and offers really good responses to my fingers. I like that they give you this area size to work with that really just enhances the keyboard experience. The Core i5 1335U processor is the main feature of this Chromebook. I found that this has been a very snappy computing experience, no lagging when going onto high resolution pics-heavy websites, streaming videos online, browsing, and of course utilizing the Google Suite for all of my work projects. As my hospital uses Google suite, this has been my primary work computer for the past few weeks. Getting through and creating/using the Slides, Docs, and Drive was seamless and effortless. I was really impressed at the processing power of this Chromebook, and with 128GB of storage, I was able to download many documents on here. This also has an amazing battery life. Asus has it rated at 10hours of mixed usage, and I was getting about 8-9 hours in my daily use. The speakers are down firing below the palm rests so it can get loud as the sound is shot down and sideways. I do wish the speakers were higher on the device (like on the sides of the screen) to give you a better immersive experience. It does give you a 3.5mm audio jack for plug in or you can use your bluetooth speakers. It also has good IO support: 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports (1 USB-C is on the left), and a HDMI port. As this utilzes the Google Play Store, the major drawback to this Chromebook (and all others) is the lack of apps compatibility. Many apps are configured for Android phones, so they come off awkwardly sized on the screen, and it is very noticeable with this 14" screen. Android app developers really need to get on this, a feature that the other fruit company has seemed to integrate really well with their devices. It does get a little warm when on the lap so be careful on how long you have it there. Overall, I am really impressed with the Asus CX-34. This is now my go-to work computer and it has been a joy to use for personal entertainment device.

For the past week, I've been testing out the ASUS Chromebook Plus CX3402CVA, and l have to say it's been a great experience. Having reviewed a ton of Chromebooks before, this one felt like a step up in terms of quality and performance. First off, the build quality is impressive. It's mostly made of hard plastic but it feels more premium and polished. It's surprisingly lightweight, making it super portable, and it feels really well-balanced. I could even balance it on one leg and type on it comfortably. The speakers are surprisingly good, especially for a Chromebook. YouTube videos sounded fantastic, with very loud and crystal clear voices. Another area where the CX34 shines is with its selection of ports. There are two USB-C ports, which can be used for charging, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and even an audio jack. The only thing I felt it was missing was a SD or microSD slot. But, there are plenty of hubs that can add that functionality. Under the hood, this Chromebook Plus has a 13th generation i5 processor and 8 gigs of RAM. That might sound like overkill for a Chromebook, but honestly, I loved having the extra processing power. Everything I did felt snappy and responsive. Especially, when flipping through tabs or changing apps. The only downside on the storage side is that it only has 128GB hard drive, and 37GB is being used by the operating system which is pretty standard. For me, it wasn't a huge deal since I can always use an external drive or cloud storage, but it's something to consider. The display is another highlight. It's got a nice, slightly reflective finish and plenty of brightness to let you work comfortably even outdoors. The blacks are deep, the colors are vivid, and text looks crisp and clear. Also, I was surprised to discover it's a touchscreen as well, which is a fantastic feature you don't normally find on a Chromebook at this price point. The touchpad is comfortable to use and feels nice and solid when you click it. The keyboard is great for typing on too, although it doesn't have any backlight, which might be a bummer for some. As for the battery, I was easily able to get about 6 hours of productivity from it. And when it was time to recharge it performed the task in about an hour and 10 minutes. Overall, the ASUS Chromebook Plus is a premium Chromebook experience. It's well-built, has fantastic speakers, tons of ports, a powerful processor for a Chromebook, a beautiful display with a surprising touchscreen feature, and a comfortable touchpad and keyboard.

The CX34 is the latest 14" Chromebook Plus Laptop, with an Intel i5 processor (1335U), 8GB DDR5 Memory and a 128GB SSD. From ASUS (CX3402), it comes in either – Pearl White or Black. I tested the 13th Generation (the latest intel CPU series). The SSD is based on the UFS interface (same fast memory as used in smartphones; low power, high speed; soldered to the motherboard. Likewise, the DDR5 memory is soldered to the motherboard, it appears to be dual channel (and it can't be upgraded). There is a M.2 interface which contains a removable AX211NGW network interface module. This supports 2.4G, 5G & 6G WiFi. With WiFi 7 being just down the road having the networking module independent, so it can be upgraded, is an advantage. This laptop has a 14" touch screen (FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9) with an anti-glare display. It weighs 3.17lbs (1.44 kg). It is only 3/4" thick (and 12.85" x 8.44"). It has 2 USB A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and 2 USB 3.2 C Gen 1 ports both support display & power delivery. It also has a HDMI 1.4 port and a 3.5mm Audio port. It includes an array microphone that can be used with the built-in Google Assistant (voice-recognition support) and a 1080p FHD camera that has a privacy shutter. The trackpad is a huge 5.7" (diag), which is remarkably responsive. The screen has a 180 degree lay flat hinge. Initial installation is and set up is very easy (especially if you already have a chrome account). All you need to do is select your WiFi network, supply its password, and you're off and running. The machine auto updates its firmware and OS on initial setup. You provide your Google Id/Pass and you're up and running with the full suite of Google tools. Google has defined a minimum set of specifications that a Chromebook Plus must meet. This includes having a full HD screen, fast modern memory, and modern CPU and multiple IO ports. The plus version is intended to provide fast performance. My biggest issue is that the USB IO ports are only USB 3.2 Gen 1 versus Gen 2, or supporting thunderbolt. This means instead of supporting data transfer at over 1024Mbp/s it only supports 400Mbp/s, and without Thunderbolt 3 compatibility high speed peripherals are crippled. I'd love to add an external 10Gbps USB C External Portable NVMe M.2 SSD drive, but it would be 20 times slower than it could with full USB 3.2 Gen 2/Thunderbolt support. Given the cost of this "highend" chromebook, this deficiency is regrettable. I used it on my 1gb WiFi network with very snappy performance. The chiclet keyboard is very responsive, it has very nice key travel. The full HD web camera was a great pleasure to use with Zoom, the microphones picked up my voice very clearly and I was very happy with the quality of my image. I ran Google Chrome with over 10 tabs open and didn't notice any lag or issues with performance. Asus claims the battery life is up to 10hrs. I used it throughout the day as I would generally use my notebook, and found that I got just over 8 hrs of runtime before the 10% battery warning was delivered. I was running with the screen brightness at 90%. I hooked up a USB C expansion hub and encountered no issues. The multi screen functionality worked excellent. I found that Google Photos and its editing tool worked extremely excellent. The Android App store is available, I didn't spend much time exploring them, but presume that install and work as expected. Powering the laptop up and down is a joy, when turning it on (if a known network is available) you are up and running in under two seconds. Power down in under one second. Wow, and the screen is very nice to use, but it's not suitable to use outdoors (this did not surprise me). I do wish I could have increased the memory, but can't say I found a time when it was really necessary. I already keep 200gb on line with Google, I've been very happy with Google Drive and Google One over the years, I'll probably upgrade to their 2TB plan in the near future (10x the storage for 3x more per year). I've been working on getting my 60K of Photos better organized. These new AI tools within the Google Ecosystem will probably finally get that done (I love searching my photos using names, I just have to spend the time to "learn" google more of "my people". I've been testing Gen AI for several months and I'm really getting hooked on it. Chromebook Plus also enables enhanced AI features within Google Photos like 'Magic Eraser' and other enhanced editing features, like an HDR effect and the ability to add "portrait background blur" to your existing photos. I expect more AI features to be included in the future. Google said that they will be bringing the power of Google’s AI capabilities directly into ChromeOS 5, which will first be available to Chromebook Plus users (later in 2024). I'm quite happy with my new Chromebook Plus, and look forward to it getting better, just wished it supported high speed peripherals.

The ASUS 14" Chromebook Plus is a sleek and efficient laptop powered by an Intel Core i5 1335U processor, complemented by 8GB of memory and a 128GB SSD. It offers a robust performance suitable for various tasks, from everyday computing to more demanding applications, all while benefiting from the speed and simplicity of Chrome OS. This ASUS Chromebook Plus features a minimalist and elegant design, with a lightweight and portable build that makes it easy to carry around. Its 14-inch Full HD display (1920x1080) offers crisp and vibrant visuals, perfect for both work and entertainment. The thin bezels enhance the viewing experience, providing an immersive display within a compact frame. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, with well-spaced keys and a surprisingly responsive touchpad, making it ideal for long typing sessions. Equipped with an Intel Core i5 1335U processor and 8GB of RAM, the Chromebook Plus delivers smooth and responsive performance. Whether you're multitasking, streaming videos, or running productivity apps, the laptop handles tasks efficiently without lag. I found it very snappy when using Google Docs and Chrome and it obviously integrated seamlessly with my Google account. This is not a gaming laptop as it only has integrated Intel graphics. You can play the Chrome OS version of Minecraft on it, but nothing more graphically intensive. The obvious main drawback is that Chrome OS may not support certain software applications available on Windows or macOS. The 128GB SSD provides fast boot times and quick access to files, significantly improving overall performance compared to traditional hard drives. While 128GB may seem limited, Chrome OS’s integration with cloud storage solutions like Google Drive ensures you have ample space for documents and media. The 14-inch Full HD display is bright and clear, offering excellent color accuracy and wide viewing angles. It's perfect for watching videos, editing photos, or working on presentations. It is also a touchscreen so if you prefer the touchscreen capabilities of a tablet device also with the keyboard and functionality of a laptop, this Chromebook is perfect for you. This device can lie nearly perfectly flat when opened, so if you want to use the touchscreen for creative applications such as creating artwork you can. The ASUS Chromebook Plus boasts impressive battery life, allowing you to work or play for extended periods without needing to recharge. On average, it provides around 8 hours of use on a single charge, making it a reliable companion for a full day of activities. This Chromebook includes a variety of ports, such as (2) USB-C, (2) USB-A, and HDMI, providing flexibility for connecting peripherals and expanding storage. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) ensures fast and stable internet connectivity. WiFi 7 would have been nice to have, but that standard isn’t as widespread as of early 2024 so its not that big of a deal. Running on Chrome OS, the ASUS Chromebook Plus benefits from quick boot times, automatic updates, and built-in virus protection. It also supports Google Play Store apps, expanding its versatility with a wide range of applications for both productivity and entertainment. I found this Chromebook more fun to use than my Windows laptop for simple everyday tasks such as emailing from the couch and checking on box scores on ESPN while watching the game on the TV because ChromeOS is more responsive than Windows 11. It just feels snappier and this Chromebook itself is light as a feather at just 3.97 pounds and 0.82” thin so it is very easy to carry around. The ASUS 14" Chromebook Plus Laptop is an excellent choice for those seeking a powerful yet portable device. Its robust performance, impressive display, and long battery life make it suitable for a wide range of users, from students to professionals. While the limited onboard storage and Chrome OS’s software compatibility might be a drawback for some, the overall value, performance, and efficiency of this Chromebook make it a standout option in its category.

A fast, thin and easy to use Chromebook!

Chromebooks are a great cross between an Android tablet and a traditional laptop. You get all of the benefits of the tablet (long battery life, tons of apps, easy OS management) with all of the familiar traits of a laptop (clamshell design with a large screen and a built-in keyboard and trackpad). This Asus Chromebook Plus has a fast Intel processor, plenty of memory and storage, is thin and light, and is a great value for those who don’t need Windows or Mac to get stuff done. Plus, it’s fantastically easy to manage and maintain. Highlights: * Thin and light. * Bright and clear touchscreen. * Long battery life. * Several useful ports (USB-Ax2, USB-Cx2, HDMI, Headphones). * Open lid props up the keyboard a bit. * Long USB-C power adapter. Room for Improvement: * Keyboard is not backlit. * The typical Caps Lock key is replaced with a Search/Launcher function. * USB power adapter has a captive cord and the prongs don’t fold. * Screen folds to 180 degrees but does not fold backwards further. Setup: Plug the provided USB-C power adapter into either side’s USB-C port to charge it up. The charging LED is one the left side near that port, but you can use whichever is convenient. Wake it up with the power button and follow the simple onboarding screens to apply or create a Google account and get the Chromebook ready to go. Mine needed some updates that installed quickly and easily after which it was ready to use. Usage: Basically, it’s a laptop running Android. You have access to all of your usual Google stuff like Chrome, Meet, Photos, etc. but in a more standard laptop shape. The built-in keyboard is roomy and easy to type on. It’s not backlit but otherwise is efficient to type on versus tapping away at an on-screen keyboard. Also, the typical “Caps Lock” key is replaced with a Google Search/Chrome Launcher key instead. If you want the usual Caps-Lock function, that’s now an Alt-Launcher key combo. Otherwise, everything is pretty much as you’d expect. The shortcut keys at the top of the keyboard are helpful. The screen is bright and clear with a non-glare coating. It’s a touch screen so you can use either that or the trackpad to navigate around your favorite apps. The lid kinda props up the keyboard when opened and can be bend backwards to make the whole laptop flat, but it won’t bend backwards to the “tent” or “tablet” styles that other laptops might do. At the top of the screen is a webcam with a sliding privacy shutter. There’s also an array of microphones. Both the camera and microphone work well for video calls or recording your favorite content like Tik Tons. The roomy trackpad is right where you’d expect it to be and it is clicky for right and left-clicks for when you don’t want to take your hands off the keyboard to touch the screen. On the left side of the base is one of the two USB-C ports that can be used to power the Chromebook or plug in your favorite device. On the right side is another USB-C port, two SuperSpeed USB-A ports, an HDMI port so you can connect a TV or external monitor, and a headphone jack for your wired headphones. Of course there’s WiFi and Bluetooth for networking and headphones/speakers. The provided power adapter is relatively small and has a long, captive (non-removable) USB-C cable. There’s no real cord management, the cable cannot be removed and the AC prongs don’t fold in when it’s not being used, so it’s not the most travel-friendly, but it works. Charging is quick and the laptop lasts a long time on a charge, too. Overall: For most people, a ChromeBook is more than good enough to do typical home or school tasks. Anything web-based or that has an Android app can work here, and there’s nothing messy to maintain like a typical Windows or Apple laptop might require. This particular ChromeBook Plus is fast, has a nice screen and web cam, and enough ports to connect your favorite devices with ease. Overall, it’s a great value for students and home users that don’t need the power and complexity of a typical laptop.

I love Google chrome as a web browser and I am on the Google eco-sphere so this review might be a little bias. LOL. I have used a number of laptops using windows 11 and once, a MacBook which I really didn't care for but that's a whole other subject. Setting up my Asus chromebook was super easy as I stated before, I have much of my information and accounts with Google so everything was seamless. So let's talk about the Asus Chromebook itself. There is so much to like but also a few things I would have changed if I could. First, I love the color. White is so much better than all the chrome/silver laptops I see. The layout of the keys are very nice and spaced out just enough where typing feels comfortable and not cramped. So here is my 1st gripe, keyboard isn't backlit. At this price, I wish it was. Track pad is really big compared to my 15' laptop, see photo, and it might be good for some people. For me, it just kept getting in the way. I found myself constantly moving the cursor with my palm as I rested it on the laptop. Speakers are good, but at the bottom of the laptop so you definitely lose some volume. They should have placed it somewhere we could hear more of it. Screen is ok, not the best but definitely good enough for watching videos or surfing the web. It can get washed out in sunlight. Touch screen is really nice and super responsive. And the laptop itself is quick and can handle multiple things without any hiccups. I really think this is a great laptop for anyone that may be a student or just need basic computing.

With the Intel Cor i5 1335U processor coupled with 8GB of Memory and a 14” (Full HD) 1920 x 1080 touch screen, this unit can easily replace my bulky windows laptop. Given the built in cloud storage options, the 128GB SSD is more than sufficient for most users. I have over 100 apps installed, and still have over 88GB of driver space available. The device has 2 USB Type-A ports, 2 USB Type-C ports for display out or power, 1 standard HDMI port and a 3.5mm combo audio out/mike in jack. The audio output is very good, and the Bluetooth 5.3 Codec provides excellent connectivity to peripheral devices. The Wi-Fi card is Dual Band AX/6E dual band. The keyboard is very comfortable, but the “F” and “J” home position keys do not have small “bumps” in them to help you find the home row and proper finger placement without looking at the keyboard. There’s a slight roughness at the bottom edge of the key that may be intended for that purpose, but if so, they should rethink that choice. The keyboard on this model is not backlit, which could be a dealbreaker for some. At approximately 3.25 pounds I’d still consider this device light, but it also rated as meeting military-grade standards, so it’s very well built. The stated battery life is 8 hours, which based on my usage seems accurate.

I was not sure what to expect given the low price of this Chromebook. I did not see touch screen in the description but I was pleasantly surprised that it does have one! It is quick and responsive whether using the mouse touch pad or the touch screen. It comes loaded with Google Chrome. Once logged in, all my passwords, information and documents were immediately available. The processor works great for my needs at work. It boots up quickly, tabs and applications open with ease and I am able to be up and running right away. The pearl white color is sleek and different than the usual gray or black that most Chromebooks come in. It is thin and lightweight. I use the camera (covered when not in use for security) and microphone for video meetings and the sound and picture are great. I have no issues with lagging or dropped signals. I also like that is comes with and HDMI port. We have a large screen to share information in our conference room and I am able to connect and display documents and pictures for the team. It is extremely surprising that such a great computer is so inexpensive. This would be great for high school or college students.

The Google Plus Laptop offers speed and versatility with a different take on things geared towards android users. And while this laptop is amazingly beautiful its speed ensures that you'll be able to multi-task with ease and simplicity. First off i have to start by saying there are some very key distinctions between a Chromebook and a Windows based laptop. The Chromebook in my opinion is Google's answer to Apple's iPad in the way it lets you sync everything from your phone directly to your laptop as a backup. Diving right in to the laptop i have to say i was very awe stuck with how beautiful something so simple as white could look on a laptop. Pictures seriously do this laptop no justice. Setting up the laptop was easy and it was such a breath of fresh air to watch how quickly all my files, settings and photos very loaded up once i was logged in to my account. If your an Android user you can back up all your photos or files directly from your phone to your laptop, which is pretty much how all Chromebooks are. What makes this one slightly better is the speed of this laptop. Navigating through multiple sites while finishing up a project in split screen presents no lag or locking up. My company likes to use Google meets for everything, and while in our meetings we have to have multiple windows up in order to go over project reports. This laptop gets it done with literally the click of a button. The forward facing camera (which does have a privacy shutter) presents amazingly good quality and streams great video quality even under low light conditions. The built in speakers give crisp sound quality with little to almost no distortion. Battery life is surprisingly long depending on your settings of course. On full brightness while using it mildly to write up presentations i got about 10 hours of straight usage. Full charge on a dead battery took a little over an hour. And one key feature i love about Chromebooks is the "pick up where you left off" feel it gives you. I like how i can start a project, get tired and close the laptop to go to sleep and then pick it right back up the next day to finish what i started. Now testing how long the laptop can hold charge when you do this, i noticed that on a full charge i had started writing a document, closed the laptop and let it sit for 3 days. After opening it back up to continue what i was doing the battery had only dropped about 10% down to 90% battery life. Now these laptops are not designed for gaming other than using the app store and some mild online sites that are compatible. But i still like to see how far they have come with their operating software in the way of gaming. So as far as Steam goes it is compatible with Chromebooks or at least this Chromebook, and will allow you to download their software and play any games from your Steam library. However at 8 gigs of Ram and a not so good video card don't expect to be blown away. Still it was nice to see that this Chromebook did offer that compatibly for some down time for those Steam users out there. All in all its a great Chromebook that is amazingly fast and smooth which is something Chromebooks always seemed to lack for me. Their pre-loaded templates for resume, power point presentations and other such key templates is always a nice feature to have all at the push of the quick access button. This laptop is such a amazing step up and is made by Asus who has always been known to make good quality gaming products and pc products for that matter. But the thing i can't wrap my head around no matter how trivial it is, is the lack of a back lit keyboard. I can't for the life me understand why so many manufactures still don't use them. Especially considering how many Americans now a days how to work longer hours and deeper in to the night in order to meet deadlines or make ends meet. The lack of this feature makes it difficult to work at night even with the lights on. Why would it be hard to see the keys with the light on you may ask? Well that's because in beauty there are flaws. The white keys tend to blend in with the white chassis of the laptop making them difficult at times to see. It would of made sense to put a backlit key to distinguish white keys from a white backdrop. This is just my opinion but one that stopped me from using it as main go to laptop. If this doesn't bother you or if you have eyes like an eagle then i say buy this laptop cause it is very quick and beautiful. However for me i have to be able to see what im doing at night and it is such a big pet peeve of mine that if i was in the market for one i would pass on this set up simply for the lack of that small feature

I've never owned a chromebook before and I'm totally blown away by the performance of this chromebook. I have a desktop PC for when i need to do complex photo editing, but this is perfect for day to day internet browsing, research, and writing my blog and doing social media promotion. Everything runs flawlessly. It didn’t take me any time to get used to using Google docs and sheets. Love that it came with a year of the premium Google service that provides 2TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini AI. If you're on the fence don't hesitate, this is a great purchase and well worth the money.

This ASUS Chromebook was obtained specifically for a college student to use for their schooling due to it being lightweight and easier to carry from class to class. As we set it up together and both of us worked with it, I asked my child to write a review highlighting those things she felt other students would like to know as we set it up with her information. I found it to be a good basic laptop not just for schoolwork but something I could easily carry with me and do some work while waiting to pick up the kids. The review incorporates the observations from both of us This ASUS Chromebook Plus came in a beautiful white color with grey keys. Intel Core i5 processor and is HDMI. Loaded with 128 GB of storage and a 14 inch touch screen. This computer is perfect for getting some school work done as well as casual browsing, shopping and watching videos, shows, and movies. Packaging: The packaging was very sturdy, It came in a sturdy cardboard box, minimal plastic used, there was a dust bag for the laptop itself and a dust cover for the screen. Everything was tucked in nicely and securely. Setting up: I had charged the laptop for a full night before beginning the setup process. The entire setup was simple and straightforward. First step was to update the laptop. It was an estimated 15 minutes to complete the update but the computer was so quick it didn't take half of that time. Logging in was easy, brought me through the few steps of linking and syncing my previous chrome account. It gave me the option to sync my web pages from other devices so I don't lose what I was previously looking at. When setting up a password to log into the computer, it asked for a 6 digit code rather than the usual 4 digits which I feel is much better at securing all of my data and information. I didn't need to use the instruction booklet as the online directions/steps were very clear and straightforward. Display and Features: Starting off with the 14 inch HDMI Screen, the image is crisp and clear on video and non video pages. Being able to easily change the brightness with the touch of a button at the top of the keyboard is helpful. As well as being able to switch over to nighttime mode by going to the bottom right hand corner. The Nighttime mode decreased the blue light and turned the page a yellow hue to be less harsh on the eyes. I find myself using the Nighttime mode more than the preset lighting. The sound is also very clear. I didn't have any issues with the sound being ahead/behind of videos. At the bottom of the screen there are preset shortcuts for apps such as Google Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, Files, Messages, Google Meet, Play Store, YouTube and Photos. Editing these shortcuts is super easy, I just double tapped and was able to remove what I didn't need. On the top part of the case where are two little nubs that when the computer is opened, add a bit of angled height to prop the computer up which makes typing more comfortable and sets the screen perfectly to where I need it. There is also a small tab to the right of the camera that allows the covering of the camera for an added security feature. When the camera is open, you can see the camera lens as a black circle. And when the cover is on, it's replaced with a red covering so you're aware if your camera is covered or not. The bottom right of the bar at the bottom displays the batter life, WiFi signal, date, time, a tab for pinned files and a notification spot. When you tap or click on the date you have full access to your calendar for ease of access. This Chromebook is also a touchscreen which adds a cherry on top. Personally I love tablets and touchscreen computers. They make browsing easier. The screen has a soft feel to it allowing my finger to glide across. I did attempt to pair my air pods with Bluetooth but didn't have any luck with that. However, it was able to pair with my Bluetooth light with no issues. Battery and Charging: It only took a few hours (4-5 while actively using it) to get a full charge on the battery. The charging cord itself is a long lightweight cord attached to a block. Not overly chunky and does not take up much space. However, I do have the block plugged into an adapter to give me more outlet space for other plugs.
